@@karenduff9724 Sorry for such a late reply. I'm just now seeing your comment. There is an Amazon link to the Gas One Stove in the description. It comes with the attachment.
You are full of wisdom. Great choice by following manufacturers recommendations on not using butane due to the stove overhang. I’ve seen here on TH-cam stories about butane explosions that could have been prevented. Great video.
Bought the same oven a few weeks ago, and plan to wrap a long piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil up one side, across the top, and down the other side, using magnets to keep the foil tight against the oven. Hopefully, this simple modification will improve the oven's efficiency. After watching your trial run, which was a complete success, I'm motivated to try mine too. Thanks!
I used heavy duty foil too & it works. I used those metal clips to hold it in place & I also put a flat red brick on bottom to raise above the direct heat & had a second cooking surface.
I put two fire bricks on the bottom inside the stove ,hang a thermometer on the rack and wrap tin foil around the top and sides of the stove. Works for me.
hey Kim, I used just a red brick I had & it worked well-had another cooking surface. Used a thermometer on the rack too-I also covered the outside with heavy duty foil , used metal clips to hold in place & made sure it came down to double as a wind blocker. It packs up & goes in the box when done.
I just ordered one of these Coleman ovens and it is supposed to be here tomorrow. After watching your great video I'm going to try your carrot cake recipe. I head out camping next week and I hope to impress my friend with this oven and of course your cake. Thanks so much for sharing.
I'm definitely impressed on how well you've managed the setup on the oven and that delicious looking carrot cake. Well dine little young lady. Your definitely a joy to watch.
I just picked up one of these in a thrift store. It's a bit older, but it's exactly the same. I went through the opposite process you did because when I found it, it was fully assembled, and I needed to learn how to collapse it. I now realize from watching some videos that it's missing the baking rack, so I'm going to have to create that.
i've compared many of these to my own and it's more like 50-75 degrees off. actually if you measure the temperature of the door next to the heat indicator the accuracy is not bad, the problem is that the heat indicator does not tell you what the temperature at the center of the oven is. obviously it can't because it's mounted on the door....
Very Nice Video. Thank you. Also, please know regular garden hose shouldn’t be used for drinking water, the white hose is for that. Not sure if you knew this so, just wanted to mention that. Again thank you and May God Bless.
They are the Yokohama Geolander M/T G003 225/65/17. That renegade had a 1.5" lift from Teraflex and 1" wheel spacers to get those tires to fit. We no longer have it but it was a fun vehicle. Thanks for watching.
I gave my self one of these ovens for xmas !!! It came today yipeee. Thanks for advice too ive heard of the stone but the welders mat / blanket ? Whats it called lol sounds like a great addition too👍merry xmas ❤
I saw a person make wind breaker with license plates because they are12 inch high and you can make them out of 9 license plates or more and picture hanging wire and wirecutters then connected them together. See the demonstration on you tube on Ninth element, did wind screen made easy with license plates.
Any brick or cast iron skillet will work as a "heat sink" to maintain temp in oven. I have a terrace brick in my house oven...it keeps oven at a stable temp.
I found that the temperature gauge is not accurate. It gets plenty warm on the inside. What I did is I put three layers of aluminum foil on top of the rack to disperse the heat. I made cookies in there just to try it out and it turned out perfect. Did not burn the bottom.
Apparently the thermometers are not that accurate. They understate the true temerature. So you would have to experiment a little.Nice looking carrot cake.
When using dark coated baking pans, you must adjust your baking temp down to 325°, as us bakers know. A sheet cake would have been better and baked normally. But to use thick, small, dark coated baking cake pans, and too high a heat while losing heat from an open seam, will cause your cakes to become drier, harder, tougher. With carrot cakes, I steam my carrot shreds to half cooked to get a more even, less baking time, as those raw carrots will make baking time longer, as they add liquid to the cake mixture while baking, thus, a drier cake in the end, as the carrot liquid evaporates. Olive oil will make all cakes, brownies, etc., much more moist. Just a bakers tip.
The oven is 12" x 12". Amazon sells 36"x 36" NON FIBERGLASS welding blankets for 39.99, but they also sell a 2 pack of 12" x 36" for 19.99 ( now with 20% off, additionally) and no need to make any cuts. I plan to drape one blanket, side to side over the top, and the second one back to front ( covering the door. I'll put some large , metal " binder clips" on the bottoms ,to weigh them down and be able to open the door. Should increase the temperature and act as a windbreak.

@@ArtfulOutdoorAdventures No problem. These guys use that oven often and they have a thermal blanket on it.

I read a comment somewhere else that placing a cast iron skillet on the bottom helps to even out the temperature.

Are those 4" or 6" spring form pans? Just purchased a Coleman Oven. Can't wait to try your recipe at our next camp out in April! Thank you!
They are 4inch. I hope you enjoy it!

thanks i will certainly buy a camp oven after seeing this video. that carrot cake looks delishious

I place a clay or ceramic slab in mine, then preheat. The slab helps to maintain even tempter.
Good idea! I got a pizza stone and it works well also.

You can buy a welding blanket to go over the top and sides to help keep the heat consistent.

Buy a baking stone and cut with a masonry grinding disc to fit. No burned anything.
Some people put in a pizza stone, unglazed tile or a unglazed terracotta pot saucer.
fantastic

Where to get those cool oven bowl thingys??.😊
😁Are you referring to the Pans? I think I just picked those up at my local HomeGoods store.
Apparently the thermometers are not that accurate. They understate the true temerature. So you would have to experiment a little.Nice looking carrot cake.
You took your windguard down thats when the temp tumbled
What brand and size small bake pan are you using, seems taller?
They are 2” tall and about 4” diameter. I unfortunately don’t know what brand they are.
oh, btw - what size were the springform pans?
They are 4" diameter by 2" deep
Could you have put foil on top of the oven to prevent the heat from escaping?
I bet that would have helped. It was very windy though.
NO FROSTING!!????
😁 Not this time

no it cant make carrot cake, it just sits there. you can make and cook anything in these if you practice.
😆 …and here I was hoping it’d wash the dishes too.

Good to know! Thanks. The welding blanket does help maintain a more temperature. I also recommend a pizza stone.
