I know a lot of people may think this seems so obvious but it really isn't. The amount of cars I've seen with buggered sills, floorpans and jacking points due to incorrect placement of trolley jacks is unreal! & a rubber puck is a must buy fro the cost of them.

You can see where you have bent the Rail with the jack, there are 2 points on each side on the pinch weld where you should Jack ,the slot in your Jacking Puck would keep it from bending. In those spots...

Many years ago, not long after it was new, I jacked up my 01 TT using a floor jack on the front rubber jack point (passenger side), and bent it up. The rubber mount now sits at an angle, the metal slightly crushed around one side. Needless to say I have used the sills ever since, (at least in the front) using a wooden slotted jack pad that I made up for added support.
Doug B great idea with the wooden slotted jack pad! I’ve seen a few bent sills and round ramp points bent over the last few years. I’m sure the sills get bent when people get carried away with a windy jack 😂
Nice video - thanks for sharing! One mistake I've made is wanting to jack the front up quite high but as I've gone to do the second side the axle stand has tipped over. It has to be done sequentially - very tedious! I now have an orange Halfords stand with a slightly bent circular foot..
Richard Holmes axle stands are a great cool but like you said don’t always do what you hope, I ended up getting 2 trolley jacks for when I want to get the car really high and I jack a few pumps each side then swap.

Hey Dan, usually a standard trolley jack will get under a stock tt however you may still be close on the sills dependant on how tall your jack is, best to measure before you buy one ( if you dont own one already)
Hey man loving the vids as always!! I have a question i just bought a 2001 tt quattro with a leaking driver’s side intercooler how can i be that i have a oil leak now?
The Parrott Bro’s yea I believe so i was driving in 6th gear when i gave it a bit of gas I heard something break but the car still drove fine (some power loss) and then i saw quite a bit of oil. Brougt it to a mechanic who told me the intercooler was broken. But you think its normal there is some oil in there? Its not a whole lot or something
Not as yet but can discuss it for sure, it’s not an easy job to do and film, we ran in to so many issues when doing it that I couldn’t film as we were against the clock some what.
@@TheParrottBros I have no issues doing it but would of been a nice watch. Got a slight leak from the power steering line and was going to do all the rear bushes anyway. Also do heldex filter oil change wile I'm there. Never ending 🤣

See under the mk 1 TT there are 4 rubber pucs what ever you want to call them two at the front two at the back its them I use when jacking my TT up is this wrong if so why are these rubber pucs on the underside
Hey thanks for the question. They are for lifting on a ramp, so would be lifting on all 4 at same time evenly spreading the weight across all 4. If you’ve been doing it for years and it hasn’t damaged them then I guess ok to carry on doing
This video is so random as I did a full look on TH-cam for jacking points in a Mk1 TT. So you still don’t explain the factory jacking points. My TT has damage where your jacking yours in this video. Spread the weight out is my take away. Maybe a bit of wood?
Steve Sloan on a ramp you would use the 4 round rubber jacking circles. They sell the car with a windy jack but that could and will damage the sills. A decent trolley jack comes with a reasonably wide foot with rubber which should not cause any damage to the car where I have recommended to lift it, this is a practice most tt owners and mechanics use. Great video, I have my Audi TT Mk1 for almost 10 years and I just learn the front to jack it in that area instead of the round puck up front.

The cooler system will have some oil in and if there is a split oil could well leak from there

Yeah there is usually in higher mileage cars enough oil to make a small puddle when separated. If it’s not leaking again since I wouldn’t worry

is there a chance that the rear subframe will bend when bcs of using as a jack point?
no, its one of the thickest metal construction parts at the back end of the car.
Have you done a video of taking off and putting back on the sub frames with all the bushes you replaced?

Leath25 the same would apply if your just changing one wheel, just jack up the side you want, or the rear jack the pair up
TT Mk1s have rubber bonuts . you can buy adopters to fit donuts
