Check out “Canada skating video” on TH-cam. Its the one with kids demonstrating different skating techniques and drills. I started playing ice hockey in 1991, and the video is great for fundamentals. These Alpine Ice videos are great too, just pointing out another resource to help you learn and enjoy being on the ice.
Thank you so much for sharing this and for taking the time to post it! I love your style of skating. That's what I want to achieve a super smooth, confident and cool style of skating.

My brain can't understand how you'd feel stable/safe with the upper half of the skate being so loose. I'm definitely a size bigger than this guy, but also have large calves so I am always in contact with a pretty large area of the skate. Whenever I see people like this with smaller legs and how much they move in the top of the skate I instantly feel unstable lmao. That being said, with how insanely well this lad is in control it probably isn't an issue
@@AlpineIceFreestyle Insane, it looks like you'd have so much wiggle room in the upper part though! Your videos are a nice substitute for not being able to stand on the ice (local place's cooling system broke down) keep up the smooth style!
Is there any way to practice ice skating/figure skating without actually going to the ice rink as sort of a way to get ready for when I do go? My nearest one is at least 3 hours away😔
There's really no subscription for ice skating...I did my first backwards crossover after 1-2 hours of working on it...at 5 hours now I can crossover about 6-8 times and go 1 lap(still occasionally falling/getting wobbly)...I've driven up to 8-10 hours to go to a rink (louisiana to Houston///louisiana to daytona beach to try out different rinks) I'm a recreational skater could maybe play rec league level hockey or referee a game (could not ref an nhl game would probably have to ice skate about 25-30 more hours at least) and actually know rules of game
@@michaelsuzio4364 I think you highly underestimate how well a referee needs to be able to skate, I bet the referees in nhl have been skating their whole life, not a couple hundreds of hours
@michaelsuzio4364 for fun, you should watch the refs during games. These guys are some of the most efficient skaters out there because they have so much to watch.
It's August. I live in Canada. I wanna know how to skate backwards. There's no snow. I can barely skate. I am more confident skiing. I cannot ski backwards. Idk if i can do this but I'm going to try. Pray for me lol😅

I’m decent at ice skating and I’m 14, is it too late to become a figure skater?
