ONEONTA GORGE | River Walkway to Raging Waterfall of Oregon

- The Oneonta Gorge is a scenic gorge located in the Columbia River Gorge area east of Portland, Oregon. With 4 surrounding waterfalls, the Lower Oneonta Falls (most spectacular of the falls) has been preserved as a natural habitat, so there is no trail or footpath. The only way to see it is by walking a mile upstream in knee/chest-high water on very rocky terrain and over a massive log-jam at the base on the creek.
We were also lucky enough to be at the waterfall during the 2017 total solar eclipse that began it's United States trail of totality in Oregon. It went from day to night, leaving us in total darkness for a few minutes at the base of the waterfall. Truly a once in a lifetime experience.

Pre fire Oneonta was so beautiful. It breaks my heart to see it now. It was like watching my temple burn. Gutted.
Is it that bad now?
Im sure its gotten better.
Where can you see it now?
I moved to Texas from Portland back in January and this just makes me miss home so much.
Sorry to bring up some nostalgia. Come back to the Gorge any time!!!!
VideoVision360 It’s a really awesome video and depicts it all very well. You did an amazing job. I was actually at work in Oregon during the eclipse, so cool to see.
@@ittz_Katie Why thank you so much! I loved the hike! And I'm glad I could show you the eclipse from the Gorge. It literally was pitch dark and we were all by ourselves next to the waterfall. It was kinda surreal.
Great video, thank you for sharing the adventure!
Heavy Boys On A Trail So glad you like it! 🙏🏼🤘🏼🎥
Fell in love with this place first time I came here in 2016; sad it’s closed due to eagle creek fire and now corona but someday we’ll be back !
This makes me want to move back to Oregon
Sorry to bring up some nostalgia. Come back to the Gorge any time!!!!
Best part about Oregon is when you find out about the secret hike spots 🤙🏾
Such a magical place.
This is my Dreamland ! I wish I could go there someday if God wish! I really love this place. I'm falling in love with this wonderful nature since I saw it from the beginning ! Please someone take me there please ! Lol
Adore Gigin Era, it is closed indefinitely due to the Eagle Creek Fire damage in 2017. 😞
Miss that place ❤
Next time you visit the falls, try free climbing the right side (as your facing towards the falls) of the deep water section. It's fun. Only takes you maybe 3 feet above the waterline, but you stay dryer.
Nice Pro Tip!
Increible!!! andare por ahi en julio...
The river walkway looks very adventurous compared to the land trek
It's actually a creek just getting really high in the winter because of all the rain in Northern Oregon. The hard part is the Log Jam. Once on the other side its pretty easy.
How was the trekk to get there? How long was it? I'd love to do this but my knees getting weaker by the minute. I wanna do this so bad!!! Parking fees? Any park admissions?
Trek was not hard, except for some slight caution at the dam. I have a very weak knee with arthritis and it was no problem for me. Parking was free and right at the entrance. No park admissions when I went. I heard there was a fire recently so I. would check in to that. Pro Tip: Go super early to beat the foot traffic. We went at 7am and only saw a couple people the entire time. Enjoy!
@@VideoVision360 thanks for all the info!!!
