How I Handle My Giant Defensive Python Alone!
มุมมอง 16K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I love working with Wenny, my 13ft 6in Dwarf Reticulated Python. However, most of the time I have to do it alone. She's not always in a good mood. She was striking at me through the plexi-glass right before I grabbed the camera and started to video. This is how I get her from food mode to explore mode alone.

Tha ks for making this vid. Its so hard to find other people who keep reptiles while full time RVing. I see this vid is 3 years old do you still live in a camper and keep reptiles?
Greetings Great video I was wondering why you didn't check the gaps on the spark plugs as you removed them from the boxes? From my experience, I found out that putting the proper gaps on the spark plugs really improves the performance of the engine. Do you know what's the gap on the spark plugs on that engine ? Thanks
I thought my 6ft snake was big 😅 I still get a little nervous taking her out and she's a corn snake lol I'm less scared of our kingsnakes 😂😅 Winnie is winning every beauty contest for sure though!
@@minxiimayhem6781 Awe thank you! She's got such an amazing personality. I just love her. She has the prettiest eyes. I have a lil corn snake too. They are a lot of fun.
Really miss seeing your videos of you handling your beautiful snake
Love how fake you still are!
She's beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
She's full in-blue and still my gentle giant.
I want her
Beautiful
Right! 😁
Beautiful
Thank you
I would've been stalking all that too.......Glad your safe though😊
Lol.. I'm taking that as a joke! But, thanks for letting me know to avoid you! I don't need another stalker! LMFAO 🤣
300 subs now
Thank you! I'm gearing to start doing lots of fun videos. My life is always changing.
Snakes are not pets! Y’all delusional
With education, they can be pets. I respect your opinion. However, my opinion is different.
Hey there.. i need an enclosure like yours with a solid top..not screen.. where can i get those?
Check out a TH-cam channel by Chris Graham. He did a video called "How to Build Snake Enclosures". It's great and what I used to build Wennies Enclosure. The ball pythons is my design. None have screen tops.
@@payjenreptilesandeducation13 thanks for the quick reply...I don't want to build one... don't think I would be good at that...can they be purchased?
You're posting videos from a year ago? Why not some fresh content? Or did the snake already ate you and someone is just trying to keep this channel alive? You use to be posting all the time and now it's random and old content. Did you find someone to latch onto? Guess so because your not RV living anymore.
Wait. I have so many questions. First i love your giving ur animals more vertical room in those extra large tubs, i use them for my balls. That said, theyre too big for bottom heat only! Ambient temp is primary, belly temp shoupd be secondary! I get racks dont work like that, but cmon, who eants to pit there pet in a drawer. These larger tubs need a che buld or something. Thats ehat i use. Just cut a round hole in the top, tape screen in place now u got ambient heat😊 that said i love seeing bigger rack tubs! Paper towels?😂 Never seen that, but def makes sense. Mine would just go around and bite somewhere else if they really wanted. Wow is she beautiful and ur handling skills are top notch. Imo the personality of the snake is individual to each snake. I have a couple i know want out, to be held and have no fear of me. Most are nervous pervous
First thank you so much for your view and comment. I find my younger snakes love to climb. I try to make sure if I have to have them in my homemade rack. They need space for climbing. I've changed it some now. But when I had it like that.. My balls temps and humidity were right on target. With my big girl. I use paper towels and the small hook every time. It's all about routine with her. 🐍😁
@@payjenreptilesandeducation13 def. Anyone who says snakes are stupid hasn't kept them. Routine is super important! I never grab mine near the heads always move slow, use my hook as a tool to say hey it's me not food🤣 I think these larger tubs between 200qt to 120 gallons can work better then any aquarium. I get they're not pretty, but they hold humidity excellent, not as clear glass to feel as exposed, or glass to hit if they strike and miss. Again though because you're now at 16sq ft with a 120 gallon, it's able to give u that 12-15 degree temp gradient that balls absolutely depends on. That's why one side has a heat mat on thermostat and a che bulb(wattage depends on season). Plenty of room for a water bowl big enough for the largest girls, cool hide warm hide and structure. Def does y have to cost a ton. Substrate is not an area anyone should skimp on. I personally use a three part mix and 3", but I use a lot. People forget that balls will burrow if given the opportunity, just like soaking. I hate that small racks and 16ounce water dishes have become the norm. No temp gradient, no light, nothing. What a life. That's why breeders might get 20 yrs out of a ball and a good keeper can get 40
@@payjenreptilesandeducation13 also you're seeing that ur younger ones are using the structure and climbing more because they can. They're lighter and smaller. Now bigger ones will do the same as long as they have proper size structure for there size and weight. My most active and and "friendly" are the adults rarely the yearlings. Most of what I'm saying is in re to balls not ur retics. I know burms, never had a retic before
She absolutely needs a bigger enclosure!!
I agree.. however, I do get her out on a regular basis to stretch and get exercise.
@@payjenreptilesandeducation13 that’s nice but please do whatever you can to get her a bigger enclosure where she can stretch her entire body without u having to take her out to do so. Imagine if it was you in her place n how unhappy n full of anxiety you would be if you couldn’t stretch out n relax when you wanted to. I’ma huge animal lover. N I treat my animals like family members or my children. So I always make sure they have what they need to be comfortable relaxed n happy. Take care and please get your beautiful snake n larger enclosure!!
@@justdoinit2378 I am a huge animal lover too. I'm also disabled and living off disability only. To build a bigger enclosure would cost more than I make a month. I have been saving. But I also paid $2000. For her mouth surgery she needed. So for me.. her getting the surgery she needed was more important than a bigger enclosure when I take her out to stretch multiple times a week. She is happy and the vet says very healthy. So I am taking very good care of her. But if you'd like to help me raise money for her new enclosure that'd be awesome. Considering I'm still paying off her surgery and follow up care.
Maybe you should only have one pet if your on a fixed income. That way you can have the money you need to properly take care of that animal. Instead of trying to scrounge by with multiple animals. I get it once you have one you want more it’s an addiction but sometimes you gotta reality check yourself and say do I have the means to take care of all these animals. If you can’t afford to get them proper sized enclosures then maybe it’s times to reevaluate and maybe down size some. Not trying to be nasty just trying to be real.
Yes. If you are on a fixed income you really shouldn’t keep pets that you can’t afford to keep in a big enough space. I’m sure your intentions are good but it isn’t right.
She looks like a Jampea/Kalatoea mix. I have one and they are the most interesting snakes I’ve ever had. Retics are so different from any other snake
Thank you for the view! That's awesome! Well I didn't bred her so I don't know forsure. But when I got her they said Jampea. Is your snake a male or female? How big and old?
I'd love to see a picture! 🐍
Female. As far as age not 100% sure as I got her at an expo but from my experience I’d say about 2 years old. 4 1/2 in length. In the year I’ve had her she’s grown at least 2ft. She’s not as wirery as yours but she will mess you up if you spook her
What a beautiful snake!
Thank you. I just love her
That's a dwarf retic?
Yes! She is a Full grown Jampea Dwarf Reticulated Python. Retics from the smaller islands like Jampea stay much smaller than the mainland retics.
ANOTHER WHITE WOMAN KILLED BY HER LOVING SNAKE. SH IS SPECIAL AND WINNI IS NOT GOING TO KILL HER. SHE HAS A DEATH WISH.
It's ok, you don't get it. But, here I am still breathing and continuing to hold her and work with her on a regular.. it's all about understanding them and their body language. Plus routine. I know you don't understand. Regardless I love her and all my animals.
Beautiful retic. I have 3 12 foot retics myself.wonderful creatures.
Invite the ex over & feed him to snake🐍
Lol I'd love too! He is the only person she's ever bit and wrapped not just once but twice! However she was not even 9ft and maybe 10lbs.. it'd be much different now! Unfortunately, the ex has continued to stalk me.
so friendly)
I love Wennie. Natural python not a morph.
I appreciate your comment. She is in fact a morph though. She is a Dwarf Reticulated Python, she's a Jampea. She is also the only morph that occurs naturally in the wild for Dwarfs called Anery. That's why she has those amazing silver eyes instead of orange. Anery means she lacks all red pigment. Leaving her with no red or orange in her pattern including her eyes. 😁🐍
That's a good size retic but healthy looking and not overweight. A nice slender 12 foot retic that will potentially get 20 ft but really cool.
1st of all, thank you so much for your comment and for watching my video. Wennie is a Dwarf. She's Jampea Anery. She is currently 50lbs and is about 13-14ft. She is currently 6 1/2yrs old and is full grown. She goes to the vet often, so I have really good records for her.
snake randomly jumps on me. is that normal? silly answers only
Wrong place wrong time! Or it just really wants to know you better! 😂🤣😂🤣
snake: I'm in control of hooman. "Hooman": I'm in control of snake.
I'm never in control of Wennie! She does what she wants and I enjoy the ride!
5:34 Owner: say hi to everyone! Snake: NOPE
Lol.. so true!
This was the best comment. Lol
I love snakes, and have subscribed. Love Winnie, beautiful snake companion. I am a snake keeper as well.
That's awesome! Love having fellow keepers. What kinds of snakes do you have? Thanks for subscribing!
@@payjenreptilesandeducation13 Blood and Sumatran Pythons, Burmese Python, Ball Pythons, Boas, baby King Snake, Baby Bull Snake, Children's Python. I love all snakes!
One more thing, entertaining would be a snake person doing the “chicken “ with their pet getting ready to consume them
I think you have my channel mixed up with other channels. I like to show how amazing reptiles can be when handled properly.
@@payjenreptilesandeducation13 Don’t aim to offend, snakes, lizards, turtles cold blooded. If you have warm blooded pets try not feeding a large reptile and say good bye to your poodle, bunny rabbit, mice or other furry friends. Just saying some of those large reptiles would make a handsome pair of boots.
Come on! Not a big fan of cold blooded pets but if you are at least treat them humanely
I guess I'm confused by your comment. Obviously I treat her humanely. Otherwise she wouldn't have her amazing and sweet personality.
She really does love the spotlight.. she is so sweet!
Thank you for always helping me with her!
So pretty! Love when you post
Thank you so much for your positive comments! I really appreciate them!
Great video! That snake is gorgeous❤
Thank you so much. I just love her!
You're so fake, lying to people. Don't worry I'll be taking the camper off your hands very soon.
Awe, this must be Patrick Voisey my stalker leave me and what's mine alone. I don't need threats from a horrible person. I don't need sex a offender from Jackson County Mo, on this channel spreading hate. Please leave me and my page alone.
you dint have your snakes back then ???
No snakes yet. I was still terrified of them back in this video. But this is this is the camper I starting owning snakes in, when I hit the road full-time in 2020. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hi there...as I was looking for a video about Chevy Aveo I found your video called (( 2011 Chevy Aveo tune up )) just by curiousity...I already know how to do so because I'm a mechanic but as I said...just by curiousity...then I see the name of your yt channel...(( RV living with repillllllles )) 😀 I was like ...noooo wayyyyyy they like reptiles as well )) so I add to go check. I'm a big snake keeper my self...I have a big boa constructor imperator and I add 😢a ball phyton but it died about 2 months ago...but anyway... guess what...I'm subscribing to your channel 😉 thank you.
Thank you so much for your. View and sub! I truly appreciate it! I still own and love Wennie and am trying to find time to get more videos about her out. I'm also breeding ball pythons and currently now hatching them. Plus, I have a baby Suriname ret-tail boa, and 2 corn snakes, now. I came off the road last year so I could expand my collection and start educating people about them. Plus, I wanted to build Wennie a much bigger, and cooler enclosure. My red-tail will eventually be in Wennie's old enclosure, once she's bigger.
Nice!!! Hello Winnie!!!!!
That viv is far too small for a 13+feet snake. She handles the snake very well though.
Thank you for watching and commenting. I agree the viv is to small for her. I am currently planning and preparing to build her out a much bigger enclosure. In the meantime please understand she is a Dwarf, Jampea, and I was told she wouldn't get more than 12ft. I was also living in my camper, when I built the enclosure and built it to fit my slide. I let her out daily in the camper and took her outside when weather allowed. Now, I still take her outside when weather allows and I get her out at my home and let her stretch when I see she wants to which is on a regular. I will do a video once I get the new enclosure built. I'm currently still paying off a surgery she had to have. Next is a bigger much more amazing enclosure. Thank you for your compliment about me handling her well. I do love working with her. Now that she's full-grown, and I have more space, I am looking forward to giving her a enclosure unlike anything I've ever seen anyone else do. I'm so excited. I have lots planned for her new home! Stay tuned my next video is about her surgery. Then I will do one of her new much bigger and so much better home. 😁🐍
@@payjenreptilesandeducation13 Yeah theres no certain way to predict a dwarf or super dwarfs adult size and there are many unscrupulous people out there that will lie to get a sale. The best way is to get a look at the parents and while that usually gives a good idea of the potential a dwarf or sd retic could grow to there’s no real guarantee what size the offspring will achieve. Where you able to get a look at your jamps parents?
@@BeneathTheGold I saw pics. But, not them. To be honest when I got her, I decided then, that no matter what size she grew to, I'd give her the best home I can. She's now 6yrs old and 14ft and 50lbs. Still very sweet. I'm looking forward to building her next enclosure soon. I do also have ball python eggs in my incubator! 😁🐍
New subscriber here…….also new to the reptile community. I have a question……what do you do if Winnie wraps you too tight? How do you get her off of you being alone and all?
She says she never lets it squeeze too tight and doesn’t let it wrap her up. The rule usually is you don’t handle large snakes when you are alone. That is the point of the video… how she handles it alone safely.
@@BeneathTheGold I would be scared to death to handle a large snake by myself. She’s brave!
I appreciate you subscribing and watching my video. The thing with Wennie is.. She has always had a very sweet and pleasant disposition. I have had her since she was 3yrs old, 8ft long and only 8lbs. So, we have grown together over the past 3yrs. I work with her all the time. I have routines in place to show her if it's food time or explore time. I always give her my full attention when she's out. If I'm holding her and she tries to get tight around my neck, I put my arm between her and my neck and don't allow it. As for her squeezing me.. she only holds on as tight as she needs to stay on me and not fall off. I'm not a rat, don't smell like it, so she knows I'm Mom not food. That being said, she's a large now 14ft, 50lbs Retic. I give her respect and stay with my routine. It's all about staying aware. I'm gentle with her and she knows I'm safe. When she's out. I let her stretch and roam. I stay close. When she's done she crawls up on me and just hangs out with me. Each snake is different. I know mine all have different personalities. I know her and I never forget she is a Retic. So I always pay attention to her and her body language.
@@payjenreptilesandeducation13 thanks for responding. I am REALLY new to reptiles and I’m absolutely fascinated with snakes and I wanna own one one day so I’m trying to learn as much as I possibly can about them before I get one😉.
@@assistanttotheregionalmana349 I totally understand. I spent the 1st 40yrs of my life scared to death of them.. yet fascinated at the same time. My 1st snake was a ball python.. once I understood the body language.. I fell in-love! Lol so I totally get it.
I'm new I have just started watching and learning so far everyone says they tolerate you but don't enjoy you or even know you. That the would rather be not handled or roaming around. So much different views on one subject
I agree I've heard the different views. But, I believe she enjoys hanging out with me. 😁
@@payjenreptilesandeducation13 that is all that matters 🥰
A snake only sees you as food. They have no feelings of love toward anything or anybody. Keeping such a large snake like that by yourself is just asking for trouble.
Thank you for keeping her updated : ) Happy birthday to her. How old is she now and is she reaching 15 ft?
She is 6yrs old now. 14ft and 50lbs! She is officially full grown. She is still the sweetest snake. Even when I had to take her to the vet and take her off food for 4mths.. still so sweet. I just love her!
cute lol
Brave lady and Great Snake 🐍
My boas always act that this 24/7 might not be anything you did I’m in their enclosures every day unless I go out for a few days. Just excessive feeding responses.
I know how you feel gen-i some big snakes in my life to my first one was a 13 14 foot Burmese python 80 lb name Cena and my other big one I had back in the 90s what's a 17 ft reticulated python name Jennifer so I know it's like to handle these big snakes
You should give the snake that whole room not a shity viv
She roams around all the time with me.. She is good. Thank you for your comment.
You can't domesticate no snake ,white people think they think for any animal, she'll be found strangled to death.
White people love snakes, because white people have the nature of a snake.
