This is fantastic. I made the chapatis oil-free, using cassava flour instead of corn starch. I rolled out the dough dusting with the rice flour, without any plastic or cling film. All the chapatis fluffed up completely and were delicious. Thank you so much. x
I'm so glad I found this video. I bought a 5 kilo bag of Swad gluten free chapati flour thinking it was something (?) else. But the store was an hour drive from me and I have gluten free friends. So I made a batch. They came out like a cross between cardboard and Army fatigues. Auntie's suggestion to include a soft cooked potato and the reasons behind it were especially gratifying. I had a small sweet potato so I cooked and used it. Worked like a charm. The edges on my finished chapattis were more fluted than the examples so I probably needed a touch more water but they were still much better than my previous attempts. I may even be able to share some with my friend after I work out the bugs (not literally). Thank you.
I made the chapati with this flour without the potato. I am diabetic. I kneaded with very hot water. It turned out to be very tasty but not very light or fluffy. I should have watched this video. Next time I will try this way. I loved the taste. Had with Andhra dal with palak
Since you are diabetic, it's probably not a good idea to add the potato. Try this recipe instead: th-cam.com/video/Ca_KtSt223M/w-d-xo.html. It's low carb.
Thank you so much for making and posting this video! I'm making chapati from scratch for the first time, and your video is helping me figure it out! Thank you so much!
My 2 yr old had his 1st gluten free chapati and relished it. Could you please consider sharing some more recipes made from the gluten free basic flour mix. Looking forward for some more exciting meals and moments with our little one. Thanks a lot.
Thank you for this helpful video and recipe. I am going to make it today, but with boiled carrot. I enjoy all your videos and thank you for contributing them.
Thank you for posting this video. I am on Gluten free diet and couldn't find anything alternative to rotis, so this is something I will definitely try, Thanks alot!
Definitely going to make these! The brown rice gluten free tortillas that I was buying crack and fall apart and are very expensive. These will definitely work!
Thank you for this! I have many Food Allergies and am actually making this RIGHT NOW! (in the rising stage at the moment). I'm sooo excited to try them and hope they turn out great. Then I can say Bye Bye to buying those expensive, crumbly GF tortillas in stores! :)
I really like that you guys are doing gluten-free recipes! I too have to eat gluten free as well as dairy and sugar free so any new recipes are greatly appreciated! :)
Thank you sooo much for this video. I havd just made them and im REALLY excited. They are fantastic. I eat gluten free and not good with yeast so these are just perfect. I even got bubbles 🤣🤣 🥰👍
can you freeze the dough and use it later even if you add the boil potatoes to it? If so, how long is the dough good for after you freeze it? Thanks!! love the recipe!
hi sorghum mixed with nachini (red millet) flour was some years back poor farmers family food in India but now its become the food for the elite its very healthy too and gluten free
You can also make gluten free chapati and parotha using any gluten free flour such as kuttu atta (buckwheat flour), jowar flour etc by adding crushed flaxseed and warm water to give the binding. For one cup of flour use one teaspoon of crushed flaxseed . Keep the dough soft. Edit: make sure that the flaxseed mixture with the water is gooey before adding to the flour. This will ensure that the dough binds well.
I'm a very loyal viewer of yours...and I've noticed you're in different kitchen, did you renovate or move to a new house? Also wanted to ask...in most your videos since the beginning, I've noticed you have checkerboard wooden block, what do you use it for? Is it used as support of the containers and prevent scratches on countertop?
I would like to use my never used Chef Pro Premium Plus electric Tortilla/Roti maker for this recipe. How would I alter the recipe so that I could use it? Thank you
hello i tried this tonight using your gf flour mix. i kneeded it for about 5 minutes and rested it for 30 min. when i rolled out and cooked on skillet it just didnt puff up. it tasted good but just didnt have the texture i was expecting.
Hello! Thanks for the recipe!! For those who can't eat grains (rice), can coconut flour be substituted for the rice flour? Thanks so much if you can reply!!!!!! :)
I used rice flour and they all cracked and became dry and hard. Came here to see that it is possible to make a gluten free version. I think I would have had more flavour from the tree bark in my garden. Mine was awful! I'll have to re-try it.

You could use a thicker clear plastic bag cut open which helps us to roll the roti without the crease we get in cling film.
This is a great idea! I've done this in a pinch for other rolled out doughs
