@@theoddone887 I mean it is and it isn't Dragon Slayer is the most ridiculous thing about guts (and his magical prosthetic), but when it comes to fighting with a single eye, its similar to fighting with a helmet on. The key is to fight around your impaired vision. which would mean keeping your head on a tilt and moving and keeping your opponent in view of your good eye as much as possible. Many people with one eye or damaged vision, have continued to be skillful melee and ranged combatants, its all about having the conviction to learn around your disability. For instance with helmets typically vision is impaired on your X and Y axis anyways, even more so depending on the helmet style which could remove neck mobility. Yet historically, Knights were typically not only fierce combatants but they would remain so even with their helmet on and the face covering equipped.
Muscle memory has a massive part to do with his capability to fight with only one eye. he's been on the battlefield since he was a child. he was only 19 when he lost his eye as well. That's a decent time to adapt to a new situation build on your experiences beforehand. if he had to work with depth outside of combat, especially the further distances it'd more difficult over distance. however even when he uses his crossbow it's not more than probably 60 feet, which since it's a spray and pray weapon it doesn't matter a huge amount. because he knows that range of his sword he can use that as a comparison for distance. if he was trying to make precise cuts like Serpico used to then yeah, it's be way harder. however because the sword is so massive he out ranges everyone and can assume what they are going to be aiming at based on stance.
Would hardly call it damage at all. It happening could only mean that Griffith allowed it to. Never understood the hype around that moment. Honestly it's probably the most fan servicey thing in the whole manga.
Serpico was an enjoyable character from Conviction Arc all the way to his fight with Guts. After that he's mostly there for background. I still like the guy though.
Honestly I fell like Serpico’s character development is pretty much complete. If anyone dies in the new Band Serpico makes the most sense. He protected Farnese, theyve changed together, we know his backstory and he fully accepts Guts as a friend now. That’s why he feels stagnant. Only real thing left in the story for him is for Farnese to find out that theyre siblings. So a Sacrificial Death or a Tragic Twist death makes sense for him after that fact will be known. Although Miura may have some plan for him we don’t know.
Thats sad and true. Id like to see him grow in a way thats seperate from farnese though. Start finding things he wants outside of farnese. Plus if guts is eventually going to attack falconia serpico is the guy id want watching his back. Itd be cool if he actually becomes griffith like. Sortof a what guts and griffith could have been if they stayed on the right path together

Great video! I love serpico as a character in this story. He fits in so well and really helps to smooth the transition of before eclipse to after eclipse. I trust him about as far as I could throw him but I WANT to trust him more. I'm really interested to see where his story goes in the fantasia arc
9:07 Griffith's sword isn't a rapier. I think it would be best described as a cavalry sabre though like many of Berserk's weapons it takes inspiration from a few different historical weapons.

From reading the last of Fantasia arc, personally believe that Serpico will gain another char growth through (don't get mad) Molda. Serpico whole life has only been to protect Farnese while burying himself. Late chapter of Berserk shown us in Elfenheim other than the big guns on the island, one character stood up plot wise, and happened to be the antithesis of Serpico which is the delinquent witch Molda. Late Sensei Miura is no stranger using love story to drive forward plot and character development which as a reader was due for our coolboy Serpico.
It would be cool to see this happening after Elfhelm's destruction, and if it happens, not only would we get a new OTP If we get a situation like the one in Golden Age between Gutsca, but Serpico will be the luckiest Berserk character alive for having clapped Morda's cheeks!
_Scary thought:_ Serpico's relation to Farnese as her half-brother will *FINALLY* be revealed...when Serpico activates Guts' behelit. Why else is Miura sitting on this?
If Miura is to be believed, berserk is 50-70% done. This leaves plenty of time for Serpico and the other members of Guts' new crew to each get their own little arc. I never got the sense that he's been sidelined though. I feel as if the constant hiatus and iffy release schedule also contributes to a feeling of stagnation that may not really be there if you reread the story all the way through. Kinda like how everybody complained about the boat. Bottomline: we all just have to wait. Put our grasses on and nothing will be wong.
The boat and island arc weren't about serpico-- but he had *really good* material immediately before that. Plus those two arcs mostly focus on Farnese and Casca. He's comparatively sidelined-- but so is *most* of the cast.

I've entertained that idea too, and sadly, its almost impossible. The budget alone of all the eldritch creatures and fantasy elements would be way more insane than Game of Thrones ever did. Not to mention the theme and settings really make it risky for todays environment. Thats not including that the series is barely at 4/5th of its story, if being generous.
If you think about Serpico, while being his own character, has a beautiful blend of traits exhibited by both Guts and Griffith. Really makes you wonder how is story arc is ultimately going to play out 🤔

We learned from the Slug Count's Beherit activation that Miura will grab his readers by the balls and give them what they didn't know they wanted. What if Casca getting into an entanglement with Serpico is that drama the readers didn't know they wanted? On that note, maybe Guts get horny and flirts with banging Farnese. We saw foreshadowing of this when Farnese straddles Guts' hyper weapon. I could see Morda whipping up a horny potion and feeding it to Guts just to see what would happen. Don't forget that Farnese also did BDSM on Guts while she wasn't even possessed by demons. Ultimately, everyone will go back to their canonical partners. It will make the payoff worth it though. Just having Serpico and Guts save their damsels from monsters in order to win their love is boring. Love triangles are exciting.
the sexual tension and its mechanics are really deep in the relationship between the characters...Serp is only her half brother...Farni desires strength and shes a full blooded noble and Serp is her little project..and in truth he is way smarter and stronger of a fighter more like she wanted to be....Farni...would not admit it but she would like Guts sexualy...but i think there is a "sexual" relationship with Serp as well..My mother was nice enought to give me insite into Female sexuality..and she was very honest about certain things...the first men she felt a sexual attraction to or had dirty dreams about...were her own father and grandfather...but she explained that it has to do with genetics and breeding..she did not only carry these genes but the females in the family that loved them..she had her grandma and mothers X.just like my dad told me you will always find out your attracted to a women like your mom..but my mom was even more honest about it saying her "first" dirty dreams were about her grandfather..but this was programing set up by DNA and she new it..Serps and Farni relation is more thant brother and sister in a very Fruedian way.
You should remove stagnation from the titles, you did not even mentioned anything about it, makes the whole 2 videos feel like a "teaser" to a more collected work. I am not saying you can't do but if you are doing it on purpose, you should know it is not an honest route to take.
Meh, the entire manga has been stagnant since like the tower of conviction to be honest. That the entire second half of the manga has being basically dedicated to never ending mob slashing of some orcs, getting to the city, and then fighting for volumes some demons there to build up the indian guy because grifith was going to make a tree out of him and make fantasia is one of the lamest developments in execution I've seen, and at the end it gave us nothing but the terrible arc of the pirates and the last bunch of chapters which for the surprise of anyone have been good because it tackles the golden arc and feels like the first time the story is progressing since like 15 years ago. The only characters that had anything going on for them since the tower were Farnese and the witch a little bit, but overall they all have been no characters and are just there to drag the lame mob slashing and commenting how crazy, strong and big guts is, and puck being """"""funny"""""", it just feels like watching a shitty marvel movie. And the same for Griffith's group, a shit ton of volumes later and the band is as bland as the first day.
