Today is a difficult day for me. Yesterday there was a mass shooting at an elementary school in a nearby community. Our news is full of the details and I'm on overload. I needed something to listen to that was more engaging than music, preferably funny. TH-cam tutorials usually hit the spot.
This video re-dropped on my connect screen for TH-cam. I immediately clicked to watch again because it's Karen Brown. Of the MANY things she does well, she's my go-to for a soothing voice, no muss nor fuss and something fascinating to discover.
Karen, if you read this, thank you.

Having my first coffee this morning and ran across your tutorial on rope “do dads”. I’m on my second 1000 ft of cotton rope now. I’m just as addicted to it as I am to quilting,, HELP 😂. Wish I could show you what I’ve made so far. After seeing your large Market Bag I do believe it will be next. For the past few years as Christmas gifts I’ve made some type of sewing project for my family; which seem to grow each year. Gifts have been aprons, pillowcases jellyroll rugs and pat year was Sliced Rugs. 17 rugs each year😂. I am so blessed to be able to do all the stitching I do and plus watch tutorials such as yours to inspire me. KEEP ON STITCHIN❤

You are amazing that looks like such a fun project! What is wrong with people who do this thumbs down stuff? I will never understand why you tube allows it anyway. It is nothing but negativity. If they don't like what they see they can move on, no one needs to hear it...OK, I'm stepping off my soapbox now. LOL

Ii agree with everyone, your delivery is awesome and I love your projects. So cool. I have wanted to do this for ages, even have the rope, and now maybe I can finally get this done. I will offer one thing, your machine most likely has a knee lift. If you were to use it, it would make this project so much easier, especially at the start. You would use your knee to raise the presser foot and your hands would be free to continue holding the rope & scissors. The continuity of your hands being in place will make everything easier as you are not having to put down and pick up your "poking" things. At first you may feel a bit awkward, but after about the third lift you will be saying "OMG, oh yes". Anyway, just a thought.

I have made alot of different items by wrapping the cord with left over fabric strips that are 1/2 to 3/4 wide. You use some fabric glue at the beginning and end of each strip. You can mix and match the colors of the fabrics any way you wish. Make the wrapped cord as long as you need for each item. Then sew into the shapes of the item you want by zigzagging like Karen demonstrated. This is a neat way to use up selvage fabric that you would otherwise throw away.

My Singer machine HATES this project! I’ve tried many times. She’s so damn pampered I had to give up! Love your inspiration though.
