    It's been a year now since this issue. For me it was just needing the Tune-Up. What was done in this video corrected the problem and I haven't had any issues with it until my original, Clutch went out last month at about 160,000mi! After getting it back from the shop and costing over $900! Now, my sensor in my thermostat has gone out. So, at the beginning of Dec 2020, I will be getting a new thermostat for it. Plus, I will have to take it back to the shop that did the clutch, cause every since getting it back, it squeals every time I engage my clutch. Also it is now leaking where they separated my transmission to get to the clutch. Other than that, It has been running so good. I love my little car.

      Yeah, I know the feeling...my 2011 notchback (5) speed is loved, maintained and garaged. Thanks for the shared feeling and the video as I just did my re-plug on a 70s deg day using NKG ZFR6FIX-11 6441 Kansas City, MO.

    I have a 2010 Chevy Aveo5 that I got last year with 231000 km on it I've put 40000+ in a year and just switched out my SP a second time yesterday. I'm putting in a new fuel pump tomorrow (different problem but has been ongoing) and getting a new coil pack sometime this week...and plan to get a new battery. I adore this car so much, its the best car I've ever had and has taught me so much about car care. I've had the bloody P0420 code on my car almost since I got it, but I've replaced almost everything but the Cat...and if a cat is $900+ I can live with the CEL on.
    I hope you love your car as much as I do. Great little Chevys.

      Thank you so much for your comment! I do love that little car so much! It's so much fun to drive. Now that my ex-husband, in the video and I, have separated and getting a divorce. I am giving it to my 18yr old daughter. I bought that car brand new and have loved it so much. Since, I'm living full-time in my hybrid now, I'm driving my Kia, which is my tow vehicle. But, I want my kiddo to have it and to get many more good years and miles out of it!

      I just replaced my cat. You could just empty your cat out with a drill and spade bit and then use spark plug nonfouler on the downstream O2 sensor.

    I was wondering why you didn't check the gaps on the spark plugs as you removed them from the boxes?
    From my experience, I found out that putting the proper gaps on the spark plugs really improves the performance of the engine.
    Do you know what's the gap on the spark plugs on that engine ?

    I was having the same issues. Ended up being the catalytic converter not allowing enough air out the exhaust. Eventually it wore down enough, replacing the coil packs and plugs didn’t fix the issue. I recommend using a catalytic converter cleaner while it may still work because the converters aren’t cheap considering one of them is integrated with the exhaust manifold.

      I appreciate your comment. I will see about the catalytic converter cleaner. It's been about a year since I had this issue. For me it was just needing the tune-up.

    Should be using antiseize compound on them plugs friends.

      I just did my 2011 1.6 today..and yes, I used antiseize on all four treads.

      And a dab of dielectric grease on the boots

      He didn't.. he just used a regular socket wrench. I'm no mechanic, but I was surprised he didn't seem worried about being slow and careful with the wrench.

    My ignition coil went pretty quickly on my 2011 Aveo5, exactly the same under the hood as the Aveo. Seems to be a relatively common part to go on this car, went for me at about 120,000 km (75,000 miles) and not sure if the one it had was factory installed either.

      I have a 2011 Aveo5 as well.. Yes seems like mine needs the coil pack every 75,000 miles. Tip, I got a lifetime warrantee on mine from Auto Zone.. Since I now have 175,000 miles on my car.

    I'm glad I found your video. I have a 2011 Chevy Aveo that I'm about to start fixing up myself. I'm a woman and I have not found a mechanic than I trust so this video is very helpful. I hope your car is still running well for you!! Quick question, are you all automotive technicians or mechanics? The tune up was done so quickly and efficiently!! :)

      Thank you so much for your comment and questions. I do still have my Lil Aveo. I love that car so much that when my ex husband and I separated this yr, I took my Lil Aveo with me, I bought it before I was with him. Gave him my tow vehicle and bought a truck to tow my Camper/Home with. It's been such a reliable Lil Car. I have put 160,000 fun miles on it. I did just have to have the Clutch replaced and that cost $900! The check engine light has come on and I just figured it out. I will be making a video about it tomorrow. My X isn't a mechanic, he had to do lots of research when it happened the 1st time at 75,000mi. This video was the 2nd time at 150,000mi. So he knew what he was doing with it.. Plus I didn't show him dropping tools, and all the funny stuff. Lol ☘️

    How much time between this issue and the last one which you had to replace it again.

      Thank you for your question. It was about 75,000 miles between the tune ups. This one was done at 150,000 miles.

      I bought mine brand new with only 8miles on it. I have had to do a full-tune up every 75,000mi. The tune-up in the video was last yr at 150,000mi.

    Great video but a question.. was it stalling out at times or just running bad? Mine after I drive it for 15 minutes feels like it keeps running out of gas. There is no engine light on and .It runs for about 25 seconds then stalls ..If I leave it for a couple hours It runs great for 15 minutes again

    Nope its a sensor. I went through a coil pack every 8 months. Til finally a garage caught it

      @@socalpunk05 it was one of the o2 sensors that....once replaced......I no longer had to replace the coil pack every 6 months. Which more than likely others are treating the symptom and not the true cause......like me.

    Have a question? Do you have to change coil pack everytime tune up is needed?

      I'm sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I have had to change my coil pack every 75,000 Miles. At that time I always just did spark plugs and coil pack at the same time. Plus always checking all fluids any off that may have needed it.

    I love your video I have a 2011 red Chevy aveo Lt we been through hell and back. Ever time my car engine light comes on I immediately fix what ever the problem is. I had the whole Air conditioner system replaced, spark plugs, coil packed done twice today I had my mass air flow sensor deeply cleaned. Passenger door the handle broke I had that replaced. I had tire rods, lower control arm done wheel hubs also my catalyst converter replace oxygen sensors bank 1 and 2 I've done a lot to that car. I brought it with 80,000 now had 137,000 I have a little advice if you are going to change a catalyst converter make sure you buy the correct one because if you buy the incorrect one your engine light will stay on forever to my knowledge some chevy aveo are California compliance for federal emissions.

      Thank you so much for your comment. I bought my car with 8miles on it, after I test drove it brand new in 2011. I paid it off in 2016. So its been almost 6yrs w/o a payment. I've kept up with all maintenance. I recently had to change the clutch that was almost $1000.. I have had to replace door handles inside out. Thank goodness for salvage yards! They are definitely a week point. But my Lil car has been so good to me its worth it. I will be posting a new video soon about my check engine light, coming on and going off. Which is my current issue. I still use this Lil car as my "daily driver". To be honest I love my Lil car and plan to be its only owner.

      I had to replace the coil pack at 75,000 the first time. Knowing I was keeping this car for its life I bought one with a lifetime warranty. So when this went out again when we did the video at 150,000 miles we only had to buy new spark plugs, and trade the old coil pack for the new one. So it's hard to say price.. I paid for the original coil pack so many years ago.
