    Cool! I don't have any of the 'Last 17' figures so I didn't realize that Luke's body under the poncho looks this good.

    Sorry for the late post, just catching up on all the shows, but a neat follow up for this custom would be a fabric vest. Best of both Jedi throne room with a removable vest for Jabbas palace room. Thanks as always for thes great how-tos, restoration and custom mods.

      No problem at all. These figures are really tough, so taking the heads off is easy to do. Just make sure to warm them up first. Glad you like the end result. Cheers

    You should do a removable helmet endor luke if you can using endor leia helmet and palace luke figure with a endor luke poncho and holster, and even give him a green lightsaber, if you could do it it would be a fantastic idea for a video 👍

    Loved this video, Dave, thanks. I don't own either of these vintage Kenner Lukes, so I had no idea the clothing design was different. Have to give Kenner credit for giving Endor Luke the correct tunic under his poncho, when it probably would have been easier to just reuse Jedi Knight Luke's body and fit it with a new Endor head with the helmet.

    I always wished they gave the same treatment to Endor Luke that they did to Endor Leia (removable helmet). That's a bit of a wonky head with the helmet permanently attached.
    Nice, simple custom.

    • @FraDonaghyMusic
      @FraDonaghyMusic 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I imagine it was permanently attached to his head because kids would not have bought Jedi Luke, as he would have just been Endor Luke without the poncho and helmet.

    • @MichaelJShaffer
      @MichaelJShaffer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FraDonaghyMusic Perhaps but there were other figures that were VERY similar (Hoth trooper & Hoth Commander) and we all wanted those, too. Plus, almost every other figure in the ROTJ line had removable helmets (Lando & Leia 2 different ones). I do see your point though.

    Wonderful! Just bought an Endor Luke to do just this custom! Is there a list or a guide as to which figures have pegs on the shoulders and which have pegs on the heads? Some head swaps would be incompatible.

    • @samanthaadams619

  • @TheTWRModeller

    I'm doing this same recipe but giving it a twist - telescoping lightsaber gimmick by swapping the right arm with a Ben Kenobi figure! It should be the right proportion, anyway. The lightsaber, however, would be either made using your scratch-build method or by using a yellow one and make it green.

  • @TheToyBoy1978
    @TheToyBoy1978 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Looks good.
    Sometimes the pegs can be different from figure to figure. I had 2 Princess Leias in Hoth attire, 1 had a nice head but scuffed body and vice versa. I wanted to make 1 nice example out of the 2 so i removed both heads only to find they were incompatible so i ended up having to do a limb swap instead.

    I have find this with a few figures, and have found that putting them in hot water for 30 seconds makes the job easy. Also swapped a Luke head on a speeder bike pilot, so it looks like he's in the speeder bike armour, and have the helmet under an arm. Love the possibilities of head swapping, can create a whole new set of figures.

    Great video as always.
    Do you know if this is a common thing to do, or could it been sold like this due to an error in the factory?
    I bought a vintage Endor Luke from a seller who sold it as an Jedi Luke, due to His head was either swapped or put together faulty from start...
    This also leaves me with the question if you know any good site (exp Ebay) who sells repro Endor helmets. =)

    To make a full on throne room Luke attire, this an option too by the way; you could paint in a silver buckle for the belt and then done. Most of the Luke Skywalker figures from Kenner do not even have at least a small smudge tint of little silverish or white paint on the belt buckles. The only Luke that has a light belt buckle is Tatooine Luke. The rest such as:
    -Bespin Luke
    -Hoth Luke
    -Poncho endor luke/Throne room Luke
    Do not have painted in buckles. Stormtrooper Luke and X-wing Luke are no need for painted in buckles since they do not have belts on them. Jedi Luke from jabbas palace doesn't have a belt either because he's wearing robes around his final duel attire. I presume Kenner forgot to add paint to the belt buckles because they had done that with the first Luke tatooine figure From 1978 to 1983. To 84. Which they forgot. Hmm...🤔🤔🤔
