Awesome job, Ron! Thanks for helping share all the new features of Camtasia 2020! :)
Thanks, @TechSmith! Camtasia 2020 is a big step up. Thanks for packing so much good stuff in this release.
One thing you never fixed is how often it crashes 👍🏼
My problem is that you can’t rotate annotations directly in the video window.
@@BenSussmanpro Sure you can, you just have to make sure it's selected in the timeline first, then click the handle in the Canvas window and rotate. I hope that helps!
@@techsmith please ADD video reverse feature
nice fast overview, thanks for putting this together
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Great overview! I really love how you show all of these featurs in < 5 minutes! Other people make 20 min videos, only cover some few topics and don't focus. Thanks for that!!
Thanks so much! I made the video I wished others would make. It took hours to make, but I'm glad it's been helpful.
I need key!!
Awesome work! Great video - thank you!
Thanks! It takes a LONG time to make a video that short. ;) Glad it was helpful.
... and here we have our Video Pocket Reference book! Great job my friend!
Awesome. Thanks!
Heck of a review! I just installed 2020 today. I LOVE some of these updates, especially around timeline workflow,
Thanks, Jason! Some of my top favorites are the Track Mattes, Templates, Replaceable media, and presets/favorites.
Can someone give me key??
Great overview! Helped me decide to upgrade. The magnet feature and the detachable timeline feature are a great addition to Camtasia. Can't wait to try it. Thanks Ron for your help.
You bet! I'm glad the video was helpful for you.
Personally, I think the Track Mattes are the best new feature. They can really help us make more professional looking videos. I've been playing with them for months and have found several uses for them.
I didn't believe it when I tried it. Thank you for sharing
Wow, thanks for this -- there's a lot more in here than I found myself while playing around with it. 👍
Awesome! Same here. There's A LOT of stuff to play around with and learn. I'm excited about this update.
Awesome video Ron! I really love this... great work.
I really appreciate that, Gord. Thanks!
Concise and got all the information I needed. This is a great update :)
Thank you! Glad it was useful for you.
This is a Lot of information in a short time. Thank God for pause lol
Hahaha! :D Yeah, the goal was as much as possible in the shortest time possible. I'll have videos coming out in the next few weeks that go longer than 7 seconds per topic. ;)
Thanks for sharing 🙏
You're welcome!
I really hope they have fixed performance issues. I have created a complete course, editing 15 hours of footage, adding effects, arrows, text.. on some moments Camtasia was a a frustration program to work with. i have a beefy computer here for graphic work.. So no excuses for running very slow.
Based my experience and the experience of others, Camtasia 2020 is definitely slower than 2019. I've noticed that the longer I leave the program open, the slower it gets. I need to restart Camtasia after some time to get it to speed up.
When creating courses, I recommend creating several, smaller projects rather than try to work with longer sequences.
@@CamAnswers hm.. that doenst sound as an upgrade to me. I prefer a faster program that all those new add-ons. How great they may sound. Performance over looks right!
Best shortest video without blah blah blahs ! Thanks a lot :)
Thanks! It takes HOURS to make. I'm glad my efforts are appreciated. :)
I really wish they would add some more video features like luts, advanced color correction etc. Just look at Filmora and movavi which are cheaper for example.
I've asked for those things, too. And to as a step in the right direction, they've added brightness, contrast, and saturation somewhat recently. That's certainly a step in the right direction. I'm also hoping that it could be the foundation for LUTs in the future. Just seeing their addition of alpha and luma so we can do mattes is a HUGE step toward a more robust video editor.
Very helpful, thanks
You bet! And be sure to check out the additional videos if you need detail on any of the individual items here:
th-cam.com/play/PLTKwiiVxkGCPrZOdTQBWrbxOXyqEoQ4rQ.html
That's how you get 'er done! Great video Ron. #51 - Save Frame from Playhead is also handier than Export Frame.
Thanks, Lon! Didn't know that one. Will add that for future content.
@@CamAnswers Right-click on the playhead and Add Exported Frame. I like it because you don't have to save the image as a file...it just adds it instantly to the playhead location and in the Media Bin.
still cant shrink the timelines which are too big for smaller screens
Yeah, there are many times that I'd like to take those track heights down to half or even smaller when I'm not working on them - just so I can see the upper tracks that I AM working on. At least TechSmith is always taking feedback.
Thank you for this! Super cool video! A+++
Perfect!! But 03:07 is only transition and not the video, right?
Right. Instead of going to the left, you go to the right. We still CANNOT play a video in reverse.
My goodness, track mattes! I remember learning this technique from your course but this new features looks way easier!!
This is a great over Ron! Key takeaways for me - track mattes, favorites, ripple move, media bin layout, widened grab area :) (that has been a pet peave of mine), updated recorder interface. Am I right in saying though that recordings from the webcam would still only be 720p?
Yes, the track mattes are WAY easier now. And your webcam recordings will be as large as your camera allows. The camera I used in the video was OLD. Its max resolution was lower than 720 I think. If your webcam goes up to 1080, then Camtasia should be able to capture it. Let me know what your experience is.
@@CamAnswers Thanks for your reply. I'm going to test out webcam settings in the coming days and let you know. I'm also going to give a shout out to your video on my vlog in a few minutes. th-cam.com/play/PLWd-ys7mr3MwPPAH_01Y8m5zoOTpOo4im.html Can I confirm that Camtasia 9 files would still be compatible with Camtasia 2020?
@@democastmedia3235 Sorry I missed your reply somehow. Yes! Camtasia 9 files ARE compatible but some parts of Camtasia 8 are NOT compatible. And thanks for the link!
@@CamAnswers All good. Life gets busy. Yeah, Lon Naylor also confirmed this to me recently. I tested the webcam settings and it now captures 1080p.
good work king, love you
Great job Ron👍👍👍
Thanks, Ronan!
Wait - Isn’t the pitch feature only available on the mac version? I saw that on a TechSmith web page. Good video though!
The Mac version gives you the ability to add an effect to shift the pitch. This 2020 feature for PC doesn't allow you to add the effect and change the pitch like you can on Mac. It just maintains the original pitch.
Well that sucks! Also, I can’t rotate/flip annotations, so basically this software is useless to me.
@@BenSussmanpro We CAN rotate and flip annotations. Rotate on the X, Y, and Z axes. Spin several times if needed. If you're having trouble with the rotation, right click the annotation and choose Group. Then try rotating again. Rotation can be found in the Properties Panel on the right.
Cam Answers Thanks for that. I didn’t realize you have to group - (not intuitive), but doesn’t always work. I switched to a usb mouse from bluetooth & that seems to help. I have to learn this better, but it shouldn’t be this difficult.
@@BenSussmanpro Yes, not intuitive, but glad to help. And you got this! Take time and learn it. Like most things, the more time you spend with it, the easier it will become. Good luck and let me know if you run into other questions. -Ron
*When will they add video stabilization to the effects?*
I don't think they will. Camtasia is more for screen recording and basic to intermediate video editing. Video stabilization is more advanced. If someone needs stabilization, then they're looking for a more robust video program than Camtasia was likely designed to be.
Great video brother, but make a full video on it 👍
Thanks, bro. I think you'll find what you're looking for here: th-cam.com/play/PLTKwiiVxkGCPrZOdTQBWrbxOXyqEoQ4rQ.html
Thanks! - Perfect for my ADHD
Glad it was able to keep your attention. :)
Ty
You're welcome! :) I hope the short format was helpful.
Still they haven't included the option to add stroke to text neither the option to record directly to MP4 :/
Nope, not yet. But they are always taking suggestions. You can share your ideas with TechSmith or upvote the ideas of others.
It saves us a lot of time !
So happy it's helpful!
Sir, is there a free montage program that has filters that make the video appear from an ancient historical period
I am not aware of any type of program or template that does what you're asking.
On 4:11 you have visual effect mask the in new update?
And why you don't have this on 4:29?
In this case, you couldn't see the entire mountain video when I had the track matte on, so I disabled the track matte to fully show the color tint effect on the mountain.
@@CamAnswers Why I don’t see the mask effect in my camtasia 2020 which you have in the panel on the left 4:11
@Duck Felix: Items #37-44 are the Mac-only updates. Those are screenshots from the Mac version so there are some differences from the Windows version including "Mask" and "Freeze Region".
Is this better than Filmora 9?
I've never used Filmora so I'm not the best person to answer this, but if you're creating videos that include screen recording, I would recommend Camtasia. If you don't need screen recording, then stick with what you know.
I m using camtasia 2019 but transitions are not enough. Are there new transition effects ? I like spin transition effects.
In Camtasia 2019, you can use the Whip spin transition (which is one of their best transitions). You can also use Cube rotate, Flip, Fold, and Slide transitions. If you speed those up, they can give you a similar effect. As for 2020, not many new transitions. What's cool, though, is that you can use Track Mattes to create custom transitions. This lets you use alpha transparency or luminosity to make your own transitions. I talk about that a bit here: th-cam.com/video/2IlWlKYYDgk/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for this great video. Can I make a small point? I find your person's physical appearance quite blurry because the webcam image is scaled up.
Glad the video was helpful. And regarding the blurry video, yes, Yes, YES! It was driving me a little crazy, too. It took me a bit, but just this week I got a new setup with a Sony a6400. This current series of videos (New in Camtasia 2020) is going to continue through the end of August, but I'm already working on a new series of videos that will look SO much better from the camera. Thank you for the kind suggestion. :) It is appreciated.
@@CamAnswers Your straight and honest answer just landed you a subscription. From me. :)
It's just awesome
Thanks so much
You're welcome!
Someone should write an app to page the Camtasia user when their screen recording is done. Movovi has a schedule timer so users set the recording time and don't have to babysit their software.
Huh. Interesting idea. Enable an optional SMS notification for example.
@@CamAnswers , I was being facetious about texting when Camtasia is done recording a screen video. What is needed is a "schedule timer" that stops Camtasia from recording once the video has played. That was I don't have to delete an hour (or more) of static screen and store waste.
@@larrymaloney877 Haha. You got me. I see what you mean - something that detects end-of-video status and stops the recorder after, say 5 seconds of static, black, or silence.
@@CamAnswers, yea, it could be a messaging system - or something simpler, like a ball that bounces down the stairs, hits the door, the door moves, a pan drops, a dog licks up the spilled water - her tail wags, and the tail is connected to a linkage that stops Snagit (or Camtasia) from recording. Or, if your not mechanically inclined, the ability to set a time limit in the recording software (hours, minutes, seconds) so I can sleep while those little electrons magically push huge binary numbers around doing my thinking.
Please give good discount on camtasia I need it on urgent basis
The present cost of this is too high
I don't control the cost, but you can use it for free for 30 days.
There is still no mask in Camtasia 2020 isn't it?
We CAN use Track Mattes to create our own custom masks/mattes with Alpha and Luma keying. But if you're looking for a rectangular or oval mask tool in the software, no, it's not there. But we can create and combine shapes to make our own masks.
@@CamAnswers ok thanks a lot about your information. Actually I am familiar with camtasia, but one thing about a mask that I hope to use to make an easy way in masking like premiere pro or filmora pro.
@@smartstriker82 Yes, there is no quick or easy tool in Camtasia for this. But if you want a simple mask like a rectangle or oval/ellipse, then that can be created the fastest. But it's still not as fast as you can create inside Filmora, for example.
Saludos, excelent video, como puedo ver lo que voy haciendo en pantalla completa?
Thank you. View > Canvas > Detach Canvas will let you disconnect the canvas and then you can see it full screen.
Is really Windows 7 can't be used with Camtasia 2020? I need it working on Win 7!
That's right. TechSmith shares these requirements on this page: www.techsmith.com/camtasia-system-requirements.html
The first requirement is Windows 10.
@@CamAnswers I know many examples of other software, that is actually OK with Win 7. So my ask is - Camtasia at all will not work on Win 7 or just some feature(s) used by 0.01% will not work on Win7? P.S: I'm with new machine, but Win 10 is NOT option. I have installed +50 different packages for programming, it is not an option Win 10 to do update and I to start wonder why something is not workin. I worked on low level with hardware for TV channels, such problems are absolute not acceptable.
@@dvplaysolutionsltd4087 I haven't tried this personally, but my understanding is: If you attempt to install Camtasia 2020 on a Win 7 PC, it will not let you install. It stops you before you can even try. So Win 7 is not an option. If you must use Win 7, then I suggest using Camtasia 2019.
Can you provide me key??
I don't have one to give. Sorry.
all workеd
Excellent!
