This has been my wife's ringtone for over 3 years now. Just found out where it came from while watching an hour long Early-Late 2000's tv commerical compilation video.
The bells used in American handbell choirs are almost always English handbells. "English handbells" is a reference to a specific type of handbells, not to the country of origin. While some American handbell choirs do use bells made in England, the majority play bells made either by Malmark Bellcraftsmen or by Schulmerich Carillons, both based in Pennsylvania. In the United Kingdom, there is a distinction between "American handbells" and "English handbells" - "English handbells" are traditional, with leather clapper heads and handles (such as the bells Whitechapel makes), while "American handbells" use modern materials, such as plastic and rubber, to produce the same effect (such as those produced by Malmark and Schulmerich). In America, however, they are all called English handbells.
Well when you schedule every cashier and only 7 show up what do you expect? That's why Walmart created the Key Dates for the holidays. This way it counts as two call ins for everyone who calls in on the holidays. That way we can have every register open. I worked the frontend for 15 year, and I have now gone to overnight mod team. I will never go back to the frontend. The customers treat you like trash and makes you not want to show up for work!! That's why most cashiers call in all the time!! If customers would treat the cashiers better maybe Walmart could keep more cashiers up at the front!!!
Self checkout is usually much easier and faster because 1. There is usually little to no line and 2. You scan it faster than the person cashing you out.
Now my local Walmart has added more self check out lanes and they only have like 6-8 lanes for regular check out lanes which doesn't bother me. Some elderly cashiers are so slow it's not even funny.
Thank you swimdork1! Just for clarification: "Wizards in Winter" is a terrific medly by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra that blends the cherished Christmas melodies of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and "Carol of the Bells" with their own original music.
I like to imagine the people scrambling from one lane to another trying to keep up as they flash their lights to the tune of the song going on and off break.
I am a Walmart person. Hate Target with a passion. Just saw this ad on abc... I love Carol of the Bells, and this ad is perfect. Way to go wm... good job! =D
I suspect Wal-Mart, or their ad agency, hired studio musicians and recorded this version specifically to fit in the 30 second time frame for the commercial. I found three audio files, but TH-cam won't allow me to post them in a comment. Visit my blog (click "More" next to "About this video" above) to access them.
man i can't even get over how long this commercial took to make. I would bet money that it took about 8 weeks to film this and even longer to edit the commercial. Nobody that I know realizes this!
@Iktumizai Not exactly the same, but there is a nice instrumental version of Carol of the Bells on "The Complete Christmas Collection" album. You can hear a sample if you search for the album on a well-known website that sells all sorts of things, including mp3's.
Hi rachelfish11! The title of the song is "Carol of the Bells". I suspect Wal-Mart hired an arranger & studio musicians to recorded this version specifically to fit in the 30 second time frame for the commercial. I found three audio files, but TH-cam won't allow me to post them in a comment. Visit my blog (click "More" next to "About this video" above) to access them. The easiest way to locate them is to click "Christmas Music" in the Categories list. Merry Christmas! :-)

I highly doubt that "sir". You don't know me. I'm glad and happy you got your Bachelors and Masters and all that jazz. Some of us are also working on that. Only 1 semester to go. All you are doing is bashing someone you don't know. Wal-Mart is a good place to work for a temporary job. Key word, temporary. And frankly, thanks to President Bush, even an education doesn't mean much when the good jobs are leaving the US. hopefully when I'm done, there will still be good jobs around.
This commercial will always hold a special place in my heart. Takes me back :D
Dragontron20 I agree it was so cool!
Despite what is going on right now, they need to bring this ad back.....it brings a lot of memories.
With the inside of a remodeled Walmart
LEGIT REMEMBER SEEING THIS ON TV HOLY SHIT NOSTALGIA
Legend has it this was the only time that Walmart has ever had more than 2 registers open at the same time
Puts me in that nostalgic/holiday mood every time. Happy holidays.
There is absolutely NO WAY this is from 2007. I am absolutely stunned that this was 10 years ago, I thought it was from 2011 or something
awesome right:3 10 year anniversary yay!! ^///^ Merry Christmas everyone and happy holidays
It is but they put the new logo on there
I thought your comment was from last year. You still alive?

I always found this song haunting.

The name of the song is "The Carol of the Bells".
Funny anytime i go to Walmart there's only 3 lanes open
That's pretty much true especially where I live. LOL!!
JT Roll yeah. Even at Christmas!
The one on U.S. 19 in Pinellas Park only has 2 open when I go and they have 36 registers. :(
Bring this back
This is my favorite Christmas commercial and always puts me in the Christmas mood. Idk why, but its been that way since it came out 3
I just love this song! My favorite! Totally gets me in the spirt for Christmas!
Whenever this commercial comes on I always sing "Ding! Fries are Done!" from that one Family Guy episode.
opening more lanes my ass, the most ive seen is 7 cashiers out of 25 registers.
Probably because they can't keep a good worker if their lives depended on it. I worked there through college, I will never step foot in there again.

"Opening more lanes to make the holidays easier." Hey Walmart, self-checkouts don't count.

Thank you swimdork1! Just for clarification: "Wizards in Winter" is a terrific medly by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra that blends the cherished Christmas melodies of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and "Carol of the Bells" with their own original music.
Favorite commercial. Hopefully they show it this year!
I remember seeing this and all I could think of was rushed holiday shoppers frantically changing lanes as the lights go on and off!😂
I like to imagine the people scrambling from one lane to another trying to keep up as they flash their lights to the tune of the song going on and off break.

Now you're lucky if Wal-Mart has one checkout open.
I'm not a Wal-Mart fan, but I like this particular ad (the way they do the song is catchy).

See my blog for links to other versions (can't post the link in a comment, so look for carol-of-the-bells-audio-files).
I miss the 1992 Walmart logo 😢:(
Because customers expect all the registers open all the time and if they have to wait for more than 30 seconds, it's our fault.
i heard it took them like 34 tries till they finally got it down
Ahaah! I wish they actually did that at Wal-Mart...(:
Oh Well!!
Ding! Fries are done.
very well done! so sad there's no walmart in singapore :( but anyway i enjoyed the carol of the bells!
LMAO! *Remembers that one*
2007???! WHAT? no way
Hahaha, just saw this on TV.
Lol if they cause a power surge with the all flickering lights.
I saw Walmart rollback smiley in background
That logo with that slogan doesn't sit right
Manager: EVERYONE GET BACK TO WORK!!!!
