    The same situation happened to me and my sister the only difference is we were both in the car when my sister was playing with the gear stick. Thank God my dad caught the car in time

    That car was a 1986 which may not have had an ignition lock (mean the gearshift could be changed even when the car is off. I had a 1989 Oldsmobile (same platform as this Chevy) and the gearshift would not move in "Lock" (when you could remove the key) but with the ignition on you could select gears without pressing the brake pedal. These days this sort of accident is much more rare.

      I’m glad for the gearshift lock

    Never leave your car keys and all the car doors left open if your children are around. Always bring your keys with you and keep all doors locked anytime you leave

      @101Volts ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. But that said, cars made more recently do not allow the gear shift to be moved from park if you're not pressing the brake down. This one did let that happen, because it wasn't a feature to have.

    This happened in freaking 1994. I'm the twins' age and our parents weren't as overprotective as everyone is now. Back in the 90s, people felt bad, now everyone's first reaction is to judge and scream CPS. Now granted, he should have pulled the key before getting the paper towels. People like him being on this show probably prevented a lot of accidents, so others learned from his mistake. I know my mom watched this show religiously and changed the way she did some things after seeing preventable accidents on this show.

      My first child was born in 1994 and i was always super protective of all of my kids. I was abused as a young child and i was a fearful person as a result. I lived in constant fear as a child and was always waiting for the next beating to happen. Bad things happening were very much a part of my reality and i was aware of that 24 hours a day so i always assumed the worst. No one protected me until one day i was picked up at school by cps (mid 80s) and taken to a Foster home. This was after i had been strangled by my abuser and there were little dots around my eyes from the capillaries bursting from the strangulation. I refused to ever let my kids feel like nobody loved or cared about them and no one was there to make sure they were safe.

    ENOUGH WITH THE SELF-RIGHTEOUS COMMENTS! THE FATHER MADE A MISTAKE. Stop with the "Well, I would never leave my kids alone with the car", "That father should have known better", "Some people are bad parents". The father is only human like all of us. He made a mistake, and no doubt was emotionally crushed! We all have lapses in judgements. Maybe not resulting in deadly accidents, but we all make errors or become sidetracked at some point. So unless you've NEVER made ANY mistake EVER, (And if you say you haven't, you a liar and/or delusional!) You have no right to look down your nose at the father in this video.

    LOL! Kid screaming like he’s having fun. Dad saying, MICHAEL WHAT ARE YOU DOING STOP! PLEASE STOP! Except the for when he ran over the other boy who was working on the car. It sounds like something that would happen if an autistic and mischievous kid ever got a hold of a car and then drove it around.

    I wish for this TV show to be released in its entirety on DVD with all the uncut episodes and extras, if there are any. It's a favorite TV show of mine, yet so far there has been only one VHS tape with five episodes released - In 1997. If it were released like that, buying it would be one of my best purchases in my life.

    For all of you saying Disrespectful stuff. You all have to realize that it was a accident. One they were just little boys. They didn't know any better. Two the dad did think about his mistake that he should have closed the door. I hope the whole family is doing good. Hope Andrew is still doing good too.

    • @101Volts
      @101Volts 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @cats400 It's not just 90s engineering, all (or most) automobiles before the 1990s could have been shifted from park without pressing the brake. Even my 99 Suburban can and both 2000 Caravans I drove could have been.

    Get a cd player or boombox or mp3 player that you can keep with you and listen to music on, never leave the car open with children around and most definitely take your keys with you.

    Accidents happen it wasn’t done on purpose. Should never let your kid play behind your vehicle. If you see a kid behind a vehicle make him move and that would not have happened but it’s an accident on for scene.

    not only did he endanger his children but he caused Property damage to someone's home. all this could have been avoided had he told the kid to go get the towels. why do 90% of these accidents require a helicopter to get the person to the hospital. hell in a 5 mile radius of my house there are 3 hospital. if you need a helicopter to get a child to hospital you need to talk to your Mayor to fix that problem. wheres the nearest hospital to them'? 600 miles? they shouldn't need a helicopter.

      The helecopters take them to the hospital that has the specialists in the field the patient needs the most, not to regular hospitals. Each hospital has different specialist.
      There's a big difference.

      @@brittany7jeffrey4 plus not all hospitals have the tools for child trauma. Often you need a pediatric hospital which aren’t available in all areas.

    The kid is old enough to get things himself. The father should of told his son where the towels were and had his son go and get it himself. The kid wasn't helpless. He's got legs to walk and his arms aren't broken. (I was raised this way myself).
    Why didn't the father just go and get his son out of the car on the driver's side since the door was already open?

    • @nancyfarkas3592
      @nancyfarkas3592 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      He's 3! He may not be able to reach the paper towels. Seriously? People like you just don't make sense. Granted the father should not have left the door open on the car with the keys in it. But lesson learned the hard way.

    • @nancyfarkas3592
      @nancyfarkas3592 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Marci Turner So you suggest a child get a chair, climb up on a counter and potentially get hurt that way? Again he was THREE. Kids that age have no sense of danger!

    • @marciturner4980
      @marciturner4980 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They have no sense because parents do every single thing for them. Kids will learn at a very young age if they are tonight how to do things for themselves. Plus, it's better that a child falls off the chair instead of on being unattended outside and get ran over. Falling off a chair is just a scratch and bruise. Not when leaving the other out all alone with a dangerous equipment. And this is why parents have problems with their kids: doing things for them instead of having their kids do things for themselves; children are so lazy today because of it.

    • @nancyfarkas3592
      @nancyfarkas3592 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Marci Turner You don't get it do you? Clearly you don't have kids. How is him getting his own paper towels going to prevent what happened? No falling off a chair is not just "a scratch and a bruise" What if he fell of the counter? Or got a sharp knife and hurt himself? You clearly don't have kids.
