I didn't win but I felt very pleased with myself afterwards. Next fight on the 24th my nerves are there but sincere do believe I'll be great this one too. 🙏🏾🙏🏾

Your videos helped me a lot, and I didn't had pre fight nerves at all! I trained very hard for 2 months and did everything I could. Also my grandpa passed away a month before the fights and I canalized all my anger in the training room. Thanks again for your videos and sorry if I made some mistakes. For me, I figured that alot of the fear wasn't the opponent or the event. Its mostly an intense performance anxiety.
Often I can exchange the fear for excitement. I train hard, and I have an intense style that the crowd tends to get excited. So I would visualize doing something fun and crazy in the fight, like performing a perfect spin kick, a flying knee or a beautifal combo. I know I want to showcase my skills and my work. This often put the focus more on myself.. something I can control, instead of all the factors I can't.
      Hope this helps!

While you do get used to the nerves, they never go away completely. I now have done 49 kickboxing fights (and 1 boxing match), never got seriously injured. But still, had my first fights in almost 2 years last weekend, and I slept so bad the night before the contest. The nerves were back again 😄 I also was supernervous before the boxing because of the different rules and I excpected the punches to be a lot harder

Great advice in this video, sure wished it was around when I was competing back in the day. Although I never bailed from a fight, I do remember my nerves & anxieties getting the best of me. Even to this day I feel regret from not putting on better performances due to that fear, which is why I’ve started training again just to step back in the ring to ‘slay my dragons from the past’ Try not to let the fear get to you, everyone. The regret you’ll feel in the future is never worth it.

It's so nice to see a genuine champion be so open and honest about this stuff. Proof of a real man being able to admit what 99% of others would. Great that you're so humble and free of ego. On the 8th of May I fought Kumite with my instructor who is 21Kg heavier than me to get my 2nd Dan Black Belt in Japenese Kick-Boxing. I was absolutely shitting myself for 4 months. But it's something I needed to do for myself. I was still standing, but he didn't go as hard as he could as he's become a close friend and obviously the HUGE weight disparity. But stripe earned, still walking. That's all I can ask for lol

Edit: I love the romantic comedy tip!
Science actually has literature on watching comedies to reduce stress in athletes! It promotes the production of oxytocin, similar to hugs/cuddling or petting/playing with your animals.

My brother, you share real genuine things that can take years and years to learn on your own path. Your humility is that of a genuine martial artist and warrior , fantastic channel. One thing l might add about fear. I believe that fear is a necessary system, built into us for self preservation. It keeps us in check for over confidence, will spike our adrenaline when required. I also experienced at different times when it slows down the world around me to half or quarter speed. Funny thing, this has only happened in very ugly street fights, not in the ring. Acknowledging the fear, accepting it, then harnessing. Allow it to to increase focus, speed and aggression.

My last fight (Amateur), just before the Covid 19 shut everything up... The entire day of my fight night, I was stressed up so much because I was out of the octogone for almost 2 years and I had a tiny but ANNOYING doubt despite being confident to beat my opponent. In the resto-bar where we made the weigh-in and that I stayed for eating and trying to relax before going to the event place... The way to slowly calm down was to disconnect myself... Playing pool with my Godfather then at the event, talking with fighters in the lockeroom and the final minutes, musics...
The second my name and my music was heard, the big smile and everything went well, 1st round submission win.
Stress can be a real bitch... And often, the second everything starts... Everything blows away and ''Automatic Pilot Mode''...!

I almost bled to death once, and also almost died from head trauma due to falling down 20+ metal stairs while sleep walking...After that kinda shit, I don't even get scared when a gun is put in my face with violent intent...and that's happened twice. Sparring and the idea of getting punched or knocked out is laughable now
