What I love about him, is he was never ashamed of the role he played, like other actors who got famous for things they've done and are like that. He was always proud of it. RIP Paul Reuben, you will be missed.
What time he was a little bit because you got typecasted but I think as time went on he realize that that character was still relevant and still a fan-favorite so we decided to embrace and he just kind of did what Jason David Frank did he realize that he was a Power Ranger and trying to be anything more than that was never going to work so he embraced his character turn got him embraced financially
Much like Jim Varney, he was a fantastic actor who sadly was mostly known for one character. He was excellent in the movie Blow with Johnny Depp, he also played a truly scary character in the series The Blacklist.
RIP to a comedic icon. He really knew how to appeal to all audiences. Paul, you were one amazing guy with a heart of gold. We at the Ruiz Family miss you and love you.
This scene seems to imply that Pee Wee doesn't actually need to eat for sustenance, but enjoys the act and puts on a whole production for his amusement.
He definitely does eat for sustenance I just think he does it in a child's way or he would rather make it interesting. Most children like to make eating time interesting
The score over the Rube Goldberg madness of the breakfast machine...so epic. Danny Elfman would become an iconic composer over the next few years, but this piece is what I think started him on the journey.
Wouldn’t be surprised to find out Danny Elfman made one of these as a kid either. He did a lot of science projects, some of which were probably too dangerous to allow a kid his age to have done.
I say Peewee Herman is so funny, he makes me laugh a lot!😄😆😄🤣😄😆🤣 What also makes me laugh is when Peewee is in front of the Bathroom mirror, he wraps Scotch tape all around his head and face and goes La, La, La, La, La, Hello!
Things I love about this sequence: * The look on the carrots face as the rabbit slippers go near it * Pee Wee strains to lift 10lbs * His clothes change after he goes down the fire pole * In order for his “breakfast machine” to work, he would have to set everything up the night before (which would take hours) * He’s literally a “98lb weakling” *The music (obviously) * The ceiling shot was filmed by dropping pancakes on a “floor set”, and the footage reversed to get the effect * His horoscope telling him “Don’t go outside today”, and him immediately discarding it (if he doesn’t follow the advice, why does he take them to begin with?”😂 * the forced perspective shot of Speck’s bowl * All of the props and 1950s/vintage props in the background * Mr. T’s cereal, which was really a thing and that was one of the actual catchphrases RIP Paul Reubens.
How about how that scene in the mirror and tape being ripped off probably inspired McCauley Culkin in, "Home Alone"? Being of course who was in Michael Jackson's, "Black Or White", and Pee Wee was in, "Moonwalker", as well as Joe Pesci concerning those two full length feature films...
How about the fact that, after all that effort and time setting up a Rube Goldberg machine to make pancakes and orange juice, Pee Wee sits down and has a few bites of cereal before leaving, consuming precisely no pancakes or orange juice whatsoever? 😂
Great and Grateful Memories! Pee Wee's Playhouse would come on, my 3 kids would sit down to watch it. I would go back and forth as I cleaned thinking what a silly show it was. My house would be filled with gut wrenching laughter that echoed above the vacuum as it all but shook the windows. He delightfully made kids all over spontaneously combust with hysterical laughter! Thank you Pee Wee Herman, Paul RIP and God bless you!
Huh. Would ya look at that. Pee Wee and I have the same workout routine. Also, to this day, that crazy music runs through my head almost every time I make breakfast. Thanks, Danny Elfman!
This is one of the best made films of the 20th century. As a child of the 80s born in the late 70s I was born at the perfect time for properly appreciating this film- and its score, humor, and our beloved Paul Reuben’s. He was always in character every time he was in public for over 25 years. He had his trials and tribulations but he was human. He deserves the dignity and kindness he bestowed upon so many others
Pee-Wee lived alone, didn't need anyone else, did his own thing, didn't bother anyone, and was the happiest person on the planet. Despite him being an adult, he somehow managed to keep living in the summerset of childhood. We should all strive to be a Pee-Wee.
Lol he reminds me a bit of myself, but not to such an extreme. Maybe it's his appearance and hairstyle. He looks an awful lot like me... and the thing he does with the bunny slippers. Totally not something I'd do (hah).
Imagine waking up every morning this happy and full of life. No worries, no garbage job that makes you hate everything, just pure fun and enjoyment. I'd give anything to experience that for just one day. RIP Pee Wee. Say hi to Large Marge for us.
RIP Paul Reuben thanks for the childhood memories. Your show Pee Wee's Playhouse from 1986-1990 was one of the big mainstays of any Saturday morning cartoon viewing a must watch for kids of the era. Your skits on the show were funny, and you captured that child like wonder kids have when using thier imagination to play. Long before Spongebob tried to copy that.
RIP to the great Paul Reubens AKA "Peewee Herman" Wow, this is hard😥 This movie will forever be one of my favorites. You brought so much joy into all of our childhood and you'll never be forgotten. As a 7 year old I couldn't get enough of this movie and still can't get enough of it till this day. 🙏💙
Most of us growing up in 80's have this wake up scene memorised. 🙂 Brilliant work Mr Rubens. The world will forever miss you. Till we all meet again. 👍
my dad always thought the concept of naming a really small dog Speck was hilarious, and i always thought he was nuts for laughing like crazy everytime this scene came on.....
i think it would be even funnier if a giant of a dog is named speck. so you hear the owner calling for speck and you expect a tiny dog when up bounds a giant saint bernard wagging their tail.
And from what I gather it was basically watered down bootleg Cap’n Crunch, mister t doesn’t pity the poor fool who don’t eat his cereal, he pity’s the poor foo who eats that crap
Phil Hartman and Paul Reubens worked together in the Groundlings as well as wrote the script for Pee Wee's Big Adventure. Paul Reubens was a brilliant comedian and an original act.
Watched this movie last week as a tribute to Paul Reubens, still hard to believe he’s gone. He was a rare gem. Like many kids of the 80’s I had grown up watching Per-Wee’s Playhouse and loved it because it was fun and educational. Thank you for all the memories Paul Rubens, may you rest in peace.
That's the point. Plus, if you think about it, he really didn't make breakfast. A friend was made. Mr. Breakfast, who wanted Mr. T cereal for breakfast. Which he gave him, and Pee Wee could not eat it the Mr. Breakfast, so he ate Mr. T cereal instead.
This movie was my absolute favorite when I was a kid. Such a goofy and fun movie, once you see it you never forget it. "Tell 'em Large Marge sentcha!" RIP Pee-Wee 😪
I love how this scene has been copied in so many different places xD Took me ages to find out what the heck it was from. That music really goes well with the scene too.
Not enough good can be said about a person whose job they make to bring joy and laughter to children. He'll be forever missed, and his memory cherished. ❤
Can’t believe this, RIP Paul Reuben. You’ve truly brought Pee Wee to life in our childhoods! I’ll always cherish this scene
Yes, it's so sad, was in front of the TV every single Saturday morning to watch Pee-wee's playhouse😢😢
Yes. He still lives on in our imagination and our hearts. What is today’s magic “word”?
He wasn't that old, maybe he did stuff?
Peewee got cancer.
Yeah it's so sad, everyone lost their favorite public master baiter.

No, the joke is that he did all that to make breakfast, but barely ate any of it.

IOW, you're the target audience for the film.
My grandpa woukd watch Pee Wee with me when I was 6. He would laugh and laugh with me! Thank you Paul Reubens. Keep making my grandpa laugh!
Classic. All that work to make breakfast and he eats about five pieces of cereal and he's done. :)
Yeah he fixes all that food for breakfast and only eats one bite and then he's done! I always think to myself, What a waste of good food!
Maybe he ate it when he got home
I thought he would want to eat more than that for breakfast!
He's 98 pounds. Give him a break yo. LOL!!! He can only eat so much. He does it to play with his toys. Herher!!!
I wanted the 🥞 pancakes and the 🥓 bacon on the side.

It’s the pancake-flipping Abe Lincoln statue & that giant butter knife & fork that does it for me! 😆

Hahaha I never noticed the carrot had a face
How about the fact that, after all that effort and time setting up a Rube Goldberg machine to make pancakes and orange juice, Pee Wee sits down and has a few bites of cereal before leaving, consuming precisely no pancakes or orange juice whatsoever? 😂
And the 2 foot long butter knife
What this scene doesn't show is the two hours Pee Wee spends every night resetting the machine.
I believe that it's actually set up by an actual prop department and arranged by Tim Burton...
Right!
He made another machine that sets this one up automatically
