Never have I liked a video as quick as this one. Bloody corker and well done Simon & BikeSocial. I can’t say that the GSA has ever spoke to me, found it a bit too big I guess (and it’s three times the price of my current new-to-me Vstrom) but it’s a bike that changed biking in the 21’st century. Friend who ride them swear by them. Well done.
@@903lew thanks for the comment, we’re glad you enjoyed the content! This version certainly bucks the traditional and typical GS blueprint with its accessibility and weight management so it’s well worth a test ride if you get the chance, even if it’s just to sample this new generation. Happy riding, hope you keep enjoying that VStrom. Cheers, Michael
Suzuki 1050 V-Strom DE with either Hessler or TdC kitted out, is a GS worth twice of one of those, never...not even close to the fun you can have for half the price!
Had the pleasure of riding the R1300GSA last weekend and found it good, but preferred the R1250GSA and bought it. (Plus couldn’t beat the deal that BMW was having on the R1250GSA). Funniest thing is, my local dealer has sold out of R1250GSA’s since the R1300GSA showed up at the shop. He had to order more of the R1250GSA’s to keep up with demand.
15:00 The engine ticking noise at idle is insane actually… you would think theres something wrong with it. I have a video in my channel where you can really hear it.
The big take - TS50ER, 30mph. Scoff. Early 80s I had the TS250ER and that could do OVER 60mph. Just about. After a while. Good format though, these geek tests
Good geeking ..but not sure the sound test at exhaust and cylinder head are relevant when your heads nearly a metre away ..I wear ear plugs and have never had an issue on my 1300GS
Did you mention the rivals 🤔….. Good report, and if I was going to ride extreme distance I’d go for one, but it’s so much money and of late a bit of a thief magnet / expensive to insure…..it’s got everything though / and it handles 👍
A note for TH-cam reviewers ; See the lack of cut edits because you can't string a sentence together. See how this reviewer works professionally and isn't somebody that has some spare time and wants to foist their persona onto you. Sure he's a Bass guitar player but we can't hold that against him. A FECtastic review of the German tractor.
Every time I wonder which large capacity adventure bike I would buy, the biggest consideration for me is how does it compare to a 600cc super sport bike. 🙄
Best review of the 1300GSA ever! Thank you 🙏 I have ridden the 1300GS and really like on trips especially mountain roads with twistees. Though I feel the Ducati V4S has made me appreciate the difference in sportiness one can experience. But when I travel I fall back on the 1300GS. I guess GSA on my next trip ✌️
Hi Simon, What a great review and hope to see alot more. When I saw Trevor, I instantly thought of the late John Robinson, Gus Scott and Ronnie Smith. Sad times I know but on the occasion I met you I smiled to myself of all the antics you lot got up to and of course Trevor kindly demonstrated that at the end of the weigh in.😂👍
I can't believe they have made the 13GSA heavier yes heavier I have waited for this bike assuming there would be a weight saving along the same lines at the 13 gs 😡
It is a shame that you present so many times BMW 1300 all the bells and stupid staff and you do not mention that there is not automatic or even semi auto gears. That's the most important lack of the catalogue 😂
@boleneger Maybe not exactly the same system, and I think it's a small minority of potential buyers who are looking at that particular feature as a deciding factor. Time will tell.
Oh dear, you really haven’t got a clue, have you? We do not rely on advertising which is why we can remain independent and credible. Did we attend the world launch? No. We chose to review the bike in the UK using our own methods, measurements and selection of roads… that’s the entire point of the Geek Test. So while we also pride ourselves on having good working relationships with the manufacturers, we are certainly not in anyone's pocket. You’re welcome to take your negativity and spite elsewhere.
I would argue they have a good relationship with BMW in that they are able to get lots of there bikes, but most of all they are able to be honest about their products. If I'm right in saying their conclusion on the "standard" r1300gs was if you have a 1250 keep it 😆
OK Paul, oh wise and learned teacher! Please keep everyone informed of the content of which you approve. After all the rest of us are but human sheep, utterly incapable of mustering the half thought mentioned in order to form our own opinions. We're so lucky you're here.
Still the benchmark all the other manufacturers copy all these years on. 100+ years on that BMW boxer twin is a gem!
Top biking journalism

Great review of what is ultimately, an expensive bike. It will sell though despite its divisive looks!
That was Geek overload!! Boosting the EQ to highlight engine sound made me think I was watching a bass amp review. Great review Simon!!

Great review, thanks for putting all the work in to produce it! Interesting comparison with the CBR600RR, Love the geek tests.
Fantastic job guys 👌
Excellent report... still not going to buy one 🤣
Great to see Trev F after all these years.
@@barbarafee2482 he’s a happy man! Well, as happy as Uncle Trev manages 😉

Evolution of a great machine fantastic geekery as well.
The 1300 definitely sounds like a sewing machine with the filter working.
One question, please. We're both bikes running the same tyres.

All the designers over at BMW who worked on this bike should be fired immediately! It is hideous! It's the Worst looking bike I've ever seen.
so hideous that it's the current top seller in the alps. They will never fire winners.

Does the GSA not have ASA?

No need to watch this everyone. Bennett’s and B.M.W are hand in glove with each other. It really is so obvious to anyone with half a thought.
