    The things I'm most worried about in combat sports is the potential CTE and internal bleeding/punctured lungs.

    • @GabrielVargaOfficial
      @GabrielVargaOfficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +64

      Probably legit concerns. I like body conditioning because it makes serious injuries less likely.

      I think that's a lot of peoples fear in combat sports. Work on defense often, build muscle (as a layer of protection), do the conditioning, and also work on avoiding shots! They can't cause internal bleeding if they can't touch you. At least that's what I do and that's my thinking. You're gonna get hit but if you're aware of your opponents strengths and your weak points (ex. liver where conditioning and muscle doesn't matter) than I think you'll probably be a lot safer. Head movement to avoid head shots. Also the better your conditioning the better you can defend yourself in the late rounds when your opponent potentially gets tired. Long winded reply haha but it's something I think about too being early in my career.

    Conditioning isn't just about being tough, but about knowing what hits feel like and how to develop the ability to roll with the strikes to reduce their impact. A pool stick has to hit the ball dead on or it just spins and goes nowhere.

    I would love to see you work together with the modern martial artist on a breakdown of a fight you have done, he breaks down the opponents moves and you break down your own.
    Could be epic!

    Awesome! I think I was one of the people who asked for this video. Does anyone know what actually happens when you “condition” the body? Are you like firming up the skin, making the muscles more dense, building scar tissue, or just desensitizing yourself and increasing your pain tolerance? Like what’s actually happening on a biological level?

    • @Shojushoju
      @Shojushoju 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      PS: Is practicing checking/blocking round kicks with your shin (without you or your partner wearing shin guards) a good strategy? Or not necessary?

    • @GabrielVargaOfficial
      @GabrielVargaOfficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      I'm honestly not sure what the exact science is. My wife says it could be nervous system desensitizing plus scar tissue build up.
      For shin conditioning I like kicking pads or bags. I don't do sparring without shin pads.

    You can either have a diamond chin or don't but body conditioning is a must-have for every fighters out there. For me, I like body conditioning in the sense that I feel confident I can absorb enough damage and be able to counter on my own

  • @Elhesh
    @Elhesh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I personally will take low kick conditioning anyway over body conditioning. I know it’s important.
    But it suck and makes me wanna fight someone after doing it. And then die the next day.

    From years of experience in limbing and bucking hardwood trees, I have to say I think conditioning for hits is mental, not physical. A the very least if springy hardwood branches are hitting you in the shins, yeah you can learn to ignore the pain and keep on working to the point where being bruised and bloody doesn't slow you down in the least, but it DOES NOT MAKE YOUR SHINS TOUGHER. It just does damage. Do it enough, and the damage becomes permanent. I recommend getting shinguards before it reaches that point. Mental toughness is valuable, and worth training for, but design your training so that as much as possible you're getting just the mental toughness, and not physical damage that over time accumulates and takes a toll.

    • @paulpelle3046
      @paulpelle3046 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Lol! That is SO genuine and well-intended bro. 🙏
      ...it’s also COMPLETELY WRONG. You can safely condition virtually EVERY part of your body (a few exceptions (obvs 🙈)), as long as you’re sensible about power...and trust the person conditioning you.
      You’re right though: the mental side is SUPER important...probably more than physical, just. But if you don’t condition yourself REGULARLY for the shock of being struck pretty hard, and in areas you’ve NEVER experienced pain before (such as inner thigh), then? You’ll simply buckle...probably from a single well-placed low-kick even. 🤷‍♂️
      Physical: 45%
      Mental: 55%
      So, pal, you ready to get in the ring at 55% against a guy who’s 100% wanting to hurt you, and knock you TF out ideally? 🤔
