Another thing that can happen is they may switch you to a position that you may have never played not only that it may be a position that doesn’t suit you at all
@@Cuddyy1k same with me I walked on as a corner and coach tried to move me to linebacker. Luckily I held my own and did all the drills with dbs even tho he tried to move me and he saw I could cover good and now im waiting for my shot at cornerback on the team 🙏
I went to a Big Ten school and walked on my freshmen year. I was all in too. I wasn’t division 1 LB size so I was rerouted to be a safety, which I never played before, but I was the perfect size and ready for the challenge. They changed me around from FS to SS. Unfortunately I had to keep relearning with little practice repetitions compared to the other players. Asking questions in film room wasn’t the application level I needed either. Had a concussion in practice then got cut due to protocol hold and not being evaluated to retain. Came back the next season, went to LB because they needed depth. Had another concussion which worried me. After awhile realized I wasn’t happy and began to pursue my career. It was an experience I wouldn’t take back - but you know wish things could have been different to a degree. If you’re reading, good luck on your endeavors. Just make sure to stay career oriented because that’s your life. And get that degree (preferably above 3.0).
A friend of mine has a nephew to a DI school - Nevada Reno and a few other decent DI schools but turned it down to go to USC as a walk-on and earned a scholarship as a Freshmen that started @ CB as a sophomore, Junior, and senior. Had a pro tryout but didn’t make it

I walked on at SC State as a QB a few years back. Made the cut but wasn’t given the opportunity. Did everything right. Beat coaches and scholarship players to the field, ran the plays to perfection, showed initiative. But was still getting treated like a 3rd class citizen. It was definitely messing with me mentally. Ended up leaving to play arena ball which ended up successful. People gotta learn the culture and move accordingly to what’s best for them. You hit the nail right on top of the head with this video.
Don’t forget about getting a great education and keeping your grades up. I’ve seen a ton a guys put football as their primary focus, while pursuing a useless degree, only to fail out of school when I was in undergrad.
Walked on at FAMU in 1983. Never played linebacker before but knew I could play. I had hunger. I just knew I was going to make the team. Head awarded me a scholarship after 2 weeks.
As a former "True" walk-on that earned a scholarship (I only got a shot cause a player got hurt and I took his spot). Hardest thing I ever did and that was 10 years ago. I became a favorite after a year of scout time and embarrassing the starting O (I use to get heat from the OC but "what you going to do cut me...I'm free labor, I play defense, it is my job to embarrass you") My first snap came week 10 on Punt in my Sophomore year (1st year playing football) Had like 4 flags thrown at me for a late hit out of bounds, lol. Almost got pulled and my position coach vouched for me and told me to keep that energy but stay in bounds. I hit that dude so hard! For every time they used me as a tackling dummy or gave me names, or looked at me for a sub and went with someone else. HE GOT IT ALL, plus he fumbled. The next week they put me on punt return. I blocked a kick for a TD with the FLU. Coming into my second year I was a captain on special teams and pushed for the slot corner duties. I got beat out in a very close battle and lost alot of confidence. Block another kick on Special teams but I didn't want to only be a gunner forever. I decided to quit my senior year as I wasn't promoted after another season where I didn't win the corner or slot corner spots (I was better and did enough to win) even had scouts that watch practice ask about me as I was tasked with covering TY Hilton (NFL WRs for the colts and pro Bowler) and Greg Ellington (CFL MVP) and still wasn't provided a scholarship at the annual lunch were walk-ons get awarded scholarships. I was so mad. My teammate "rest his soul" Kendal Berry told me in such a kind way. "you ain't going no were" me: What you mean? "You can't quit after 3 years of this, you love the game too much" I resigned the next day and before I got home the scout team coach was at my house. Talking to my mom. (I didn't believe they cared enough to try and keep me) My mom talked me into not quitting and to finish what you start. The 3rd game the DB that beat me 2 years in a row got hurt and I still wasn't given that role had to play behind another player when he got tired. KINDA PISSING me off thinking about it but pete was my boy so I was happy for him. He got roasted in that next game. Took his spot and had 9 tackles and a forced fumble at boundary corner, never looked back after that and a scholarship came in the offseason. Walk-on is hard cause you can be better and still never get a shot. You have to do it for more then just the papers...... you have to want to do it just for the love of the game. I ask because I want to attend Nichols University which is a D1 school as a walk on. And I’m not a super talented player in terms of speed, and strength. All I have is hard work and I’m worried that it might not amount to college ball.
Two other points: 1. Complete your degree no matter what. 2. Know when to walk away. I was a successful walkon at a D1 school for baseball for two years and when I walked away it was the happiest I ever was.

. I want to walk on and play football so bad. I’m freshman at a community college and hope to transfer out this year and have at least 3 years of eligibility. I hope to earn a scholarship so I don’t have to pay for the rest of school, it’s a tough grind. Weight room early morning, school work and working a hard labor job take up my whole day (6Am-10:00PM) so it’s hard to recover and it’s hard to get rest. I’m just simulating the walk on lifestyle to prepare myself if I make it, I just turned 22 and I hope to achieve that dream. This video helped a lot and let’s me know what I need to change throughout my day before work so I just want to show my appreciation after watching this entire thing. I hope to transfer to NCAT, WSSU, UNCC, and maybe a few other schools but I’m just making sure I’m eligible for the ncaa. Hopefully my community college gpa stays above 3.5

I’m trying to be a DB and I know footwork, hips, and agility are very important. I just don’t have access to a world class facility, treatment staff , or even those coaches that work people out on Instagram because some of those cost so much and I have my own things to cover. Lastly I’m tying to stay healthy and not get hurt and working at FedEx isn’t going to help because I’ve gotten hurt so many times. But same grind same mission! It’s all about how bad I want it!
I appreciate this information. Its all truth, and sometimes the truth hurts. I played last year of college my freshman year ( I am currently a sophomore) at Keiser University West Palm Beach. I had a partial scholarship but I left the team in the middle of the season due to financial problems, and eventually transferred out of the school. I still train everyday, even after leaving because this is what made me who I am. Waiting for the next opportunity to come, but if not its all good.
Aggie Pride!!! Great clip everything you said in the clip was 100% true. The smaller the school the more politics you have to deal with. When I was at A&T I saw players leave and go get playing time at other schools.
I had a run trial today for the Track team, the coach told me he’s gonna add me as a walk on and he tells me I have a lot of potential and to run daily till Jan. 6 and honestly I hope it means my chances of making the Team are high
I forgot to mention that I didn’t even play much in high school and I’m kinda short(5’10) so whoever in high school worrying about they future.. don’t give up and don’t be afraid to bend the rules and take advantage to get what u want. Get yo bag!

Bill Russell i don’t think it would affect you, i didn’t play football until my junior year of high school and i walked onto marshall university. it’s a fun ride and if you believe and train at the position you want to play then you will be destined to do great things, hopefully we’ll see each other in the draft or on the field in the next couple of years, if not then good luck!
Becuase of covid and many differnt issues i have not much flim and applications for College im a senior and i have played football and love it so much! Its not a passion its a life style, thank you for your help! I hope to walk on or Maybe get a break!
If you come to college as a walk on and they don’t play you at games and do just use you for team then just make sure you make as much plays as possible when on scout and use that time on scout to make sure you stand out every single rep 💪🏽🦍👑
I'm a 60s kid in my younger days this sport was all about the size kids back in the days where lining up like grown ups 200 to 300 pounders and very aggressive a 100 pounder would get pushed around and laughed at until those days were changed. " RUDY. " but I never made it past high school so nowadays I'm old lol but these days have opportunities. hold your head up be where your feet are.. young man your video would have helped us back in the days keep up the great work because your an inspiration for the love of football or any sports.. You look like you were physically able to compete. I’m glad you told the truth about coaches having their favorites though, and ultimately they will play the guys on scholarship at all costs. Especially at D1 schools. I chose to pass on being a walk on.
I go to a small school as a qb it’s called East Hamilton and the only person that has made it out of college ball was undrafted and signed by the jaguars. His name is tre Herndon. But I’m really scared because I don’t think I will have any scouts look my way and I won’t get the scholarship and go to the nfl
The colleges I went to really didn’t give the walk ons a real chance. My homie learned the entire playbook, was the first one in last one to leave, got his locker and everything. Then one day mid season coach cut him. He never even got to play in the games. He always showed out in practice and in the scrimmages. Just never got a shot in the season. He wasn’t trash. It’s just they have kids that’s under scholarships so the school not gonna bench a person that has a full ride for a walk on. He has to be beyond talented. It’s not impossible tho. It just takes a little luck, maybe some injuries, and a gracious coach.

I hope you get the scholarship too. There are also academic scholarships, grants, and financial aid that may be available to you if you end up needing it.

I’m here at the University of Alabama trying to walk on as a RB at 5’7 170 mainly because it’s my most natural position, majority of my power comes from my legs and I feel like I have a lot of potential to get better as I put in the work if they ever gave me a chance. Seeing them succeed has really boosted my confidence, I make sure I’m ahead in school work because I feel as if it would look great to the coaches even if I am just a freshman and in my first college semester, I’ve been dreaming of this moment for 10+ years, it’s just I’ve only now realized that I can do this which is better now than never
I walked-on for one season. I was a practice tackling dummy. Never got into a game even in blowouts. I basically was there to gather supplies lol. We went 2-9 soooooo. I was a white safety so I was already behind the curb lol.

If there isnt a 2020 szn I might have to walk on for the 2021 szn. Im going into my last juco szn and im at one of the best California jucos and we get DBs to the D1 lvl every year. Im so close to my dream of getting a full scholarship but corona had other plans. Im scared to walk-on because of the reasons you stated but then again I know my abilities and I know I can keep up with the guys on the next lvl. I went up against D1 bounce-back WRs everyday, but like you said coaches have favorites, i can ballout everyday and not see the field (thats nerve-racking). If I do end up walking on hopefully the coaches give me a chance to step on the field and let me do what I do!
Right! This is an uncertain time for ball players. I pray ya'll get to play this next season. Like you said, you could ball out and never touch the field as a walk on. However, if you don't walk on and choose not to play anymore, it would be the biggest regret of your life, and I'm sure that is not even an option for you. All we can do in life is make the best of the opportunities we have. You watched this video, so you will already be one step ahead and know how to maneuver. Become a favorite, earn a scholarship, so on and so on. Ball out!
I’m tryna play d1 and go to the nfl someday. I’m Korean so you might know that our parents are strict and not open to sports career. But I do believe God is telling me to pursue football. And Ihave noticed that I’m pretty fast and shifty. Also am a good defender with great instincts. I hope I can walk on to an ivy and transfer t d1 or just play at ivy straight up. I got my senior year left and ima try to play. What’s it like to hit and stuff idk how todo that. But I feel like I’m one of the faster ppl. I’m 5 11 and 152 pounds

When you became a walk-on as for dorms since you were a walk-on on the team did you stay in the athlete dorm or did you stay in a dorm with the scholarship athletes

😂Yea a mic would have been nice. Workout videos are a great idea. I have a lot of drills that develop explosion, speed, and footwork which are key for DEs. I may do some this spring. Hope that is not too late. Weight lifting and football drill videos on youtube should help out for now.
I think you need to be the biggest and strongest to get given a chance I’m talking about being stronger than every player at your position and you better be hungry number two know the game because let’s be honest those scholar players are kinda sitting easy because they gone play no matter what.
Hello coach I am planning on playing football post secondary I just graduated from highschool and just turned 19 I played In high school with little of experience Currently I’m training to prepare and work hard. I have no scholarships But is there anyway I can get offers even if am done school like for example rep programs etc. i know your thinking this is a long shot but i can promise you i can put in hours and hours in the gym, practice study room to reach this goal, and learn more about this game. right after this I'm about to do a 1 hour hiit session... u motivated me a lot to peruse football

This is all facts I walked in for track and field however I was able to eventually earn a scholarship. It was a long painful road

Walked on at FAMU in 1983. Never played linebacker before but knew I could play. I had hunger. I just knew I was going to make the team. Head awarded me a scholarship after 2 weeks.
I don’t even play football but this is still pretty interesting. You’re talking real compared to those fake day in the life dudes
As a former "True" walk-on that earned a scholarship (I only got a shot cause a player got hurt and I took his spot). Hardest thing I ever did and that was 10 years ago.
I became a favorite after a year of scout time and embarrassing the starting O (I use to get heat from the OC but "what you going to do cut me...I'm free labor, I play defense, it is my job to embarrass you")
My first snap came week 10 on Punt in my Sophomore year (1st year playing football) Had like 4 flags thrown at me for a late hit out of bounds, lol. Almost got pulled and my position coach vouched for me and told me to keep that energy but stay in bounds.
I hit that dude so hard! For every time they used me as a tackling dummy or gave me names, or looked at me for a sub and went with someone else. HE GOT IT ALL, plus he fumbled.
The next week they put me on punt return. I blocked a kick for a TD with the FLU.
Coming into my second year I was a captain on special teams and pushed for the slot corner duties. I got beat out in a very close battle and lost alot of confidence. Block another kick on Special teams but I didn't want to only be a gunner forever.
I decided to quit my senior year as I wasn't promoted after another season where I didn't win the corner or slot corner spots (I was better and did enough to win) even had scouts that watch practice ask about me as I was tasked with covering TY Hilton (NFL WRs for the colts and pro Bowler) and Greg Ellington (CFL MVP) and still wasn't provided a scholarship at the annual lunch were walk-ons get awarded scholarships.
I was so mad. My teammate "rest his soul" Kendal Berry told me in such a kind way. "you ain't going no were" me: What you mean? "You can't quit after 3 years of this, you love the game too much"
I resigned the next day and before I got home the scout team coach was at my house. Talking to my mom. (I didn't believe they cared enough to try and keep me)
My mom talked me into not quitting and to finish what you start. The 3rd game the DB that beat me 2 years in a row got hurt and I still wasn't given that role had to play behind another player when he got tired. KINDA PISSING me off thinking about it but pete was my boy so I was happy for him. He got roasted in that next game. Took his spot and had 9 tackles and a forced fumble at boundary corner, never looked back after that and a scholarship came in the offseason.
Walk-on is hard cause you can be better and still never get a shot. You have to do it for more then just the papers...... you have to want to do it just for the love of the game.

. I want to walk on and play football so bad. I’m freshman at a community college and hope to transfer out this year and have at least 3 years of eligibility. I hope to earn a scholarship so I don’t have to pay for the rest of school, it’s a tough grind. Weight room early morning, school work and working a hard labor job take up my whole day (6Am-10:00PM) so it’s hard to recover and it’s hard to get rest. I’m just simulating the walk on lifestyle to prepare myself if I make it, I just turned 22 and I hope to achieve that dream. This video helped a lot and let’s me know what I need to change throughout my day before work so I just want to show my appreciation after watching this entire thing. I hope to transfer to NCAT, WSSU, UNCC, and maybe a few other schools but I’m just making sure I’m eligible for the ncaa. Hopefully my community college gpa stays above 3.5

I’m trying to be a DB and I know footwork, hips, and agility are very important. I just don’t have access to a world class facility, treatment staff , or even those coaches that work people out on Instagram because some of those cost so much and I have my own things to cover. Lastly I’m tying to stay healthy and not get hurt and working at FedEx isn’t going to help because I’ve gotten hurt so many times. But same grind same mission! It’s all about how bad I want it!
I appreciate this information. Its all truth, and sometimes the truth hurts. I played last year of college my freshman year ( I am currently a sophomore) at Keiser University West Palm Beach. I had a partial scholarship but I left the team in the middle of the season due to financial problems, and eventually transferred out of the school. I still train everyday, even after leaving because this is what made me who I am. Waiting for the next opportunity to come, but if not its all good.

I go to a small school as a qb it’s called East Hamilton and the only person that has made it out of college ball was undrafted and signed by the jaguars. His name is tre Herndon. But I’m really scared because I don’t think I will have any scouts look my way and I won’t get the scholarship and go to the nfl

The colleges I went to really didn’t give the walk ons a real chance. My homie learned the entire playbook, was the first one in last one to leave, got his locker and everything. Then one day mid season coach cut him. He never even got to play in the games. He always showed out in practice and in the scrimmages. Just never got a shot in the season. He wasn’t trash. It’s just they have kids that’s under scholarships so the school not gonna bench a person that has a full ride for a walk on. He has to be beyond talented. It’s not impossible tho. It just takes a little luck, maybe some injuries, and a gracious coach.

I’m here at the University of Alabama trying to walk on as a RB at 5’7 170 mainly because it’s my most natural position, majority of my power comes from my legs and I feel like I have a lot of potential to get better as I put in the work if they ever gave me a chance. I walked-on for one season. I was a practice tackling dummy. Never got into a game even in blowouts. I basically was there to gather supplies lol. We went 2-9 soooooo. I was a white safety so I was already behind the curb lol.

If there isnt a 2020 szn I might have to walk on for the 2021 szn. Im going into my last juco szn and im at one of the best California jucos and we get DBs to the D1 lvl every year. Im so close to my dream of getting a full scholarship but corona had other plans. Im scared to walk-on because of the reasons you stated but then again I know my abilities and I know I can keep up with the guys on the next lvl. I went up against D1 bounce-back WRs everyday, but like you said coaches have favorites, i can ballout everyday and not see the field (thats nerve-racking). If I do end up walking on hopefully the coaches give me a chance to step on the field and let me do what I do!

Like you said, you could ball out and never touch the field as a walk on. However, if you don't walk on and choose not to play anymore, it would be the biggest regret of your life, and I'm sure that is not even an option for you. All we can do in life is make the best of the opportunities we have. You watched this video, so you will already be one step ahead and know how to maneuver. Become a favorite, earn a scholarship, so on and so on. Ball out!

I’m tryna play d1 and go to the nfl someday. I’m Korean so you might know that our parents are strict and not open to sports career. But I do believe God is telling me to pursue football. And Ihave noticed that I’m pretty fast and shifty. Also am a good defender with great instincts. I hope I can walk on to an ivy and transfer t d1 or just play at ivy straight up. When you became a walk-on as for dorms since you were a walk-on on the team did you stay in the athlete dorm or did you stay in a dorm with the scholarship athletes
Kay Hay At my hbcu, there was no athletic dorm. All the students were mixed in.

Workout videos are a great idea. I have a lot of drills that develop explosion, speed, and footwork which are key for DEs. I may do some this spring. Hope that is not too late. Weight lifting and football drill videos on youtube should help out for now.

I believe having a track scholarship will give you an advantage. Coaches will know that you are an athlete already.

So what about eligibility I’m currently at a community college majoring HVAC and I want to play college football I had d3 scholarships but I wanted to stay home and take care of my mom so would I still be able to play
Im unfamiliar with the rule for D3 schools but if you can connect with the athletic department for the school you want to go to, that would be best.
That’s why I going to try to walk on at schools near me that’s close to home that are D1-D2 either or and based on my position that are open but I’ll just have to see

I know is I’m-eligible cause I haven’t played and my credits can be transferred to another school
