This one is actually pretty good long term, but it does have an issue with side buttons on the pen (don't remember if it was out of the box or not) - the second button doesn't work 90% of the time, triggering the action of the first one. Something's faulty inside the buttons' hinge. Everything else about this tablet works really well for me.
I've been using this tablet ever since it first came out. It's really great, however, since I use this very often, the sandy texture has kind of worn off somewhat, if not just getting used to it. It says that it's scratch-resistant, but depending on how you look at the tablet and how often you draw with it, you'll definitely see scratches that are not wipeable. I started noticing this after a year of using it. Basically, the tablet can age, but it's still great. I haven't had any glitches or errors that sprung up in my two years of using it besides Krita. 1/10 times when drawing in Krita, stray marks are registered even if it's not pressed. It's weird and actually kind of frustrating to use in Krita. It doesn't have that problem at all in Clip Studio Paint, so it's probably just Krita. Keep in mind I don't use the express keys or the buttons on the pen! All in all, it's very great for it's purpose, especially for its price. The 8K+ levels of pressure sensitivity is intact, and it still functions very well besides it kind of cosmetically wearing out. If I didn't want to buy a display tablet, I'd definitely continue to use this. There's no need to buy any other regular tablet if you have this!
Nowadays, it becomes so much easier to start as an artist. There is a wide range of affordable tablets that are almost the same quality as Wacom and there are a bunch of different software that is user-friendly and affordable as well. I didn't have this when I just started, pretty jealous of you, new guys.
I'm just getting back into art as a hobby and it's amazing how much stuff has changed for budget/beginner artists since like 7 years ago. I remember when Wacom was pretty much the only decent graphics tablet (I paid over $300 for my Intuos4 M) and the only decent drawing/painting software (that didn't feel "gimmicky" like Artrage) was pretty much Photoshop/Paint Tool Sai/Corel Painter. Now there's so much good FREE art software. I mainly use Krita and Medibang and I feel like they can do everything Ph/PTS can do without having to worry about getting a virus on my computer from cracked software 😂. Clip Paint Studio which goes on sale for $30 sometimes is also really great.
I have wacom intuos 480 (a5 format) and it's not that bat tbh. I mean i can barely do shit, because drawing space is actually smaller than a5. It's not really comfortable to draw with it. Also the pen has this terrible plastic point or whatever and its often scratching the tablet. This one seems amazing tho. I was scrolling through wish looking for monoprice 10x6.25 tablet but i found this one instead. Seems amazing. Definitely gonna buy it (if it will still be available, that is).

Hello everyone! I just bought the Deco 01 and I love it. It feels premium and reliable until now. Thank you, Sir, for this review! Really pleased with my purchase.
Well, hopefully you get the V2 , not the V1 one. The V1 have a cheap plastic pen that doesn't have Bulge at all. Even worser than the cheaper XP pen Star 03.

Dude! The info on the pressure settings was really cool. I've watch a lot of videos and they seem to gloss over the subject. Thanks, keep making more vids.
Getting one for Christmas from the wifey! Can't wait! I have done tons of art for years, but never digital art. I hope this opens up a whole new world for me. Your review made me chose this one. Seems like for the price it's a great place to start without many compromises. Thanks Boro.
It's why I love that in Krita we can just switch brush/eraser with one key (E)... Anyway, it's great that Wacom has so much of a competition now. Btw. Borodante, I watched your skin tutorial (ofc) and it looks so easy on a video, and then I want to color skin in a strange orange-purple ambient light and it turns out so bad... Guess I'll have to practice more, especially because finding good (or any) reference of that kind of lightning is hard... So, new tutorial suggestion (maybe someday you'll want to do something like this): objects in strange lightning. Tutorial or even just a painting or a study with minimal explanation. I know how colors are supposed to work, you said it a lot of times already, but it's always different when I try to do it by myself, and your every video teaches me something new and valuable, so, I don't want to make you to do anything, I just think it would be interesting to see you fighting with colors again ;) (Over-pain of that ship and a monster was great). Also, I think I wanna make a youtube channel in a near future with that kind of painting you do on your channel, I see that there is not a lot of this on youtube (only lineart/anime artists and silent speedpaintings), would you like to have link when (if) it happens? Like, would you be interested in it at all? Just a question, don't feel pressured or anything.
read a little about subsurface scattering and how it affects color; it's not directly intuitive to predict what the skin would do when the lightrays of different colors scatter inside... on most scenarios it'll tend to red, but if there's not red contained in the lightray it will not do that (for example, a blue led light- the spectrum of led lights is highly discreet/not continuous... so that makes a blue led light not containing red that can be scattered inside the flesh); and when the color of the light is closer to the color of the skin, by theory it shoul de really noticeable the effect, but it wraps differently and go bunkers. Now, you have to also consider that if the light is -let's say- orange, and is noticeable that is orange, that means it does not have enough power to generate more than a thin line of sub surface scattering (or to penetrate the skin enough to come out on the other side)... light has to be really powerfull to do that (i.e: the sun, or a really close lamp) and when the light is that powerfull, it'll inevitably lead to white (again, the sun) also; i definitely would be interested in watching those videos if you make them :)
I DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE I COULD DO THAT. I've been using Krita for YEARS now but have never bothered to try pushing random buttons. So thank you random citizen for pointing that out.
@Victoria - yeah, I'm one of those nerds who reads an actual manuals sometimes :P I downloaded Krita before I got a tablet, so I had time to get to know it. Btw official manuals/tutorials for Krita are awesome and have everything you need to know, there is even a section "what you need to know if you worked with Photoshop/SAI/Gimp before" (it contains most important differences between those programs). @Ariel - it makes sense... it's just always a lot of things to remember at once, and skin is the hardest because of the so-called Borodante's "translucency" :) And color on the inside is different than on the surface, and you can have a lot of different skin tones, more yellow or more blueish or more violet... It's so hard. I'm still trying though. I'm gonna need a lot more faces' studies anyway, because I can draw a face pretty realistically with a ball point pen, but in Krita it just doesn't work that way. Videos will be on a different channel and a few months in the future (I wanna make a few videos more before I start a channel to have a buffer), but I'll be happy to notify you. And I promise I'm not horrible in art, here is my work in progress of my entry for Jazza COTM, it is exactly the environment I was talking about earlier, it's still not perfect and a lot of things are not lighted yet (I was trying to get the best lightning on a scene so I just ignored less important things for now): tiarevlyn.deviantart.com/art/Jazza-COTM-January-2018-WIP-726808991

Went ahead and picked one of these up during prime day, thanks to your video. My Wacom is like 10 years old so I figured it was a good time to upgrade. Thanks for this video!
Glad to see XP pen finally fixing their awful drivers. I got one two years and it was a week long ordeal to get basic functionality. The pen was also incredibly fragile and broke after dropping it on a carpeted floor. When it did work it was great. Then I installed windows update and the tablet completely stopped working. Cest la vie. If they've fixed those issues then fantastic and I might give them another chance next year.
Thanks for making this video Boro. I had never seen your stuff before but I’m writing an article for my site on affordable drawing tablets. I will be referencing this video and linking back to it until I can get my hands on one to conduct my own hands on review. You did a thorough job though and brought up some stuff I hadn’t considered yet as a beginning artist myself! I will link you to the article when it is up. Please let me know if you have any issues with this.
I found this tablet w everything for 20$ i cant wait for it to arrive! Im a begginer ,i been practicing tradicional art for 4 yrs,Im 12,and i cant wait to try digital art😺
On the site they said you can use both hands and don't worry for the cable with usb type c you can't go wrong when you connect the cable to something is always in the right side :)
Sorry my english is not perfect. The cable of the "type C connector" is rotated 90 degreee ok. The cable goes far away from the user, towards the back of the tablet, towards the computer. If I rotate the tablet 180 degree the conncetor is on the right but the cable will point towards me..in the oppiste direction of the computer. Is it weird I think...or the connector can be rotated too?
I just ordered this tablet from Amazon and then stumbled across this video. tablet will be here tomorrow and i am even more excited. PS: i love this guy :3
I just discovered your channel and it's amazing! It's very helpful me for as a beginner digital artist whose tablet doesn't even work well hehe. Keep it up!
Just got the tablet today- it's my first tablet as a matter of fact. It works excellent. Cant wait until i can afford a good program for it >_> Currently using firealpaca but this works pretty great too!
I plan to buy this tablet but then faound the deco 03 and the star 06 so I am not sure which one to buy as the prices are pretty much the same in that shop.
Thanks for this review! I have been scrambling for a new cheap alternative to Wacom...and this is the same price as the one I recently got for Christmas...that is way too small for my tv I use. 👍👍
I was plannign to save money for an Intuos pro medium, but since this tables looks so nice And Im broke right now, I think this is the best option at the moment.
You could program the tablet buttons too. The key combinations not available on the own could probably be achieved on the programmable tablet buttons (8)
Quick question. If I bought the newer, more comfortable pens from XP PEN (Same amount of pressure sensitivity.) Would they work with this tablet? I feel the way the pen looks and feels is probably the only slight issue I'd have. The newer ones just look and feel so comfortable. Please let me know if you have any information on that. Great review!!
Wow, this is actually a really nice tablet. I've never seriously considered a non-Wacom device before, but I'm going to have to give this some serious thought sometime. For the time being, I'm more than happy with my iPad Pro. I just wish Astro Pad worked with Windows. (I tried Duet and don't like its latency and quality issues.)
Wow much bigger surface for drawing for such less price, I saw your video I clicked in the links afterwards and am seriously considering buying instead saving up to 400 $ for Wacom medium. Tho you didn't made direct comparison between them, can you tell since you have both does this one can match with similar Wacom?
BORODANTE !! Brilliant review. Thanks so much for your helpful video. My 13yr old daughter is an excellent water colour and sketch artist and has been asking for a drawing tablet for her birthday. I think I will definitely get her this one. Just one question please if I may to you or anyone else - what's the most compatible open source drawing software that will work with this tablet please?
I'm gonna get this, i've been trying to get a better tablet than the one i've had for the past 2 and a half years, i need to move on to something of better quality. Thanks Borodante for this informative video.
LOL nope, because it's freaking hard to get anything in my country :( so i decided to just get an XP-pen star06, which is more expensive but i'm honestly not sure if i preffer it from what i saw from the Deco01, such is life.
Nice review. If you are an illustrator user, I request you to try one thing for me, Can you please use ROTATE tool with ALT click with the pen ? Bcoz when I try the mentioned, the whole windows freezez...
Thank you for the review, it was really helpful. Still I have a question and would be please if you could share your opinion. Do you think this tablet is suitable for teachers during distant learning courses? (for writing down equations, drawing simple plots, etc) or should I choose a cheaper model xp-pen since this model appears to be somewhat more professional?
Hi Borodante! Firstly - love your videos, they've been a real help in pushing me to develop my skills (I'm a video game artist but I mostly do 3D stuff and lighting). I'm currently using a rather old Wacom Bamboo, but had been considering looking at a new tablet. I can see that this one definitely gets a recommendation from you, but do you think it would be a worthwhile move from my current tablet? I'd love to know your opinion as I simply got handed this tablet so my knowledge is very limited!! Thanks
I’ve seen some reviews on Amazon saying that this tablet started acting weird after less than a year... Have you or anyone else in the comments come across this problem? ^~^
Hey Hello, I just went through the review and I am pretty impressed with the XP-Pen Deco, but I also went to search for "I week later" review of yours and couldn't find it. Could you please help me decide? I am a beginner and would that Tablet be good to go? Thanks.
Bro can you ask XP-Pen to make a beginners tutorial for dummies my first time buying a tablet i just don't know how to use it lol. Love your tutorial by the way
Hi Boro, I appreciate your review. I have a question, would you please tell me if this tablet will work to clean up pictures in photoshop? I'm beginner in all this staff, so I have no idea. Thank you!
I'm a fan of both Huions and XP-Pens. What I don't like about the Deco is that the pen doesn't have rubber... Also, how the heck do you Draw with your tablet positioned like that?
Is there any way of erasing the writings on the tablet?? Tablet working area looks very rough.Should I put the screen protector, which I got with the tablet? I purchased it today. Thanks.
I'm trying to understand how it works. Do you push the button to make it start drawing or does putting the pen to pad do that? Another way to ask the same thing: When you lift it, does the mouse move or does the mouse move when you have pen to pad without pressing a button?
I'm planning on buying this exact model. Great review. Do you still use the tablet? Is it still relevant this 2020? :)
@@BoroCG thanks for the honest and prompt reply. Stay safe! 😊👌🏽
Roger Jhon Damaso same,, does anyone know how well the V2 works ?
@Roger Jhon Damaso what do you have to say about it after using it?

Sirius 26 people get better with digital tablet over time and practice :)
I picked up this tablet last month and have quite fallen in love with it :D
Does it still work after one year? Any cons?
I found this tablet w everything for 20$ i cant wait for it to arrive! Im a begginer ,i been practicing tradicional art for 4 yrs,Im 12,and i cant wait to try digital art😺
My wacom Bamboo tablet finally took a dump and I'm getting this tablet Saturday! Super excited!
Brittany Thompson don’t suggest this shit, no screen means shit
The buttons on the tablet can be put on the right side? The usb cable will point towards the user in that case...I don't think it is possible.
Is it weird I think...or the connector can be rotated too?
the connector can be rotated and go either way because it is type c (search it) so if you are left handed you will have 0 problems with the cable
UBS type c is reversible tho
it's TYPE C dude
just flip and plug then you good to go
thanks for making it so easy to choose tablet
Holy shit it have the same features as my wacom intuos m2 but is 1/3 cheaper Im shook
Xd i recently bought a 13 inch screen tablet from xp-pen for roughly the same price as a wacom intuos pro
I actually have an XP-Pen tablet, and I love it.. Mine is the Star06.. I love mine
im wondering if i should get this one or the star 6....
Which is better so far, huion h640p or xp pen deco 1?
Please answer me I like to buy a pen tab 😊😊 thankyouuu

Am I the only person who likes his videos before ven watching it coz I know that there'll be useful information for sure.?
I just liked it without watching!
I just ordered this tablet from Amazon and then stumbled across this video. tablet will be here tomorrow and i am even more excited. PS: i love this guy :3
soooo did you get it? if so, how is it till now?
Huion h640 and Xp Pen Deco 1, which one you choose for beginner?
Huion 950p and deco 01. What u choice?
@@muhammadirvan6593 Deco 1 ofc. Huion hurts my expectation hard
i have the same question. so, what did you get?
I have the same question tooooo can somebody answerrr
i have a deco 01, it’s amazing but the buttons on the pen itself are so easily pressed so it’s easy to accidentally erase stuff
I just discovered your channel and it's amazing! It's very helpful me for as a beginner digital artist whose tablet doesn't even work well hehe. Keep it up!
Thank you man! I'm looking for a really cool cheap tablet and I think I just found it. Thanks!
Just got the tablet today- it's my first tablet as a matter of fact. It works excellent. Cant wait until i can afford a good program for it >_>
Currently using firealpaca but this works pretty great too!
If you want something a little more high up that's free, try Krita
You just talked me into buying this, thanks!
Omg, i'm brazilian and, this video really helps me in my choice, very nice review!! thank U o/
I plan to buy this tablet but then faound the deco 03 and the star 06 so I am not sure which one to buy as the prices are pretty much the same in that shop.
Don't be sad while using. 😂
Cool... thanks for the demo.... going to buy it today :D
hows it? am planning to buy
@@kpranjith Go ahead. Very useful.
@@amaruf2008 Okay i'll buy it! thanks for the response :))
Got one today fantastic device not dissatisfied
Thanks for this review! I have been scrambling for a new cheap alternative to Wacom...and this is the same price as the one I recently got for Christmas...that is way too small for my tv I use. 👍👍
I was plannign to save money for an Intuos pro medium, but since this tables looks so nice And Im broke right now, I think this is the best option at the moment.
literally perfect
(I tried Duet and don't like its latency and quality issues.)
appreciate the review brother. really helped me solidify my choice. almost spent 200 on a tablet hahha.
almost the same here, but some research really helped me seal the deal, cant wait to get my hands on this one and kick start!
Wow much bigger surface for drawing for such less price, I saw your video I clicked in the links afterwards and am seriously considering buying instead saving up to 400 $ for Wacom medium. Tho you didn't made direct comparison between them, can you tell since you have both does this one can match with similar Wacom?
I am considering about wishing the deco 01 for Christmas
Am gonna get it next monday! Awesome Review!
Does it work with Windows 11?
BORODANTE !! Brilliant review. Thanks so much for your helpful video. My 13yr old daughter is an excellent water colour and sketch artist and has been asking for a drawing tablet for her birthday. I think I will definitely get her this one. Just one question please if I may to you or anyone else - what's the most compatible open source drawing software that will work with this tablet please?
I'm gonna get this, i've been trying to get a better tablet than the one i've had for the past 2 and a half years, i need to move on to something of better quality. Thanks Borodante for this informative video.
Did you buy it?
LOL nope, because it's freaking hard to get anything in my country :( so i decided to just get an XP-pen star06, which is more expensive but i'm honestly not sure if i preffer it from what i saw from the Deco01, such is life.
Scroptels Gluzar they don't ship to my country too.
Very very nice and informative review, thanks.
I'm planning on buying this exact model. Great review. Do you still use the tablet? Is it still relevant this 2022? :)
Well done, thank you.
Very helpful and useful! Thank you!
Nice review. If you are an illustrator user, I request you to try one thing for me, Can you please use ROTATE tool with ALT click with the pen ? Bcoz when I try the mentioned, the whole windows freezez...
If my Intuos Pro breaks any time soon, I'll probably get this thing. I't probably wont break, I take good care of my things.
Thank you for the review, it was really helpful. Still I have a question and would be please if you could share your opinion. Do you think this tablet is suitable for teachers during distant learning courses? (for writing down equations, drawing simple plots, etc) or should I choose a cheaper model xp-pen since this model appears to be somewhat more professional?
yes of course
Classic 👌 review
i love that tablet
which do you prefer, onscreen or looking at the monitor?
Hello. I want to buy a cheap tablet up to around 50$. Which would you rather recommend, this XP or Huion H640P? ...Or maybe something else?Tnx
It looks so prettyyy ; ;
I also liked all the comments on here
Hey Hello, I just went through the review and I am pretty impressed with the XP-Pen Deco, but I also went to search for "I week later" review of yours and couldn't find it. Could you please help me decide? I am a beginner and would that Tablet be good to go? Thanks.
where did you get the skull on your desk?
review the deco 03 please 👍
very good video
Bro can you ask XP-Pen to make a beginners tutorial for dummies my first time buying a tablet i just don't know how to use it lol. Love your tutorial by the way
Hi Boro, I appreciate your review. I have a question, would you please tell me if this tablet will work to clean up pictures in photoshop? I'm beginner in all this staff, so I have no idea. Thank you!
Just got it today
Hi, im kinda stucked on choosing from huion h1060 plus or xp pen deco 01 v2...
What would you suggest? It will be very helpful..
Thanks.
thnaks for this review bro, gonna buy it tomorrow :)
Does it show pointer on screen when pen is not touching the tablet?
I'm trying to understand how it works. Do you push the button to make it start drawing or does putting the pen to pad do that? Another way to ask the same thing: When you lift it, does the mouse move or does the mouse move when you have pen to pad without pressing a button?
