    The n55 stage 1 tune from bm3 is an awesome upgrade especially once you have all the necessary mods. I love how the BMW m235i is more responsive especially at the upper rev ranges. 100% worth it

    • @Enzonius
      @Enzonius 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I disagree with trying to reuse the OEM V-band with the teeth. Trying to remove the oem one will distort the metal gasket and then it will not seal properly on you car. Learned this the hard way sadly. Just bite the bullet and buy a new clamp from BMW. Will make the installation easier and you will not have to deal with leaks.

    Thanks for this vid! I'm considering replacing my downstream O2 sensor because I keep getting consistent -3% to -7% on my Long Term Fuel Trim from my OBD II port reader chart/values. However, on the VRSF website they sell a pair of clamps. So if not already the case I suggest you send VRSF a message to confirm with them that the pair is indeed both the Turbo to DP clamp as well as lower clamp.

      @@Storm2you No! It is not. The X-drive model has an additional support plate (center jack point) that is 8 bolts to remove, then you can access the downpipe. However, the engine mounts are different and do not have a hole in the middle like shown in the video so the only way to get the top v-band clamp off is using a ball joint and multiple socket extensions. Overall, took me about 5 hours to complete.

    So you didn't simply just buy the pipe, you bought a extra vband clamp and gasket? I have a B46 230i. Also the pipes look completely different. Not sure why is that now.
    Also, which app are you using to remove the check engine code. Is it specifically for the downpipe/exhaust or is it in general from the whole car.

    • @BimmertechG01
      @BimmertechG01 ปีที่แล้ว

      This installation video is for the N55 L6 motor. The B46 is a completely different L4 motor and exhaust setup so you would need to find a catless downpipe specifically designed for it, the N55 downpipe won't be compatible. To run catless downpipes you need to get a tune of some form, whether it be a flash tune like MHD/BM3, a piggyback like JB4, or a custom tune is up to you. If you remove or modify the cats on the stock DME map it will be stuck running rich with an SES/CEL.

      @@BimmertechG01 great thank you.. any idea on reliability for a BM3 Stage 2 tune? I will be running VRSF Catless downpipe Custom Axel Back Exhaust, BMF Billet Intake, and Aluminum Charge Pipe.
      2nd Q; Would you think installing the intake before the tune would bring any issues? Seems to be a easy pull and play DIY.
      Much appreciated.

    • @BimmertechG01
      @BimmertechG01 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrVuittonDon I personally can't speak on BM3, as I went with MHD for the N55, currently running VRSF catless downpipe with Turner motorsport aluminum charge pipe on MHD Stage 2. So far I'm absolutely loving it, I don't have any dyno numbers to accurately report the power gain, but I feel comfortable saying at least +35-40hp from just the tune and catless DP. I am on AWD so the torque might feel different on R/FWD, but I can say with confidence the torque gain is extremely noticeable, including torque steer. The one thing I will say is I've seen many people mention that your spark plugs and coil packs will go bad sooner when running more power, which does sound realistic.
      You will definitely smell gas on cold start and after pulls/spirited driving with catless DP. However if you are running in comfort mode and not driving too hard with the windows up (think regular stop and go commutes) it is virtually unnoticeable, completely unnoticeable with recirc A/C on.
      Make sure to install the aluminum charge pipe before anything else as you don't want any present or future boost leaks or full on limp mode from OEM charge pipe failure. I am a mini technician and I will say the B46 charge pipe should be a lot easier to do compared to the N55, but I would recommend making sure your clamps/clips are 100% air tight before install. Renew the rubber O rings on the connection to both the intercooler and throttle body with the new charge pipe, and if possible use heavy silicone spray to partially lube the rubber so it doesn't fold over itself during installation, just as a preventative measure (I wouldn't recommend WD-40 or any other spray/grease based lubricant as you don't want the residue going into the motor).
      Regarding the intake - I highly doubt the intake upgrade would cause any issues without a tune, it will definitely be easy to install, however I have seen some on BMW forums mentioning they got SES lights for "mass air flow too high" when running the intake with no tune. I would say install the intake, run around with it for a bit and worst case scenario if you get a "MAF too high" code you just put the stock box back on until you have the tune and other upgrades.
      Long story short version: If BM3 is similar enough to MHD I can highly recommend it with the bolt ons you mentioned. Give the intake upgrade a shot regardless of tune but put the stock box back on until tuned if you end up getting an SES light, even if you don't do any other upgrades or a tune to the motor 100% do the aluminum charge pipe for reliability and peace of mind.

      @@BimmertechG01 my catless downpipe is on backorder. So I have to wait until Dec 20th unfortunately. I have everything else though. The b46 doesn't have any dedicated Intercooler, only these small radiators that most people were saying are NOT worth the $600 "upgrade". Contemplating doing a custom fit for a Intercooler, but not sure if it's even worth for this 4 cylinder engine hmmm. It will be more of a daily driver, cruiser anyway. I have a Nissan Skyline R34 Sedan that will be in and out shops for a while, that's why I got this little vehicle recently. Small, quick, New tech/engineering, all just a peace of mind. I was so surprised from the B46 response in sports while playing with paddle shifters. Extremely underappreciated mode. 🙈😇👍🏼
