the correct way to demo drums
God, Carter demos the drums so satisfyingly, quickly becoming one of my favorite youtube drummers. Not only does he actually play ALL of the toms at a broad dynamic and technical spectrum, he also tunes the drums so that they work together with their mounting hardware for full resonance. Any other showcases on a 7-piece would be greatly appreciated!
I have GOT to agree with you on this one! Damn, this guy's good! Man.. would I LOVE to have him backing me! Exactly what I'm looking for too! It just sounds old school melodic..not like that noise we hear today. I KNOW you can relate to that..😁

Nice setup of drum sizes, they sound perfect like a musical scale. This right here is a balanced drum setup from high to low, no more is needed. Could cover just about any style of music with this kit along with a double bass pedal added.

Cool video. I used to have that exact kit, with that exact sizes configuration (except it had an 18" floor tom as well with the 14" as rack-mounted, and a 6.5x14 Supraphonic snare). That kit was also black. I loved that damn thing, such a great drum kit. But, I sold it and downsized to a 4-piece Gretsch Catalina (white marine pearl). Love my Gretsch kit kit too!

Hearing a drummer that can play gorgeous phrases on a 3-piece kit play a 7-piece fusion-esque kit makes this probably the best drumming video on TH-cam. UGH. Beautiful sounding kit played by hands that were trained for it. Well done.

Is it Fm7 with 5 in the bass (16” floor tom)?
So from 16 to 10, you’d have C-F-Ab-C-Eb?
That’s what I tuned mine to but I’ve since moved my 14” to A, with 16” and 12” both up to E.
The reason being that F is not a “guitar-friendly” key like EADGB are.

I'm 42 now and still down wit' Ludwig. I ALWAYS come back to Ludwig Classic Maple tones....
In my personal opinion of playing many brands over 40 years, Lugwig is the only brand that can play any music from any era in 1 night. From jazz, blues, rock or metal all can be played with almost zero adjustments after tuning.

Sounds great . The black dots are more lively ( naturally ) . Good drums are good drums . These probably sound good with any heads . Your playing is exemplary ( & inspiring ) though . That and the way you mic doesn't hurt . Thanks .

I've watched a million demos, and this the one of the best (if not THE best) I've seen. No talking, very pleasant fills and grooves that would actually be usable in songs, no single hits and waiting 3 minutes for the decay, no shrill or annoying cymbals, just perfect. Thank you.

The Lord has blessed Carter with an intuition, sensitivity, and skill in tuning drums, like certain birds intuitively know to fly south for the winter. Its a gift. The one who has such a gift feels its natural and satisfying. Its designed to be as an oasis for appreciative souls who now endure living in a world that is riddled with uncertainties and strife all a round us. Its one reason why God created entertainment. But, I digress.... Excellent tuning ability. Give someone a palette and canvas and they will make a mess, and then boast about it. Give someone gifted the same palette? And he can make you marvel, yet with a modesty not to boast. That, folks. Was today's rudimental devotional. ;)

Sounds fantastic man! Ludwig makes the best drums, I saw the other video with the Black Dots as well. Both videos are awesome! Those Black Dots are my favourite heads hands down, especially the Smooth White ones! I hope to see you add on a 14” x 24” bass drum sometime or maybe even a 14” x 26” 🥁
