    One thing doctors & psychologists teach for people to do during times of pain endurance and/or severe anxiety episodes is to count (numbers) because it distracts the mind and forces you to focus on the task of completing proper numerical sequence. My take on this is to count, but in another language. I am learning French because I love to go to Quebec & numbers are an essential element of learning a language. If you would like to learn another language, learn to count to one hundred (in particular this is important because of the time involved in doing it). During your next tattoo session count ascending and descending in the foreign language at a set pace, such as one number per second. You will be surprised how much concentration it will take & how effective it is in helping you to suppress the pain from the tattoo work. Just a suggestion, but I recommend it because it worked for me. Take care & be safe.

      Anyway I don't think it would work with severe pain or anxiety to be honest. At least not with everybody.

    During my last tattoo a girl was getting the final touches on her back tattoo, I had so much respect for that girl. She had her entire back down, and it looked amazing, but it must have taken so much time and effort.

  • @Lavandulaaa
    @Lavandulaaa 8 ปีที่แล้ว +76

    I felt so bad for that girl who got her chest piece completely copied, more so because the comments called her a whiney white girl and selfish because she was upset. It would have been different if it was something simple but something unique and designed just for her should be just that- just for her. I love the sneak peaks of your tattoo so far though! Love the theme it's giving off.

    It honestly breaks my heart to hear and see that people are ignorant enough to copy someones permanent artwork. It also makes me sick that an 'artist' would even think about doing that..its a damn shame to the industry.

    I found the same thing for my back, there was a magic line where below it hurt very badly and above it was tolerable. I find I can only do the entire outline one day and then shading is saved for another appointment. Shading right after everything has been lined really hurts, every thing is already so raw. I can stand a tattoo for about 3-3.5 hours and then my stamina for taking the pain goes out the window and I feel crabby! I also find I need to be tattooed steady for the 3.5 hours or else having a break gives my body time to come down from handling the pain and starting up again hurts worse than it did before the break.

    The trickiest part of my back tattoo was coordinating my breathing with my artist tattooing so I didn't make any sudden movements while she was drawing a line (my entire tattoo is 9 square inches of very fine black line and dot work). I've got a rib, foot, and back tattoo and the foot one (even though it's TINY) was the absolute WORST to get.

    I'm frustrated that my first and so far only tattoo on my back is a print out tree and birds from online, but to make it my own I'm going to turn it into a full fairytale scene where I'm going to have an underground cave with fairytale creatures tattooed under the tree and have a sunset tattooed around the tree.
    I don't doubt others have the exact same tattoo that I currently do, so it'll be good to eventually make it my own!

    I just got my first tattoo 2 weeks ago, and I only wanted the outlining first, and I wanted it like that for a while, same with my next one on the 23rd. It makes me think that posting a picture of it was bad because yeah, I would hate for someone to steal it and get it themselves considering how I drew them and the idea of them was completely original. But at the same time I love it so much that not sharing it would make me so sad.

    Ohhhh yes. Every time my artist crossed the spine or got in a sensitive spot on my back...Ick. The rub down was the worst though. I hate getting cleaned up at the end of a session. I think we did mine in 14 hours total. Two sessions, because I'd get in the zone and keep pushing. The recovery was a little rougher though. 😳 I think you made the right call! You're looking fierce, lady!

  • @sararo4515
    @sararo4515 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've heard from one of the artists Ive gotten tattooed from that pain tolerance lessens with age, which I completely get. When I first started getting tattooed 3 years ago, I had a waaaay better tolerance than I even do now. That said, I got part of my lower back tattooed last month and it was hell. I can't even imagine getting my whole back tattooed right now honestly. Kudos to you.
    My tolerance for lines and shading completely depends on location, I think. Either way, they're both awful. I hate people that act like we have to say tattoos don't hurt or aren't that bad, cause I literally hate getting tattooed so much.
    Sorry for writing a book woops 😙

    katrin's tattoo was indeed completely copied my god. Taking inspiration is something completely different than flatout copying. The most sucky thing about tattoos being stolen is that well.. They are quite permanent, so you can't really be like "can you delete this???" like, that's sadly not a thing :/

    • @amy_o
      @amy_o 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Completely agree but the way the girl was bashed I don't think is fair, this tattoo is permanent, she will probably have to live with the horrible feeling she got from obviously a TH-camr she really liked and a tattoo she really enjoyed. Using it was wrong but i feel people got so angey

    I think the topic of this video is really important, I know a lot of people will think people are over-exaggerating but having something so personal stolen is such a big no no. It's like people understand that stealing a piece of art (digitally or physical art) is unacceptable, but for some reason see tattoo theft as something different? The mind boggles.

    I posted a photo of my chest tattoo when it was done, and a girl I was friends with facebook (we used to game together) completely copied it exactly, same spot any everything. When I called her out on it she said something like "yeah def my inspo", and I was like "great, thanks for asking ahead of time..." It's an awful feeling, I cried. People don't understand what it's like to be robbed of something on your body forever.

    Hi Qcknd, totally new to your channel an I know you finished this piece but for people reading the comments this may be helpful. When your getting work done on your back and spine and you lay your head down or extend the neck it will make the tattoo hurt worse. This is due to the nerves in your spine are extended with the muscle and they have no "wiggle" room to put it. so when your relaxed and laying down with a pillow it can be less painful. its all preference though, I know some artist like people sitting up. I had a ex get a back piece and he was a physical therapist an this is what he had explained. same goes for if your back is hurting or your lower back, try not to tense of look down it makes it hurt more.

The only spot that really got me 'wiggling' (as the artist put it lol) is when it was closer to my neck. and yes! wiggling the feet thing. Omg i did it too. Kinda distracted me in a way. My piece took two sessions.. first session was outlining and shading (which was about 3 hours) and then the second session was just the coloring. (which was another 2-3 hours... I don't remember.) i have just over half my back tattooed. the outline was really hard, i ended up passing out in a pool of drool when she was doing the outlining on my spine. had my second session just recently to do shading and colours and i took two endone tablets - this kicked in fairly quickly , i could still feel the pain but it was soo much more manageable. like i could have gone a few more hours, where as before i was counting down the minutes till i could finish.

    My first and currently only tattoo I have is a simple outline (getting colored sometime this year) of a rose on my back with really cool vine like pieces that branch out to my shoulders and the stem goes maybe half way down my spine. Oddly enough, it was more painful on my shoulder blades than my spine which I was not expecting. My tattoo artist (also my step dad which is really cool) didn't think I could get through it in one sitting and I surprised him on that.

    For my back tattoo the outline for me was super easy the shading was more annoying and slightly more painful. But mine only took a little more than two hours so I can imagine that after a while it would suck.

    i totally agree about hiding your face. When I was last getting my sleeve worked on, my artist had me on my stomach so that my forearm was hanging over the side so she could tattoo the back of my arm better, so I hid my face in my other arm and did my breathing and all that and told myself it didn't hurt nearly as much as I though I did (which actually did help dull the pain a bit to my surprise lol MIND OVER MATTER!!!) , but having your face hidden makes it waaaaay easier

    I was just wondering, since you were talking about it in this video and I have seen Katrin Berndt's video on tattoo's being stolen. What your opinion is on stealing script tattoos? I completely understand where you are both coming from with your original designs for piece of art on your body being stolen but I was just wondering if that extended to script tattoos? As they are pieces of writing I wasn't sure if it was different or not. Thanks

    This looks awesome!! I'm so happy you're finally getting your back tattoo c: I got my first tattoo almost 2 weeks ago and it's still healing but I can't wait to get more tattoos in the future *o* this was really random.. however, I'm just so in love with you, your tattoos and this channel, you're honestly my favourite youtuber ♡ and I love the new intro sooooo much, it's just amazing!

    i have to agree about the back. for my second tattoo i got a lotus flower on the upper center part of my back right on the spine. it was supposed to have color and all this cool stuff but it hurt so bad and took so long that i jusr kept it the outline. will admit this even though it hurt that tattoo is my favorite i have.

    Do you have any videos specifically about your arm tattoos? I'm getting my first tattoo(s) in May and I'm getting a medium cartoon on my upper right arm and a small piece on the back of my neck and I just wanted to watch a video about one persons experience!

    just found your channel and love these tattoo talk tuesdays! you have such beautiful traditional style tattoos. :)
    while i personally don't post pictures of my tattoos because i'm paranoid someone will steal them, the argument that sharing pics of your tattoo means your ink is fair game for other people to copy is completely ridiculous. i know i should never read the comment sections of controversial videos, but damn - the comment section on Katrin Berndt's tattoo plagiarism video nearly made my head explode! i cannot believe so many people don't see the validity of artistic ethics.

    So would your back be the hardest to sit through tattoo to date for you in the bell shape areas of the spine and lower part you mentioned then? If not which would be your most intense or rough tattoo you've had done to date? All my heavily tattooed almost bodysuited matey's say the underarms, head, back & front torso in general are the most testing areas for them to get tattooed. I think probably b/c of all the nerve endings, organs & protruding bones. But then again bony areas anywhere in the body suck 😝in my opinion ppl who get really large, detailed tattoo designs are tough, to sit for hours at a time for several sessions for months if not years on end.

    I totally get how hiding your face and moving you feet and hands helps, I'm the same. I've only had one tattoo where I wasn't able to hide my face and lucky it was only a small one because that was horrible

    So...I don't understand why anyone would want to "Copy" someone else's tattoo. The closest I have EVER come to that is just a few days ago for Friday the 13th. I went down to one of our local shops for a discounted tattoo. I was going to just get a generic traditional snake head for $20...but ended up changing my mind and getting a $60 piece (which was still DEEPLY discounted flash). It wasn't original, but I saw the work that the artist I really wanted was doing for $60 and decided to get something more expensive, but that represented me more and would be better work than the generic $13 + 7 tip tattoo for Friday the 13th.
    Tattoos are a really personal thing. Even the cheap ones. It is going to be permanent...outside of laser removal. So you better make it something that is personal to you...spend the extra money...take the time to find an artist you LOVE! You will be much happier in the long run.
