I have the same Coleman oven for now 4 years. And it is great! Made lasagne in it, a apple pie, bread, and next camp trip I will try to bring it to a next level. But a tip, use very heavy dutie cotton, or a welding blanket as a cover for insulation. And a pizza stone in the bottom for more evenly spreading of the heat.
Thank you so much! Been thinking about getting the Coleman oven. Have watched several videos before yours. Suddenly, the TH-cam gods brought you to me! After watching your Apple crisp, think for sure I'll get the oven. *going to check out if you have other videos ❤🙏
Hello & great apple crisp. I've had my Coleman now for almost 2 yrs. Purchased in May of 2020. I've cooked bisquits outdoors & did a loaf pan size of mac & cheese & zucchini bread. I used inside too on my gas stove & did cornbread. I made a make shift cover for the unit from heavy duty aluminum foil to cut down on the wind blowing the flame-used the metal file clips to hold in place. This also helped keep the heat in to cook food faster.
@@ExploreTrekAdventure Thanks. I also watched the youtubers, Careyonvagabond & they have a video from @ 1 yr ago where they used a carbon felt welding blanket & made a cover. I may be trying this out.. Here is the link: th-cam.com/video/p0EVCUwd6MY/w-d-xo.html
It’s been 2 years have you done any mods to the oven like a pizza stone to heat more evenly,a welding blanket to keep the heat in and a thermometer inside the oven? I have made simple things, blueberry pie, cinnamon buns bake potatoes.
We have just been using the oven in its normal form. I think a pizza stone would be a great upgrade. Blueberry pie and cinnamon buns sound delicious. 😋
The Coleman oven has been a classic for decades. It's completely bizarre that Coleman would cancel this product and replacement parts after all this time. They don't have anything that is even close to replacement.
@@bjnslc Yes, they've brought it back. For the longest time it was marked as 'discontinued' on Colemans website and on all the parts stores we checked and eBay sellers were charging a premium. It was that way for so long that our Scout Troop ended up moving to another manufacturer for replacements. I'm happy to see it's back.
@@ExploreTrekAdventure If you make an abundance, I believe there are freezer-friendly crumble/crisp topping recipes...(my mother and I made caramel apple blossoms in puff pastry in muffin tins with a crumble topping that we made ahead of time, sectioned out and frozen... we then brought the amount we would need.)
Great to learn that the oven is able to maintain/exceed baking temp even when outdoor temp is cold. Helpful thanks

Great tips. Thank you. 😀
I was planning on using a couple red bricks to place on the bottom. At least until my next monthly pay check
@@susananderson9619 i am using a Lee stone on the bottom, every other stone or tile broke due to the heat
I love mine! I make casseroles, roast meats and veggies...one of my favorite camp kitchen items. Invaluable.
Thank you so much!

We love ours . Haven't baked much though. Some muffins and a cake for my wife on her birthday while camping.
Fresh Birthday cake while camping. 😍😍

Great idea with the aluminum foil cover. We may give that a try. 😀

I love warm apple crisp topped with vanilla ice cream or a splash of half-n-half cream.
Looks nice!
Looks amazing!
Minus the super crispy corners it was delicious.
Woah that's a cool oven!
I have the same little oven. Use it with the gas stoves. I enjoy it quite a bit.
We camp there in January & July - but I'm always shocked by the lack of privacy in the tent area... you're stacked on top of each other. Great video.
They definitely could use a few more shrubs in the tent loop.
Cut A 9.4”X 9.4” Ceramic Tile And Place In The Bottom! You Will Get The Heat But W/O Bottom Burn!!!

I use the top shelf for all my baking in this oven . No burning in the bottom
Great Tip!

The oven's still available. I don't know about parts, but we bought a new one this year.

I have a similar to this style oven, but it's an older 1 & it has a window & 2 shelves .
Look for the older 1s.
Do you have a link or description for your square pan? Thank you
It was a Pyrex 8” square baking dish.
@@ExploreTrekAdventure Thank You! I think I found it on amazon with a red lid! Perfect.
Looks tasty! How’s the oven going?
So far it has exceeded expectations. 😀
Thanks for this video. What brand and size of your baking dish ?
We’ve added a link in our description for the glass cooking dish. 🙂
My favorite apple crisp recipe uses half flour/half oats, and half white sugar/half brown sugar 😋
We definitely need to try it with oats next time. Multiple people have mentioned it. 😀

The temperature gauge on those ovens are NOT ACCURATE. Use your own thermometer.
The Apple Crisp looks great, keep those recipes going. Perhaps meatloaf may work in that oven.
We happen to be vegan but we should be able to make a decent meatloaf style dish with a few substitutions. Challenge accepted! 😀
I thought apple crisp also called for a lil oatmeal mixed with the flour? Is my memory screwy now?
Lots of people say oatmeal, my grandma’s recipe doesn’t call for it, but that does sound good. 😁
thats pretty much an apple crumble minus the rolled oats
You are the second person to mention that. We will need to try a version with rolled oats next time.
