- This video is on how to stop a nosebleed or nose bleeds. Looking at what causes nosebleeds and first aid.
We have had quite a few messages on this weeks video topic so without further-ado here it is. I really hope my tips help you and always remember you’re awesome!

WHAT IS A NOSE BLEED:
Nosebleeds aren't usually a sign of anything serious. They're common, particularly in children, and most can be easily treated at home. Nosebleeds can be frightening, but they aren't usually a sign of anything serious and can often be treated at home.
The medical name for a nosebleed is epistaxis. During a nosebleed, blood flows from one or both nostrils. It can be heavy or light and last from a few seconds to 15 minutes or more.
The inside of the nose is delicate and nosebleeds happen when it's damaged. This can be caused by:
• Picking your nose
• Blowing your nose too hard
• The inside of your nose being too dry (because of a change in air temperature)
HOW TO STOP A NOSE BLEED:
• Sit or stand upright (don't lie down)
• Pinch your nose just above your nostrils for 10 to 15 minutes
• Lean forward and breathe through your mouth
• Place an icepack (or a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a teatowel) at the top of your nose
WHAT TO DO AFTER A NOSE BLEED STOPS:
After a nosebleed, for 24 hours try not to:
• Blow your nose
• Pick your nose
• Drink hot drinks or alcohol
• Do any heavy lifting or strenuous exercise
• Pick any scabs
WHEN TO SEE YOUR DOCTOR:
• A child under 2 years old has a nosebleed
• You have regular nosebleeds
• You have symptoms of anaemia - such as a faster heartbeat (palpitations), shortness of breath and pale skin
• You're taking a blood-thinning medicine, such as warfarin, rivaroxaban and many more.
• You have a condition that means your blood can't clot properly, such as haemophilia Your GP might want to test you for haemophilia or for other conditions such as anaemia.
WHEN TO GET EMERGENCY MEDICAL TREATMENT:
• Your nosebleed lasts longer than 10 to 15 minutes
• The bleeding seems excessive
• You're swallowing a large amount of blood that makes you vomit
• The bleeding started after a blow to your head
• You're feeling weak or dizzy
• You're having difficulty breathing
OTHER CAUSES OF NOSE BLEEDS:
Nosebleeds that need medical attention can come from deeper inside the nose and usually affect adults. They can be caused by:
• An injury or broken nose
• High blood pressure
• Conditions that affect the blood vessels or how the blood clots
• Certain medicines, like warfarin
• Sometimes the cause of a nosebleed is unknown.
Certain people are more prone to getting nosebleeds, including:
• Children (they usually grow out of them by 11)
• Elderly people
• Pregnant women

@@kayleetorres4242 that is happening to me right now too, I just keep on getting rid of them with some toilet paper until they stop coming then I go to a tap and Drink water straight from it then gargle it in my Mouth then slit it out, I repeat that prosses until all the extra blood clots from the back of my throat are gone

1. Stay Calm. Don't Panic or it will get worse.
2. Tilt your head forward to avoid choking.
3. Squeeze your soft part of your nose hard for 5 minutes.
4. If it still bleeds there is a problem.

I've had it bleed for 10-15 minutes and then stop. Not much problem, no going to the hospital was needed
Tip: Make sure your focusing on only breathing and exhaling through your mouth. Its help me speed up the process i know it sounds stupid but your stupid.

It's been 48 hours now, 2 trips to the ER because it was at night and 1 trip to urgent care and my nose is still bleeding from time to time. The longest it was bleeding for was over 40 minutes. I was literally sent home each time saying there was nothing they can do and to come back in if the bleeding starts again and does not stop after 20 minutes. My most recent trip to the ER, I was feeling noticeably weaker than normal and my hands and feet were ice cold. The doctor did a blood test to check for anemia, luckily was okay. I have those crazy blood clots coming out of the nose and my mouth...they are huge and disgusting. Sigh. I hope this stops soon. My nose is still bleeding, twice today already but the bleeding is less than yesterday. It's honestly really upsetting that there is nothing much anyone can do about such a simple issue. I was told that if my nose was actively bleeding when I was at the ER, then they could cauterize it with silver nitrate but that does not always work and it is very painful.

Im a nose picker but i had issues with nosebleeds in 2017 so ive been much more careful since. I got two at work today and one at home. The one at home was nasty, it bled more than before, and it wouldn’t stop even with a technique i learned (breathe in through bleeding nostril and breathe out through mouth) i somehow managed to stop it after my entire nose got clotted. What made it worse is that i have a nasty cold and ive been coughing for two days to the point where my throat hurts while breathing coz i tend to cough whenever i have an itch. Now i cannot touch the hard blood in my nose and im afraid of falling asleep

I’ve had loads of nose bleeds before like at school at peoples houses and at mine.
One of my family members once told me to pinch my nose and look up. And that’s wrong. This video has taught me. I might still have them. And once I had it and they were happening a couple of time and my cousin accidentally barged into me and I got it again it’s because your nose is not meant to touch anything like hard or something. Nice 👍 video. Are nosebleeds meant to happen anytime or is it meant to be a specific time like summer winter etc?

When i was a small kid i used to get A LOT of nosebleeds and to be honest i am so thankful for that because now i don’t get panicked at the sight of blood from my nose. One thing my doctor suggested one time and i will never forget is that whenever i get a nosebleed i should lightly blow my nose. It has helped me A LOT as i can now stop a nosebleed (altough they accor very rarely mostly due to dry air) in 1-3 minutes. I really don’t understands why people don’t suggeste that more, i get that it’s counter intuitive but once you remove the clot that formed there it’s pretty much done, in 10 seconds max it stops.

Why when using frozen peas/ ice do you recommend wrapping it in a towel? I always apply directly to skin.

I have nose bleeds as seasons change. Quite often in the middle of the night. Bursting blood vessels due to high/low temperatures.
Line my nostrils with Vaseline helps sometimes too

Fax bro I got a cut inside my nose and alcohol makes it stop but when I went to the doctor they burned the inside w some waxy thing and I never bled for a couple years till I needed to do it again

I watched in another video that it can be caused by dryness of air and that rubbing vaseline inside the nose is good. Can cocoa butter work as well?
