I had no idea how much Alan Wilder brought to this band until he left. After he left, my interest in depeche mode dried up very quickly. Just wasn't the same. They have had a few really good songs since Wilder left, but they were just missing the"Wilder effect", and it just wasn't the same.

I just wish people would do remixes like they did them in the 80's. Meaning, a different mix of the song ... but not a total rewrite. Who needs to hear a song from Speak & Spell as a house banger? Not me, that's for sure. Listen to Martin Rushents Dare remixes. That's what I'm talking about.

The only three fruitfull members were Vince Clark, Martin Gore and Alan Wilder. Clark left early on, and Alan Wilder, who was the architect of DM's sound, left 13 years later. Martin Gore must have felt lonely when came the time to do remixes... No wonder he called Clark and Wilder. ;-)

Alan made some fantastic work with DM,however, Martin's songwriting has surpassed Alan's Alan's efforts post DM are really bland, not much beautiful Art anymore,His biggest mistake was leaving DM,Martin is a definite songwriting genius,up there with Lennon in my opinion.

You do know that Alan’s post DM work is for fun. He’s enjoying his retirement and being a great dad. Martin has always been a good songwriter but without Alan his music can never be great again.

@@DxModel219 I have transcribed countless pieces of very technical, artistic music. The two known greats being Steve Vai's and Johann Sebastian Bach's music, just to name the more known Artists, also I have performed a lot of this music live. I know my instrument pretty much fully, in other words, I can improvise to mostly anything.Music, especially Artistic and technical music is what I know the most about, because of ungodly hours, years of serious practice, I am not tooting my own horn, just letting you know who I am when it comes to the Art of understanding Beautiful music.Alan was amazing with DM, but sadly once he departed from the DM boys, his music lacked any real beauty.I love what Alan contributed during his days with DM, But Martin is way beyond Alan now, he has surpassed him 10 fold when it comes to the beauty in the Art of music, trust me.I know that the average DM fan cannot understand this because most are not serious Musicians, just listeners of music, There is a huge difference in the two. There is a reason why very Artistic and/or skillful Music does not resonate with the Mainstream masses,(hence the plethora of rap& hip hop, and mindless cliche pop exist),because people don't understand, they don't have the "skills" to recognize and resonate with certain higher levels of Art.Martin is a genius songwriter, period.
