    being in the editorial team would be an absolute dream! I will be studying English Literature with Creative Writing start September 2020 and this has offered me the motivation to study hard to be able to get my dream job (reading books for a living). Of course there are hardships that come with every job but I just know in my heart, as dramatic as this sounds, that this is where i belong.

    As someone studying LIS and also keeping their eyes open for career opportunities with that degree outside the library world I would have loved to hear more about the metadata team! Maybe in a future video.

    Really interesting to hear from the people in the different departments! I'm sure this teaches a lot of people about publishing 🙂

    This is so interesting - the publishing houses I've worked in are organised totally differently. It's really cool to see how different it can be. Your marketing and publicity seem much closer together, in Comms, than where I've been.

      Glad to help! It can be a bit confusing all the different jobs - I didn't even know the differences between some of these jobs even after a few months of working in publishing! But hopefully this will encourage people to pursue a publishing career even if they don't want to follow one of the more traditional routes...

Do you have any advice for candidates like me who are trying to get into the industry at beginner levels? It’s been a dream for me to work in publishing and I want to be able to maintain this dream as soon as possible!

    If I want a job in a publishing house how would I go about this? I don’t have any experience working in a publishing house but I have limited retail experience. I find it hard finding jobs when I don’t have much experience for the role I’m applying for. Any help please?

    Is there a roll for actual proof reading? More and more I read new books with spelling errors, omitted words, wrong words, poor grammar. This should not have become acceptable! Where/how can I find a job as a proof-reader?

    • @BookBreak
      @BookBreak  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes those jobs definitely exist! Though I believe it's usually a freelance job rather than working inside a publishing house.
