One night my Dad came home with this movie, saying things like, "Guys, you're going to love this! It's based on the cartoon I grew up with as a kid!" When we reached the scene where Rex tells Speed that he isn't his brother, my Dad got so mad. He audibly gasped and said, "What?!". Clearly, this meant a lot to him. We were still engrossed, but he was deeply disappointed. But after he saw this last scene, he was so glad, and the moment greatly effected all of us. Needless to say, he's happy now :)
I love the way he says no like he knows he wants to but has to denie himself his wants, I'm sure your father really appreciate the way it was done, Rex was played spot on
He had to leave to keep Speed alive. And he had to disappear to keep his mistakes from catching up with him. He also had to stay away from him to keep Benelli from hurting him. There was no other way to keep him safe.
Not really, Movies back then are exceptionally better than they are now. Sure we get a great movie every once and a while but the majority of them is recycled garbage with no substance. Television shows and series are on another level while the Movies are getting Lazy.
Matthew Fox would've made a brilliant Bruce Wayne/Batman in a film or TV Show just the way he portrays Racer X in the film screams Batman and the way he portrays his emotions are fantastic he can go from happy to angry and sad just like that
Now this movie wasn't critically great (it was still really fun), but this scene has stayed in my mind for years and I haven't been able to forget it. I remember watching the movie as a kid when it first came out and being FLOORED that Rex really was his brother and that he did all of this stuff to make sure they never found out he lived so he could protect his family. It blew my mind because even though I sort of guessed he was the brother, the reveal was still so unexpected. The reveal and him choosing not to tell his family is now a scene that I will never forget.
