DP Brigz not anymore, Woody gave up being a toy to stay with Bo Peep because Bonnie didn’t care about him anymore, sure she still plays with Hamm which is a damn Piggy Bank, the Potato Heads, Slinky Dog, Buzz & even Jessie & Bullseye, for no reason at all, she doesn’t care about him at all, doesn’t even notice he’s there or care when he disappears.
My thoughts also. I thought Bonnie liked woody. I guess they have to shift the narrative to try and bring an end to the series... or is it the end.....

Woody seemed cool to her at first because he was the only cowboy toy, but as a little girl I would expect her to prefer Jessie being that she’s a feminine version of what she liked. I don’t really see a plot hole at all.

@@YesToCookies23 we never saw the aftermath of Woody actually being lost to her. That's like saying she should cry if her closet toys aren't in the closet. She probably wouldn't notice they're gone. How would she know unless she is actively looking for them. Plus it's a plot device, they never wanted us to feel bad for Bonnie losing Woody because he was always going to leave with Bo

@@blitzus5022 Well she even "forgot" him when he was in her face by taking his badge and putting it on Jessie, and then preferring a spork over him. So I wouldn't say she forgot him, but lost interest in him altogether and stopped playing with him altogether. Although, she did play with him in the beginning of the film after that incident.
When I saw that scene in the theater while buzz & Bo tried to rescue Woody & Forky and Gabby Gabby's goons ALMOST tear off Woody's voice box I was thinking "holy S*it!!"
Toy Story 5: Andy goes to Bonnie's house to reclaim Woody. Bonnie says she lost him, and doesn't really care about him. Andy then slaps her silly across the room. The end.
Yeah, he would probably start to cry and tell Bonnie the story of how his father gave Woody to him, and it would be like a prequel to the first Toy Story.
But they explain why she wanted it. Hers was broken and his wasn’t. She wanted it so that she could get a bond with the girl. Hardly anyone wants to play with broken toys
Yeah, and woody not having a voice box doesnt exactly make him broken. But nobody really wanted to play with him then. i guess parts of it feel kinda *wrong* because well, most of the other toy stories are about how toys are meant to be playthings for kids, but hey i guess Woodie has a new purpose.
Ok so the previous comment I wrote made an argument and some people think I'm mad and hating on Bonnie but that's not true. What I meant to write was my opinion I was kinda like sad when forky and woody would get lost each time and Bonnie would only worry about forky. When they "found" woody and forkie, Bonnie would ignore woody as if she didn't notice woody was gone and just focus on forkie.
Red I agree because Andy was so reluctant on giving Bonnie Woody in the first place. She could see the value of sentiment to Andy. And I know she is like 4 or 5, but kids still know what’s inconsiderate or ungrateful is at that age. Maybe it is my childhood that I am trying to hold tightly or my stubborn nature but even I feel offended. But what does my voice say,,, Andy did give Woody up and Woody is no longer Andy’s possession which allowed the new owner to choose what she wanted to with him
That just how things are sometimes. you get a toy, and some people just dont have the same connection as others. Just like people really. Sometimes you want to be friends with someone, but in the end its just not meant to be.
As much as everyone, including Woody, wants for other people to cherish what we care for, it won't always be that way. It's a good reflection on life, too. Other people won't always care for what you care for in the same way. You can't rely on other people to cherish what you once did, you have to be independent. That's what Woody did at the end of the movie; he couldn't repeat what he had with Andy, so he had to truly move on. He might've said good bye to Andy at the end of the 3rd, but he never really let go. Bonnie was supposed to be another Andy, but that just wasn't the case.
I really hope that some how some way woody ends up back with Andy. Like I'm so upset bonnie wasn't feeling him anymore. Woody should've gone to college with Andy
Woody wasn't made to not be played with by a child. He is a TOY not a figure to put on the shelf. How did no one get the reason Woody left with bopeep?
Can we talk about how Andy made bonnie promise to take care of Woody and then she just doesn't even blink when he literally goes missing out of nowhere??? Andy was ready to take woody to college, which I know isn't an ideal life, but he cared that much about him and to watch Bonnie just cast him aside like nothing is really heartbreaking. Imagine Andy dropping by for old times sake and finding out oh, that really super important sentimental toy that was your whole childhood? Lost him. My heart was so heavy for Woody throughout the entire film. He cared SO much about her, worried about her, did so much for her, and in the end it really didn't even matter. This toy really went above and beyond only to be cast so far aside that he rather be without a kid and honestly, good for him.
Ik, right?! Woody is not only caring, but very loyal. He doesn't care much about being played with, but cares if his owner is happy. If not, he would take the MANY miles of life to make that person feel special. I actually look up to him when it comes to learning how to be a TRUE friend.
Exactly to both of these comments. And I feel like so many people are hating on the ending because they thought it went totally against woodys character, when really he didn’t mind not being played with and he did anything to make sure Bonnie was happy, but once he got forky, there was nothing left for woody since Bonnie didn’t need him anymore, so he left so woody can still fulfill his purpose of making children happy by helping carnival toys get kids. Making kids happy was always the most important thing to Woody. I really admire woodys character and his character development since the 1st to the 4th
I think Woody's voice box represented that inner voice, that was not quite his own, but voice of his duty / habit. The thing that told him what to do. He finally gave up that phonograph - found his true self, his very real inner voice, what HE actually wanted now, not just had to do. I thought that symbolism was just amazing!
I think there are some loose threads that need to be resolved 1. Andy finding out Bonnie didn’t keep a close eye on Woody 2. Woody and Bos adventures 3. How the other toys are managing post Woody 4. Older Bonnies character development
Those things you mentioned are the least that need to be addressed: Mrs Davis being the owner of Jessie would be interesting, seeing how Andy got Woody in the first place, and the final time Andy stopped playing with Woody. The whole purpose of Toy Story revolves around their journey with Andy, so it would be good to address these details rather than having TS4 start, focusing on just Bo.
1. Andy finding out would likely just be a phone call thing. Unless you mean you want to see a movie about Andy being depressed. 2. Would be cool 3. I could see this as a short, but the problem is it'll either be too sad or too happy. Would it be successful as a movie with just the toys without Woody? Idk, maybe 2 and 3 would be together somehow? 4. It's too similar to TS 1-3.
Bo’s dress didn’t change colors. What she’s wearing TS4 are the undergarments she wore under her old pink dress. Her new cape is actually the skirt of her old outfit. At the end of the movie, you can see Bo wearing on her waist like she did in the past.
I agree, it was manipulative and yet was never addressed. In the end she got what she wanted but at what cost? Do the ends justify the means? What is the lesson?

Benjamin Ortiz Pixar tried hard, but I didn’t see her as manipulative for some strange reason. I mean, from the trailers, I knew she was going to be the villain, but when it came to the actual movie, I just wasn’t feeling a villain vibe. She’s set up as far too relatable to be a villain.
The logic behind can the toys feel pain is stupid logic. Sid burnt a hole in Woody's forehead and he felt pain but he gets stepped on and he didn't feel anything really.
I'll make public here... I'd like to know what Stephen was thinking when he looked from Maleficent to a happy Aurora during the scene where Maleficent got her wings back. A theory on that would be great.
I'm disappointed that woody don't have the voice box anymore because woody is a rare toy and now he is complete tilt anymore the voice box can also help woody in some situations
Honestly considering that he was stolen twice due to his rarity, and unlike the sheriff he doesn’t want to be a collector item, him losing his voice box probably does him a big favor
What pisses me off is that Bonnie out of nowhere just disrespects the promise she made to Andy to take good care of Woody. After the movie ends, during the credits, Bonnie was revealed to have made another toy from a utensil, this time out of a knife, and dialogue from Jessie confirms that it was her first day in 1st grade. This means it has already been 2-3 years since Andy went off to college. If Andy decides to move back into the town and visit Bonnie some time, and then sees that Woody is gone, that'll be something nobody wants to miss.
The way I see it, he was in a foreign place that was never introduced to him before - a place of free will where toys actually MADE their own choices. He was used to leading toys that all had the same duty that he had. We all have a common goal, i will get us there. But here he was leading with the intention that toys should never become lost, whereas Bo was leading him and teaching him that toys can find their own ways to be happy and play with kids that isn’t so committed. He was leading the way he knew best, but in a situation where it didn’t work. So he followed Bo, someone who knew where she was going and how, as well as what she wanted, and taught him how to accept the change. So I don’t think he was dumb and useless as @khaki_Miyazaki put it, more so learning what he really wanted and in the process taking a back seat to take everything in.
@@vee6327 I like the way you explained but I still say the same thing on that scene in toy story 4 on RV when all of Bonnies' toys ask buzz what to do and he just jumped out of the window without a plan or backup where in toy story 2 when woody also went missing and buzz had a plan and he took other toys with him.
Beautiful vid Isaac! I agree Woody’s voice box represents his inner voice and also his connection to children. SPOILER WARNING: When Woody let go of his inner voice, I believe he was discarding a part of himself he no longer needed as he had already found his true inner voice within himself. I appreciated the contrast of Buzz’s struggle to find his own voice as he realized he was going to have to lead and make decisions without Woody- at first listening to his pre-programmed voice for guidance, but in the end I think he began to hear his true inner voice as he encourage Woody to join Bow. The scene of their parting made me cry more than any other toy story and is one of the most emotional moments in all Disney movies. I hope they are reunited again one day!
Honestly, Buzz's subplot of doubting himself as a leader makes no sense since past Toy Story films made it clear that he is a good leader even without Woody.
Toy story 5: woody and bo travel throughout the world and meet lost friends along the way. They stumble along the campus that sid lives on, and are caught by him trying to get out. Sid and Andy have formed a friendship since toy story 1, so they meet up and sid brings woody, bo, and the other toys they found. The toys liveliness is exposed as sid retell the story of how the toys got their revenge to Andy. Woody breaks character and reaches out for Andy’s hand. Soon after realizing his toys are alive, he goes searching for the whole crew. It is a long and heartfelt journey, leaving the movie with lots of tears and hugging on the toys and Andy’s end. Idk. Just an idea.
I didnt feel like the ending was satisfying. It was just a set up for another toy story.😕 Also Bonnie had the same bond with Woody as Andy did...why did that change? Also Andy would be very heartbroken if he found out that Woody was gone.
Kids tend to be excited seeing new toys. For example, when I first got my toys, I played with them all the time. But got bored a few weeks or years later. Besides people have different taste.
You were spot on with the Woody's voice box. Although Buzz using his buttons for his inner voice dumbed him down in my opinion. In the other movies he didn't need them and was able to make decisions just fine but I guess thats just me being picky lol. It also seemed like they pushed Woody and Buzz to the back in terms of leadership roles. Like for Ex: BoPeep seemed to be the leader even though it was still focused on Woody and Buzz as well got demoted in the room. Dolly was leader and even Bonnie took off Woody's badge and gave it to Jessie =3=" and Bonnie ugh do not get me started on her character. I understand she was loosing intrest in Woody but she was just awful in this movie I did not like her and I liked her in TS3. I mean she promised Andy to care for Woody..... Over all though I enjoyed the movie but I do not think it is my favorite at least not right now maybe I should wait a long time and then compare them all together when this comes out on dvd and marathon them.
Plottwist: Woody stays at the antique shop and takes control of it with the other dolls and awaits for another Woody to rip his voice box and meet back with Andy
@WotsoVideos I was shocked when I saw Woody give up his voice box. And seeing him choose to live the life of a free toy, was just jaw dropping. I couldn't believe it when I saw it in theaters two days ago. I've grown up with Toy Story, and seeing that happen. That was hard to go through.
Woody's voice box seem to represent a connection to his conscious. Before Gabby got Woody's voice box she had a disconnection with that voice inside her, her record. After Gabby got Woody's voice box she seem to hear or feel that connection clearer.
I still have my original Woody from when I was a kid. He's got some grass stains, missing paint spots, crayon marks and is missing the holster. His voicebox died years ago. Still, I don't think I'll ever get rid of him.
Woody gave up his voice box and pull string to Gabby Gabby in exchange for Forky and gave his sheriff badge to Jessie but at least he still kept his cowboy hat.
I was soo shook up the rest of the movie just thinking that woody gave Gabby his voice box to gabby, I wish woody would have just told gabby that Bonnie would like her with or without a voice
Gabby Gabby is soo adorable She's not exactly a villain. An antagonist, yes. But she's not horrible like other antagonist like Lotso, Al's, or Sid (nobody mentioned she's bad toys, unlike the others antagonist).
Interesting theory. What I was curious about was if Woody admitted he was made in the 50's and was a collectable as proven in the second movie... Was Andy his first kid? Did he have any memories prior to Andy? Assuming Andy did have Woody in the 90's where was Woody in the 40 years in between?
Probably the guy in Toy Story who voiced Woody would’ve long passed away by the time of Toy story 4 as Woody’s roundup was made in the 50’s and Toy Story 4 2010’s or at least would be really old.
Okay but I want to go back on how andy said in toy story 3 he’d come back to either play with her or check up on her. A man and his childhood bro cmon I want to see his reaction to woodie being disregarded and lost.
I hated that he let Gabby Gabby have his voice box but I understood that it signified him being done with children he no longer wanted to rely on children only to be abandoned again and again. Still sucks though that pull string was pretty much his lasso.
Honestly I felt that this movie kind of made the emotional ending of 3 feel meaningless. Woody was Andy's favorite toy and gave him up in the hopes that Bonnie would take care of him. Also Woody deciding between moving on and joining Bonnie or stay with Andy as he goes to college was a huge part of Woody's character, as up until then his main goal was always finding a way to get back to Andy. Now in 4, he is neglected by Bonnie and even decides to abandon her toward the end of the movie, something he never would have done with Andy. Can you imagine if Andy came home from college and saw Bonnie with no Woody, then her telling him she lost him. I like that Woody decided to stay and help other toys find homes, but he probably could have done that at the daycare as well by finding the right toy for the right child.
I think gabby gabby should have learned a lesson, you see how harmony still didn’t want her even with a voice box? Right there she should have returned it to woody and realized that taking things from others is wrong. She forced woody to give it to her and surrounded him.
I really enjoyed the existential nature of this Toy Story. I also felt it was an allusion to sacrifice, growing up, changes. It really had a lot of metaphors that relate to parenting and even though I have never had a child I can understand what the creators were wanting to express.
This movie was really good with its theming and foreshadowing. Throughout the movie we keep seeing kids neglecting or rejecting their toys (Woody, Bo Peep, Gabby Gabby, the motorcycle guy,etc) Most of these toys are obsessed with being relevant to their desired kid (Woody protecting Sporky because he’s the current favorite toy, Gabby hoping a new voice box would help her become Harmony’s toy, the motorcycle guy hung up on his long-gone kid) Then throughout the movie each of these toys realize that while their desired kid might not want them, there are others they can help more, whether it’s a kid or other toys. They get past living for what they can’t have and start focusing on new goals and futures. While I don’t know if this is my favorite Toy Story movie, I still really like it and think it’s a great addition to the series.
I love how Bo wasnt a stronk indepenant wahmen, who dont need no man. but instead, a strong woman who does need a man, just as much as that man needs her.

I think it’s funny how Gaby Gaby cared so much about the voice box and believed that’s all that could make a child love her, but when I was a kid I DESPISED talking toys. Even with toys that could talk, I never touched their buttons or I turned them off because I hated the noises so much.
Great video, but to save you all 10 minutes, Woody gives up his box because he's no longer needed. He's done. His string is for kids to pull, but kids have outgrown him, and, therefore, no one will be pulling his string anymore. He figured Gabby Gabby needed it more as she still has a fighting chance to be loved by kids. Woody retires and lives out his life as a free ownerless toy. The end.
I think there will be another film ... Call me crazy but they said 3 was going to be the last one and also they introduce another new character during the end credits ...
What happens if you get the voicebox: Voicebox theft You win! Woody can just stay to rot in the trashcan from now on, while you can be loved by a kid! What happens if you get sold to a collector: Voicebox theft You lose, you were sold to a collector and Woody still has his voicebox. Guess that that stupid cowboy has no snake in his boot.
awesome video as always I do believe his voice box represented his desire to be a toy for a child but as soon as he gave it up, he decided he has fullfilled his purpose and it looking for a new adventure
Woody's voice box represents the bonds of kindness, honesty, generosity, loyalty, imagination but most of all love. Woody giving up his voice box shows how far he has come and grown throughout the years thus the reason why he chooses the life of a lost toy not only to be with the love of his life Bo Peep but also providing a fulfilling life by helping and guiding other lost toys to they're forever home.
The writing for Bonnie forgetting Woody is extremely lazy and doesn’t fit with the story of the third film. That’s just something I really disliked about the film, not saying I dislike the film as a whole just that large aspect of it, which ends up driving the story
Woody knows his time is up... he gonna follow his heart and become a free toy. He gave away his voice box because he felt Gabby Gabby would need it more than him... she was defective out of the box and never felt whole in her life... He also gave away his sheriff badge to Jess as he knows she will do a better job than him... freedom is all he wants from now on... the end.
I watched it the day it came out and loved the whole thing and the thought that his voice box was taken our disturbed me! Like it was almost like he was giving up his life to help another. Like he was trying to start another life by almost leaving completely by it as a lost toy to have bo!! Which was cleverly terrifying!! ♡♡♡
SPOILERS That still doesn't make sense to me though. Tom Hanks even said it himself.....Woody's strongest character trait IS HIS LOYALTY. He was devoted to Andy.....ever since Andy was a very young child and was gifted Woody (along with Slinky and I think Rex?) by his Dad when his Dad died, Woody's purpose has always been to take care of Andy. His devotion was challenged three times.....once when Buzz came, then in the second movie when he found Jessie and the Prospector and they tried to convince Woody to come with them and be loved and admired by children forever.....then in the third movie when Andy was all grown up and the toys went to the daycare. All the other toys thought they liked it there and they would bring happiness to new children....but again, Woody's devotion was to Andy. No matter what, he was there for Andy.....until Andy went off to college and he realized Andy would always love him, but his journey with Andy was done. Then he went with the other toys to Bonnie. But then, Bonnie is still a child. Its true, Woody is not her favorite toy and he's spending more time in the closet than with her, but he's clearly still devoted to her. So WHY is he suddenly so willing to give Gabby his voice? Why her? And why does Woody still have his voice even after he gives his to Gabby. And then it almost turned out to be pointless, because even WITH the pretty new voice, the little girl didn't want Gabby. In then, in the end, he just walks away from Bonnie and chooses Bo Peep.....and I do see your logic that because he gave up his voice it severed his bond with children but WHY then does he say goodbye to Bo and go to join the others? He only really returns to Bo when Buzz tells him Bonnie will be OK.
ngl, the ending got me messed up. yeah, we're all guilty of losing toys, but bonnie had a responsibility to keep woody and buzz together when andy went off to college. but I'm also happy about it. it made me cry, and if you cry during a movie, that's how you know the story's good. total amount of crying was three. (and gabby saying goodbye to forky was so sweet!! "goodbye my little utensil" aaa)

Ok so the previous comment I wrote made an argument and some people think I'm mad and hating on Bonnie but that's not true. What I meant to write was my opinion I was kinda like sad when forky and woody would get lost each time and Bonnie would only worry about forky. When they "found" woody and forkie, Bonnie would ignore woody as if she didn't notice woody was gone and just focus on forkie.

That just how things are sometimes. you get a toy, and some people just dont have the same connection as others. Just like people really. Sometimes you want to be friends with someone, but in the end its just not meant to be.

As much as everyone, including Woody, wants for other people to cherish what we care for, it won't always be that way. It's a good reflection on life, too. Other people won't always care for what you care for in the same way. You can't rely on other people to cherish what you once did, you have to be independent. That's what Woody did at the end of the movie; he couldn't repeat what he had with Andy, so he had to truly move on. He might've said good bye to Andy at the end of the 3rd, but he never really let go. Bonnie was supposed to be another Andy, but that just wasn't the case.
I really hope that some how some way woody ends up back with Andy. Like I'm so upset bonnie wasn't feeling him anymore. Woody should've gone to college with Andy

Can we talk about how Andy made bonnie promise to take care of Woody and then she just doesn't even blink when he literally goes missing out of nowhere??? Andy was ready to take woody to college, which I know isn't an ideal life, but he cared that much about him and to watch Bonnie just cast him aside like nothing is really heartbreaking. Imagine Andy dropping by for old times sake and finding out oh, that really super important sentimental toy that was your whole childhood? Lost him. My heart was so heavy for Woody throughout the entire film. He cared SO much about her, worried about her, did so much for her, and in the end it really didn't even matter. This toy really went above and beyond only to be cast so far aside that he rather be without a kid and honestly, good for him.

I think Woody's voice box represented that inner voice, that was not quite his own, but voice of his duty / habit. The thing that told him what to do. He finally gave up that phonograph - found his true self, his very real inner voice, what HE actually wanted now, not just had to do. I thought that symbolism was just amazing!

I don't see a Toy Story 5 movie but a TV series down the road.
Those things you mentioned are the least that need to be addressed: Mrs Davis being the owner of Jessie would be interesting, seeing how Andy got Woody in the first place, and the final time Andy stopped playing with Woody. The whole purpose of Toy Story revolves around their journey with Andy, so it would be good to address these details rather than having TS4 start, focusing on just Bo.

What pisses me off is that Bonnie out of nowhere just disrespects the promise she made to Andy to take good care of Woody. After the movie ends, during the credits, Bonnie was revealed to have made another toy from a utensil, this time out of a knife, and dialogue from Jessie confirms that it was her first day in 1st grade. This means it has already been 2-3 years since Andy went off to college. If Andy decides to move back into the town and visit Bonnie some time, and then sees that Woody is gone, that'll be something nobody wants to miss.

The way I see it, he was in a foreign place that was never introduced to him before - a place of free will where toys actually MADE their own choices. He was used to leading toys that all had the same duty that he had. We all have a common goal, i will get us there. But here he was leading with the intention that toys should never become lost, whereas Bo was leading him and teaching him that toys can find their own ways to be happy and play with kids that isn’t so committed. He was leading the way he knew best, but in a situation where it didn’t work. So he followed Bo, someone who knew where she was going and how, as well as what she wanted, and taught him how to accept the change. So I don’t think he was dumb and useless as @khaki_Miyazaki put it, more so learning what he really wanted and in the process taking a back seat to take everything in.

When Woody let go of his inner voice, I believe he was discarding a part of himself he no longer needed as he had already found his true inner voice within himself. I appreciated the contrast of Buzz’s struggle to find his own voice as he realized he was going to have to lead and make decisions without Woody- at first listening to his pre-programmed voice for guidance, but in the end I think he began to hear his true inner voice as he encourage Woody to join Bow. The scene of their parting made me cry more than any other toy story and is one of the most emotional moments in all Disney movies. I hope they are reunited again one day!
Honestly, Buzz's subplot of doubting himself as a leader makes no sense since past Toy Story films made it clear that he is a good leader even without Woody.

The toys liveliness is exposed as sid retell the story of how the toys got their revenge to Andy. Woody breaks character and reaches out for Andy’s hand. Soon after realizing his toys are alive, he goes searching for the whole crew. It is a long and heartfelt journey, leaving the movie with lots of tears and hugging on the toys and Andy’s end.

I didnt feel like the ending was satisfying. It was just a set up for another toy story.😕 Also Bonnie had the same bond with Woody as Andy did...why did that change? Also Andy would be very heartbroken if he found out that Woody was gone.
Kids tend to be excited seeing new toys. For example, when I first got my toys, I played with them all the time. But got bored a few weeks or years later. Besides people have different taste.
You were spot on with the Woody's voice box. Although Buzz using his buttons for his inner voice dumbed him down in my opinion. In the other movies he didn't need them and was able to make decisions just fine but I guess thats just me being picky lol. It also seemed like they pushed Woody and Buzz to the back in terms of leadership roles. Like for Ex: BoPeep seemed to be the leader even though it was still focused on Woody and Buzz as well got demoted in the room. Dolly was leader and even Bonnie took off Woody's badge and gave it to Jessie =3=" and Bonnie ugh do not get me started on her character. I understand she was loosing intrest in Woody but she was just awful in this movie I did not like her and I liked her in TS3. I mean she promised Andy to care for Woody..... Over all though I enjoyed the movie but I do not think it is my favorite at least not right now maybe I should wait a long time and then compare them all together when this comes out on dvd and marathon them.

@WotsoVideos I was shocked when I saw Woody give up his voice box. And seeing him choose to live the life of a free toy, was just jaw dropping. I couldn't believe it when I saw it in theaters two days ago. I've grown up with Toy Story, and seeing that happen. That was hard to go through.

Woody's voice box seem to represent a connection to his conscious. Before Gabby got Woody's voice box she had a disconnection with that voice inside her, her record. After Gabby got Woody's voice box she seem to hear or feel that connection clearer.
I still have my original Woody from when I was a kid. He's got some grass stains, missing paint spots, crayon marks and is missing the holster. His voicebox died years ago. Still, I don't think I'll ever get rid of him.

Honestly I felt that this movie kind of made the emotional ending of 3 feel meaningless. Woody was Andy's favorite toy and gave him up in the hopes that Bonnie would take care of him. Also Woody deciding between moving on and joining Bonnie or stay with Andy as he goes to college was a huge part of Woody's character, as up until then his main goal was always finding a way to get back to Andy. Now in 4, he is neglected by Bonnie and even decides to abandon her toward the end of the movie, something he never would have done with Andy. Can you imagine if Andy came home from college and saw Bonnie with no Woody, then her telling him she lost him. I like that Woody decided to stay and help other toys find homes, but he probably could have done that at the daycare as well by finding the right toy for the right child.
What makes you think he didn't? You can't confine your life around just one purpose.

I really enjoyed the existential nature of this Toy Story. I also felt it was an allusion to sacrifice, growing up, changes. It really had a lot of metaphors that relate to parenting and even though I have never had a child I can understand what the creators were wanting to express.
Woody thought his purpose was to be there for Bonnie but he always knew that Bo Peep as his saving grace. Now he has a more meaningful purpose.
This movie was really good with its theming and foreshadowing.
Throughout the movie we keep seeing kids neglecting or rejecting their toys (Woody, Bo Peep, Gabby Gabby, the motorcycle guy,etc) Most of these toys are obsessed with being relevant to their desired kid (Woody protecting Sporky because he’s the current favorite toy, Gabby hoping a new voice box would help her become Harmony’s toy, the motorcycle guy hung up on his long-gone kid)
Then throughout the movie each of these toys realize that while their desired kid might not want them, there are others they can help more, whether it’s a kid or other toys. They get past living for what they can’t have and start focusing on new goals and futures.
While I don’t know if this is my favorite Toy Story movie, I still really like it and think it’s a great addition to the series.
I love how Bo wasnt a stronk indepenant wahmen, who dont need no man. but instead, a strong woman who does need a man, just as much as that man needs her.

I think it’s funny how Gaby Gaby cared so much about the voice box and believed that’s all that could make a child love her, but when I was a kid I DESPISED talking toys. Even with toys that could talk, I never touched their buttons or I turned them off because I hated the noises so much.
Great video, but to save you all 10 minutes, Woody gives up his box because he's no longer needed. He's done. His string is for kids to pull, but kids have outgrown him, and, therefore, no one will be pulling his string anymore. He figured Gabby Gabby needed it more as she still has a fighting chance to be loved by kids. Woody retires and lives out his life as a free ownerless toy. The end.

Gabby Gabby could have easily been bought by a collector. I know a lot of Chatty Cathy collectors who fix broken and deffective voice boxes.

awesome video as always I do believe his voice box represented his desire to be a toy for a child but as soon as he gave it up, he decided he has fullfilled his purpose and it looking for a new adventure
Woody's voice box represents the bonds of kindness, honesty, generosity, loyalty, imagination but most of all love. Woody giving up his voice box shows how far he has come and grown throughout the years thus the reason why he chooses the life of a lost toy not only to be with the love of his life Bo Peep but also providing a fulfilling life by helping and guiding other lost toys to they're forever home.

The writing for Bonnie forgetting Woody is extremely lazy and doesn’t fit with the story of the third film. That’s just something I really disliked about the film, not saying I dislike the film as a whole just that large aspect of it, which ends up driving the story
Woody knows his time is up... he gonna follow his heart and become a free toy. He gave away his voice box because he felt Gabby Gabby would need it more than him... she was defective out of the box and never felt whole in her life... He also gave away his sheriff badge to Jess as he knows she will do a better job than him... freedom is all he wants from now on... the end.
I watched it the day it came out and loved the whole thing and the thought that his voice box was taken our disturbed me! Like it was almost like he was giving up his life to help another. Like he was trying to start another life by almost leaving completely by it as a lost toy to have bo!! Which was cleverly terrifying!! ♡♡♡

That still doesn't make sense to me though. Tom Hanks even said it himself.....Woody's strongest character trait IS HIS LOYALTY. He was devoted to Andy.....ever since Andy was a very young child and was gifted Woody (along with Slinky and I think Rex?) by his Dad when his Dad died, Woody's purpose has always been to take care of Andy. His devotion was challenged three times.....once when Buzz came, then in the second movie when he found Jessie and the Prospector and they tried to convince Woody to come with them and be loved and admired by children forever.....then in the third movie when Andy was all grown up and the toys went to the daycare. All the other toys thought they liked it there and they would bring happiness to new children....but again, Woody's devotion was to Andy. No matter what, he was there for Andy.....until Andy went off to college and he realized Andy would always love him, but his journey with Andy was done. Then he went with the other toys to Bonnie. But then, Bonnie is still a child. Its true, Woody is not her favorite toy and he's spending more time in the closet than with her, but he's clearly still devoted to her. So WHY is he suddenly so willing to give Gabby his voice? Why her? And why does Woody still have his voice even after he gives his to Gabby. And then it almost turned out to be pointless, because even WITH the pretty new voice, the little girl didn't want Gabby. In then, in the end, he just walks away from Bonnie and chooses Bo Peep.....and I do see your logic that because he gave up his voice it severed his bond with children but WHY then does he say goodbye to Bo and go to join the others? He only really returns to Bo when Buzz tells him Bonnie will be OK.
I don't think Gabby Gabby deserved to have Woody's voice box
ngl, the ending got me messed up. yeah, we're all guilty of losing toys, but bonnie had a responsibility to keep woody and buzz together when andy went off to college.
but I'm also happy about it. it made me cry, and if you cry during a movie, that's how you know the story's good. total amount of crying was three.
(and gabby saying goodbye to forky was so sweet!! "goodbye my little utensil" aaa)
