    My problem in my hw says “Solve each system by the addition method”the problem is:
    3x+2y=12
    2x+5y=8 . How can I solve this with addition, I can solve this using multiplication but not adding, so is the paper just wrong?

      Hi Jason, with this problem it appears that the only option is to use multiplication first. Afterward, you can use addition or subtraction, but if the directions imply that you can solve it without multiplication, that is incorrect.

    How can i know when add and when to subtract the equation

    • @generalphysics5754
      @generalphysics5754 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The goal is to eliminate a variable, so if the numbers with that variable have the same sign, you subtract, the equations, and if they have opposite signs (positive and negative), you would add the equations.

    Hello Sir,look now i understood your explanation very well better than my teacher but,i have got 2 questions for you
    1)from where did you get the (9)?????
    2)i can replace the X with one of the equation so its ok with the second on right?because i tried it and i got a diferent answer!!??

      Moni Abboud Number 9 from the first equation?

    • @adammoyer6800
      @adammoyer6800 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ShirtyScarab554 In replacing the x with 3, 3x becomes 3 times 3 or 9. is that the 9 you are referring to? also yes you can use the second equation.

    • @adammoyer6800
      @adammoyer6800 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ShirtyScarab554 2(3) +5y =31 so 6 + 5y = 31. subtract 6 and you get 5y = 25 so after dividing by 5 we still get 3 for x and 5 for y
