@@Flickit100 This is generally known. In and out of the music industry. And you can hear it for yourself. Also, Alan wasn't in the band when Martin took over. But helped bring them to the world stage.
Vince is a great synth player, but I think alans synths sounds is much superb lots of fascinating and striking sound effects it feels dark to listen but you canot resist that you start to sink with it, the sound on every DM albums are very stunning specialy when alan was their member back then..
The reason why Vince left Depeche Mode is that their music is sounding darker and if you listen to Vince's works Yazoo and Erasure sounds lighter and not darker.
I had no idea how much Alan Wilder brought to this band until he left. After he left, my interest in depeche mode dried up very quickly. Just wasn't the same. They have had a few really good songs since Wilder left, but they were just missing the"Wilder effect", and it just wasn't the same.
so sad to hear this from dave: "alan's mix is fantastic"... they need to reunite in the studio with alan producer, hope egos on both sides are not there anymore
I just wish people would do remixes like they did them in the 80's. Meaning, a different mix of the song ... but not a total rewrite. Who needs to hear a song from Speak & Spell as a house banger? Not me, that's for sure. Listen to Martin Rushents Dare remixes. That's what I'm talking about.
The only three fruitfull members were Vince Clark, Martin Gore and Alan Wilder. Clark left early on, and Alan Wilder, who was the architect of DM's sound, left 13 years later. Martin Gore must have felt lonely when came the time to do remixes... No wonder he called Clark and Wilder. ;-)
Where is Fletcher? Not in the band. Depeche Mode has inventive and creative people as band members not talentless parasites leaching out money who’s only reason for being in the band is because they are ‘Martin’s mate’
"Depeche Mode guitarist Martin Gore" try writer of 99% of depeche Mode's music and truly the driving force behind the music, who does play guitar and keys, and sing solo on songs as well
Well, Basildon is in the county of Essex, which means "East Saxons", and Saxony is a part of Germany, so I can certainly see how the mix up could have arisen! :D

We all agree here that Alan found and perfected the Depeche Mode sound ,he was the soul of the band
As well as Martin.
True... And that's why he left. And I don't blame him.
Up to a certain point but when Martin took over, the sound changed 😕

Clark
