Yes sir it’s soft maple that has some spalt Spalt is a sign of decay or rot but as long as is still solid it’s a good board

A family I follow from Alabama has a 40 acre spread that they just finished doing perimeter fencing couple of months ago.They constructed their house in pole barn concept.😊
This wood is called (widow screen). It’s a very, very old wood.
Like seeing logs opened up to reveal their beauty. Maple for sure. If it had been oak, Brittany wouldn't have been handling those slabs by her self so easily, maybe not at all.
Wanted to comment on the last video revealing that you were back into horses to relate to your story. I raised gaited saddle horses for a long time. I was breeding Spotted Saddle Horses and Tennessee Walkers with pinto colors. In about 2008, the horse market went south here in SW Missouri, and I bailed out. Sold my mares and stud for a song. Thought I might get back into them one day, but health and life had different plans for me. Looking forward to watching your re-entry into the horse world.
The mystery log looks like maple with spalting.

I am going with maple as the dark streaks look exactly like they do in ambrosia maple.
I say Maple. I had a maple tree cut away from my power lines a couple of years ago and I told the tree service that I wanted it. It sat in the woodline until I finally bought my LT 15 Start last month and used the logs for practice. It looks a lot like what you have there.

I remember I worked for a carpenter, we built a horse barn, with stales, for horses. Just made it from spruce, the horses chewed it all to pieces in 2 weeks, completely destroyed. I never got payed either!!

I got some similar graine here in Florida and they call it red maple by being sitting for some time it's got a lots of sploithing in it very close to what mine were P.S. Tyler i was waiting to make sure a few video back you were talking about your Jubilee tractor and said that those old tractor did not have a safety switch for strating to always make sure they were neutral i used mine today put it in gear while seating on it and the starter button would not go down i tried every gear even reverse and also tried with tje clutch down and the starter button would not go down so there is something blovking the button if in gear so if you feel like it try it yourself but make sure you are in the seat first have a great day

You say you don't have much use for the slabwood off the outside of the logs. My brother-laws' family had a large pallet plant here in Indiana. They had a machine that they thru any trash pallets they received along with the scrap lumber into it, and it ground it up, then they sold it as mulch for around shrubs and plants. It was a slight course, but I bet you could mix sawdust with it. It worked like a hammer mill and pulverized the material.

Guessin maple if it was osage like one comment said it would be extremely dense and heavy ive got some small pieces that are thoroughly dried out and theyre still pretty heavy
