That statement the 911 operator said at the end has really stuck with me, for kids to not to be afraid to call 911 if they think it's an emergency. "I would rather them call and be embarrassed that it wasn't really an emergency, than for them not to have called and be sorry that they didn't."
+euan112358 -- It does me too. A lot of kids get scared to call 911 but...Katherine's mom told her to do it :) It was good of the operators not to criticize Katherine for calling 911, because she was only 5.
one of the funniest episodes I've seen! i love how she called back and was like the fireman can't get her out and I'm hungry and can only make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!!! lol
I love how the kid is worried about food and not knowing were the grocery store is. It was also really nice of the guy to make them p.b and j. sandwiches tho.☺
It's cute how children think. She thought her mom was going to be there forever and her brother and her were going to starve to death. So cute and innocent! Oh btw that train commercial was awesome. That train was niffty!! :p
Some of the comments are so mean she wasnt stupid she stayed calm spoke clearly and in case you didnt notice she was 5 for gods sake. Furthermore the dispatcher did say call back if theres any problems... well.. there was, she was hungry lol.
They’re accurate. 5 is old enough not to waste time on a life-saving phone line because you’re hungry. She’s probably fat af by now considering even in an emergency all she cared about was food.
@@NathanChisholm041 It was probably from the old comment system, before Google plus. A lot of the legacy comments from before Google took over are gone for good.
It's good that 911 takes all calls seriously whether funny or etc.You gain trust from these little ones. Other emergency centers of other countries would have told her that sorry call locksmith or something which is a recipe for disaster because they won't call you again even if there is a fire in the house. Bad people is what they will name you and you wouldn't want that because that's another recipe for disaster. So you are doing a great job. You actually saved the lives of the kids more than you know because maybe the little girl would have suddenly decided to cook without letting her mum know and one think could have led to another.
The firemen deserve a lot of credit your service is deeply appreciated thanks for your help whenever you need it way to go rescue your show rocks keep them safe out there ! Joe
Oh my God her 911 call is precious lol. "Um well, hi my name is Catherine and, I'm sorry to tell you this..." Bless her lol 😂 and she doesn't know how to make food and she's hungry LOL 😭
If you though this was embarrassing, how about getting stuck in a chimney? Rescue 911 showed a segment where a burglar playing Santa Claus got stuck in a chimney and it was very funny. This segment was uploaded by allgood2000.
This happened to me once when I was drunk. I couldn't figure out how to unlock the door from the inside. I was spending my first night with a new GF and she had to come after 20 minutes and unlock the door from the outside to find me naked on the floor trying to pry the door open. Good times. And so nobody gets any weird ideas, I was already naked when I went in there. I didn't just randomly decide to take my clothes off while trying to get out of the bathroom.
I love the simple way a child views the world "My mom is stuck and I'm hungry and I don't know how to make food. I'm gonna have to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for my brother..."
Had a situation like this at a friend's house when I was a kid. Neighbor was a 260 lb englishman, a former rugby player, and built like a brick shithouse. Couple of shoulder checks, that door opened right on up! :-D
No matter what the 911 operator thought she should have stayed on the phone with the girl until the EMT confirmed he/she was there. This girl was only 5 years old and her sibling even younger.
This reminds me of the time I got locked inside a public bathroom. I was in there for 2 hours and the firefighters had to come and take the door off 😳😆 It was REALLY embarrassing! but I can laugh about it now. If this show returns they should tell my story.
Oh My! She calls the operator back to report the fore dept can't do their job. LOL! Soooo cute! Worried about how she was going to eat and feed her brother.
She was subconscious about a few firefighters seeing her with a towel wrapped around her, so she acted out wearing said towel on national television. Makes sense... LOL
I am a truck driver who drives long haul cross country and one time I found myself in a situation like that at a place where my co-driver and I picked a load in Olive Branch Mississippi. I went into men's room and found myself locked in the restroom. After banging on the door and saying that the lock on the door was messed up, wasn't working right and that I was stuck and not able to get out...well....they didn't have to call 911. They called personnel from the maintenance department and let them know. It took them a little while but they got me out. I knew there was no need to panic though.
I had a similar mishap befall me when I was 28. I was working at a cookie bakery (although they often bake brownies and other great desserts), and I had to go to the bathroom. Even though there weren't any guys working there at the time, I still had to play it smart and lock the door. When I finished answering nature and whatnot, I went to go open the door...and it wouldn't open. I began to panic. Fortunately, my friend managed to get me out of there, but I was still scared. Since that predicament, the bathroom doorknob had been fixed.
Talk bout bien claustrophobic, Damn i would've freaked out MAN". 😊Brave little girl. Shes only 5 ,but it was halarious when she said,"im hungry ,don't know how 2 make food.🤣🤣🤣🤣glad mom's ok.damn.🙃👈💫poor girl waz starving. Awww 🥰
Aww, the little girl was so polite on the phone. :)

Katherine had very good manners on the phone for a 5-year-old :-)
The little girl was just precious!!
This has to be the most funniest cutest episode on Rescue 911/
I'm smiling ear to ear, the girl is so adorable. Kinda like saying damsel in distress, with cute firemen to the rescue.
Even though this was 4 years before I was born and this girl is 9 or 10 years older than me her call to 911 was so polite and adorable 💕
one of the funniest episodes I've seen! i love how she called back and was like the fireman can't get her out and I'm hungry and can only make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!!! lol
I doubt anyone would have let those children go hungry
I'm in Tear's listening to this!!!
I love how Katherine tried to balance being hungry with her mom being locked in the bathroom lol
Jane, her mom is beautiful!
the little girl is adorable
I love how the kid is worried about food and not knowing were the grocery store is. It was also really nice of the guy to make them p.b and j. sandwiches tho.☺
They were charged 500. For the sandwiches

That little Girl is now 28 years old since she was 5 years old around this Incident
If they didn't get my mom out then me and my brother would starve 😂
No one would of let the children go hungry which is understandable for the child to be that worried
this story was wierd but the little girl was smart and the commercial about the train... LMFAO

One of the rare episodes where no one gets hurt.
I think I smiled this entire episode. Sweet story 💕
the little girl is so cute when she is only 5 years old that is really cute on the phone with 911
This is rare episode, where people are not hurt by (physical) accident or violence. Thank Goodness, what a luck!

The Gilbert train commercial was the best part of this episode, damn I want one that was cool as hell.

So cute! She wasn’t going to panic. She was just trying to plan what to do if mom was stuck in the bathroom forever.
She should have called a neighbour or someone who could kick the door open
***** It's called walking 30 feet
You'd trust a 5 year old to walk somewhere alone? Yeah...... No thank ya

It’s funny how she called 911 back saying how she thought the firemen couldn’t get her out 😂😂😂😂
Kids are adorable
Does anyone else want the train set?
I know right
What a crappy ad how old was that?
MERCENARY FOR HIRE It was a commercial, not an ad🙄🙄
MEEE!!!
Me, it so cool
Hope she bought them a happy meal after. So cute
I love how well behaved these kids are. Kids that age these days are useless
so cute poor little girl lol shes hungry

The train commercial😂😂
She so cute she was very clam to be 5

That Katherine is smart and she is so intelligent ❤❤❤
What a smart little girl
oh i love old commercials
That commercial looked like it was shot in the 1970s. Lol
Don't have those kinds of commercials anymore. Glad that commercial was recorded. I was born in 1981 so I never got to see those commercials.
little girl droppin dimes on lazy firemen
Great job little lady

Well, in stereo where available. So get rid of your mono sound device mate :-p

I was scared of fire trucks at her age too. In the early 1960s there were no noise regulations and fire trucks had very loud ear piercing exhaust.
That train is nifty
That's so cute!
Ooh gonna google that train now. My nephews would love that train...too bad this commercial was on more than 25+ years ago
