    NOTE: after about two weeks the cable starts to get sticky unlike the Tanchjim Tanya that doesn’t, I think it’ll only get worse from now on but we’ll see 😁
    Let me know how is the cable on yours!

    Spot on Review. I just got the Chu‘s. I‘ve been using AirPods Pro for 3 years now and I was never satisfied with the sound quality. The moment I put in the Chus and browsed through some songs, I was shocked. Incredible to what crappy sound I got used to. It sounds so much more well defined and rounded, nicer treble, deeper, clearer bass and the separation is night and day. Soundstage is the most shocking to me. In comparison, it’s non existent on the AirPods Pros. Selling the AirPods because now I simply can’t go back. I gladly sacrifice convenience for better sound quality.

      True. I bought the Chu just because I want the Spring Tips.
      Due to size difference of my ear canals, I need a S and M sized eartips, and Moondrop sold different sizes of tips separately, so it will be cheaper if I will buy the Chu. 🤣

    I found some trick if you don't want the cable to fall off your ears but you're annoyed of ear hooks (especially if you wanna put it in smaller case)
    you just getthe hook and loop thing that came wrapped the cable and wrap around both left and right cable slightly tight and boom, you got a cinch to lock it under your chin and stop the cables to fall off

    You should try the 7hz salnotes zero. Much better than the Chu for me. They graph almost the same but with a few key differences. A bit less shouty high-midrange, less harsh treble and slightly elevated sub-bass. To me it fixed every weakness of the Chu while keeping all of the things that made the Chu amazing, thus is the undisputed king of the 20$. Also it has a detachable cable.

      but then, the CHU having a set of spring tips that cost more that 10$ if you buy it separately still makes it a better deal for me those spring tips are amazing normally earphones under 100$ only comes with cheap eartips so if you decide to upgrade you can still use the CHU spring tips.

      Not sure what you've encountered before and if you watched the video, but I'm really comparing the Chu to the TWS earbuds that I have and I really found them to be better

  • @Jp_116
    @Jp_116 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    My issue with the Chus is that when I got mine, right out of the box, it had this annoying super thin ringing. Sometimes it disappears but the fact that it happens is a bit, meh. Maybe it only happens with the mic version coz when I use a DAC dongle that doesn't have mic support, the tinnitus-like ringing does not appear at all.
    Another issue is that the texture of the cable is kinda weird. I say weird coz it's the first cable I got with an IEM that, for some reason, keeps snagging onto things like some sticky tape. The Quarks's cable is better IMO.
    Another one is the Spring tips. I was happy with them at first, but overtime I find them lacking. They used to be sticky and a very good partner with the Chus. But the fact that it keeps falling off after getting a bit sweaty, is a bit of a turn off.
    And last but not the least, the one weakness almost every budget Moondrop IEM has, it is very prone to getting moisture in its buds and ends up getting muted. Living in a tropical country, I already had to switch the filters twice now. Quite annoying and I have to spend more to always fix them.
    I really want to love the Chus, and if I had to gift other people with good budget IEMs, this would be my #1 choice. But because of every cons I just mentioned, I am hesitant to recommend it. And if I did, I always have to put a big disclaimer to them. Maybe it would work better for people living in temperate countries. But getting a budget Moondrop IEMs while living in a very humid country, that's an expensive investment overtime. I would rather get the Kato if I want to forget about the filter problems 😅.
    The Chus sounds good tho. Certainly better than the Quarks.

      As an Indian as well, the best budget earphones available (excluding the Chi-fis) would be any Beyerdynamic offering. I don't like the budget offerings by Skullcandy, JBL, audio technica, Sennheiser, soundmagic, Sony anymore. And I've tried quite a few of them. Most of them are either aggressively V shaped or bass heavy. I don't know what is it with companies marketing a whole lot of bass to Indians. It's just the quantity of bass, not the quality of it. It's just a muddy mess.

    Inexpensive earphones are getting very good, no doubt. What bothers me is their durability. Over the past five years I've had to toss a four pairs of earphones because they just stopped working (e.g., one side just stops producing sound, the cables fall apart, one BA driver fails). All these great sounding earphones (and reviews) are useless because they just encourage people to buy goods that fall apart a week after the warranty expires. Here's my challenge to the industry: design a great sounding pair of earbuds that can easily be disassembled and repaired by the consumer.
