    Step 1 : Salicylic acid cleanser 2%
Step 2 : Prescription Retinoids (tretinoin, adapalene)
    Step 3 : Simple moisturizer
Stick with it for at least 6 weeks.
Another tips is sunscreen, diet, exercise, sleep, drink water.

@@ilovelisa2594 Yes you're actually right but if the Salicylic acid is in a wash form then it's fine. Also if you are using a leave on Salicylic acid product then you can use it in the AM then use your Retinoid (Adapalene) at night time :) Once I tried using a leave on 2% Salicylic acid then followed it up with a 0.3% Adapalene and my face stung a bit and I had to sit infront of the fan for like 15 min lol to make my face feel better since it was stinging. I was like okay I am not doing that again haha.

Dr Davin, you treated me many years ago and I've been following your channel since it came about! I am in my mid-20s now and I use 15% Finecea in the AM and 0.025% Tretinoin in the PM with a super simple, very gentle routine. You got me started on the La Roche Posay range and I always have a bottle of the Anthelios SPF50+ or the Toleraine UV 30+ in my bag. Simplifying my routine helped a lot. Effectively remove my makeup and then use a simple cleanser and moisturiser and only 3 actives (niac, azelaic acid and glycolic acid) that I rotate through every 3 days. I want to start a retinoid but I’ve been hesitant. Starting slowly should do the job though

@@lautuby How long are you trying products for? Acne treatments almost always make the acne worse before it gets better. It's called purging and it's a good sign it's working. Give it a good 3 months to decide whether it's improved your skin.

Let face completely dry first, use light serum (hyaluronic acid) and eye cream, wait 15mins and then apply pea size amount throughout face, followed by moisturizer. If you start Vit A, to prevent peeling from dryness and breaking out like crazy. Use moisturizer first and then apply the smallest of the smallest amount of the Vit A, smear it well on your hands and tap your face mostly around the eyes (but not on the eyelids and eyebags area), forehead, and cheeks, then neck and chest. Then apply moisturizer again. Creating a sandwich 🥪 effect. Your skin will be very grateful with minimum break-out. I swear Vit A should come with very specific instructions. Step by step cause I was peeling like a snake the 1st time I use it and my skin felt like a desert ready to crack any minute. The moisturizer is a MUST with Tretinoin or Retin-A or Differin among other names. Start with the lowest %. Until your skin can handle it. Is extremely strong! After a year of using it, my skin is happier and I'll have product for at least 5 years. That's how much I use every other day. Good luck!

I found the SA in the washes I used stripped my skin. I switched to slightly milder cleansers and started using a tonic with AHA + BHA and my skin seems to tolerate that better. I guess the concentration is low enough. What I found was a game changer for me was using the Neutrogena hydro boost gel on damp skin underneath my moisturizer. I used to get a lot of peeling on my nose, I guess my skin was very dehydrated.

What about rubbing alcohol if you have oily skin. I find this extremely effective along with extremely hot showers with a luffa for areas that accumulate more dead skin. (I actually use sandpaper sometimes) These two combined extremely hot water and alcohol seems to remove acne for me within three days if not give me an immediate change. Bare in mind I’m a guy who gets acne from TRT and I have been a breakdancer, bodybuilder and martial artist. Breakdancing means a lot of abrasion on points of contact palms shoulders knees elbows back. I’ve always been a very naturally physically tough person and I’m not terribly troubled by things like bloody knuckles or calluses or rug burn. I generally shrug that stuff of as nothing at all so I might have particularly durable skin that heals well. But I used to get really bad acne on my back and I tried basically lightly scolding my back in my mind as a way of disinfection and after doing that for a week or two I stop getting bad acne in that area for the rest of my life until recently with TRT. So I am not sure if I just essentially killed my pours making it impossible to get acne or if I did somehow remove some bacteria that had settled their. But since then anytime I get a flair up I go back to that and I noticed I’m getting a lot of build up of dead skin so I’ve been doing a bit of abrasion on purposes and the alcohol was my mothers suggestion. Again I would never suggest that others attempt it because I have the opposite of sensitive skin. But I am just curious why alcohol which simultaneously removes oil and disinfects isn’t something people use with oily acned skin. Perhaps I’m too much of a brute but it doesn’t seem to cause me problems. I will say this isn’t a daily thing I do these things for a few days until I see a decrease in symptoms and then I let my skin recover. I am curious about retinol but it sounds really uncomfortable to me.

I see a lot of TH-camrs raving about not washing in the morning, or at least just rinsing with water and no face wash. Could it be better for some skin types and not others to skip it? I have very dry skin, I can go to bed shiny from serums and moisturizer, then wake up and my skin is bone dry. Just curious what's best.

I have dry skin too. I don't wash my face in the morning and it really helps. Just make sure you have a clean pillow/bedding and you should be good. I'd recommend getting a hydrating cleanser as well as a SA one (I got both from CeraVe) and to alternate them every night.

    Dr. Davin,
As someone who wants to begin C02 laser therapy, is the "Tetra C02 Coolpeel" just as powerful? I've been told it is, but I'm curious what you think. I've spent a lot of money on improving my scars and I really just want to nip it in the bud. I saw the video of "one of your favorite patients" about my age, in her 20s.. you said that she got the C02 over the course of a year, every 8 weeks? Was this a C02 laser that required a lot of downtime? Or was it similar to the Tetra Coolpeel in that it requires very little downtime?
