  • In today’s episode, Cesar is joined by Darin Olien, Wellness Expert and Co-Host of the Emmy Award Winning, #1 Netflix docu-series, Down to Earth with Zac Efron. Cesar and Darin discuss how our habits have pushed us away from our natural, simple, and profound self, how the system has failed us, and how we need to always be curious in what we do in our lives to connect with the earth and ourselves.

      I dont believe that people really have grasped the concept of "energy." I see you telling them basic points such as "he feels your energy and it isnt right," but they have no grasp of how enormous energy is. People live way too much in matter and not enough in energy, and if they could understand that just because you cant see it, doesnt mean it doesnt exist. WIFI exists and cell phone signals etc. If you are a person that can actually see energy or auras or spirits, those people probably have a better understanding. Anyway, I am so grateful to you because over the many, many years EVERYTHING that I have ever learned about dogs, I have learned from you...and I am still learning. I take notes, even. I memorize them and then practice it. Thank you, Cesar. God bless you, my cyber friend :) .

    I am a total fan of Cesar Millan. Over the years I have learned an enormous amount about dogs from him and put it to good use with my own. Today, I learned only 5% of everything I/we recycle is actually recycled. What a failure!!

    • @wholeshebang1
      @wholeshebang1 ปีที่แล้ว

      *@Bee Vee* - I was shocked by that, too, and was reminded of my mom, who, in the mid-1970's-'80's, made us bring home our _plastic sandwich bags_ from school, so she could rinse and dry them out, to be used again. She said it was to save money. Part of it was being thrifty, as she grew up poor, but it was also a waste to use them once and toss them.
      I've never bought sandwich bags, don't accept the free, flimsy, plastic shopping bags, and don't buy green garbage bags, because for 25 years, we've had city-provided *garbage, recycling and compost bins.* I mainly have glass (jars), food cans, and cardboard and plastic food packaging to recycle. I have a *compost pile* out back for my garden (chicken & fish bones go in city compost bin), and rarely have even a _handful_ of *garbage* per week. I can bring my own containers to the bulk store. I'm getting my *garden ready* to grow some herbs and vegetables.
      ___________________________
      I'm not a big consumer. I wear vintage and shop at thrift stores, except for a few new pieces a couple of times a year. I still wear some clothing, shoes and jewellery that I had in my 20s, 30s (now vintage), 40s and 50s.
      I use _fabric bags_ for shopping, as well as 2 large panniers (made from recycled plastic banners) on my bicycle for grocery and other shopping. I hate that so much produce is pre-packaged in plastic clamshells, bags or shrink-wrap & styro trays. 😠 I reuse plastic mesh bags from oranges for buying fruit & veg. Farmers markets have loose produce.
      I haven't owned a car since 1983, and rarely use public transit - my 13-year-old mountain bike takes me almost everywhere I want to go, and I fix it myself. I carpool for the rare trip out of town.
      ___________________________
      I've wholly embraced the first of the "3 Rs" - _Reduce_ - the most, so I _limit_ what comes into my home. The odd time I buy takeout, it's only from places that don't use styrofoam or plastic containers (black plastic isn't recycled here) or I bring my own. I'm so glad our city in Canada, has recently banned styrofoam takeout containers and plastic cutlery (for takeout). Everything must be *_compostable,_* including cutlery (bamboo is great). I've been carrying my own cutlery for decades.
      ___________________________
      Like Darin's late father, I also have *MCS/ES - Multiple Chemical Sensitivities/Environmental Sensitivities,* so I've been using *_natural, unscented_*_ grooming_ and _cleaning products_ (some homemade, i.e. mix vinegar & baking soda as a surfectant, or "steep" vinegar & citrus peels for a week & use as a spray) for 30+ years. I get instantly *sick* - with _burning eyes & throat, hoarseness, nausea, headache,_ etc - when walking or cycling past *laundromats* or *homes* when laundry's being done - even people's *clothing* _off-gases toxic chemicals._ Fumes from vape pens, (tobacco & cannabis) make me sick from the *PEG (polyethylene glycol)* and sickly-sweet "flavours" used in them, and I *can't tolerate* _tobacco smoke, car exhaust, paint, new rugs, MDF furniture, asphalt,_ and the list goes on. *_Sigh!_*
      There are *80,000 patented chemicals* in the world. *_Petroleum products_* are ubiquitous yet there are *_non-toxic alternatives._* *"Big Oil"* doesn't like *_challenges_* to its *near-monopoly* in so many products including fuel, though *corn-based writing pens* and "plastic" *bags* have been available since the '90's - they cost a bit more initially - like all things do, until they catch on. There's even *hemp fuel* that cars can run on.
      ___________________________
      Same with *_hemp,_* which has been used on ships (ropes, sails), and as *fabric* for centuries - but was demonized and *criminalized* in 1937 due to _pushback_ by the US's massive *_cotton industry_* because of the _psychoactive effect_ of *_cannabis_* when smoked - though _hemp_ has negligible (.03%) amounts of THC in it (it has CBD). It was even called _The _*_Marihuana_*_ Tax Act_ (not *Cannabis* Act) to stigmatize *Mexicans,* who were scapegoated for exporting it to the USA. We *humans,* as well as other _mammals, birds, fish & reptiles,_ naturally have *cannabinoid receptors* in our brains and bodies.
      ___________________________
      I'm going to read *Darin Olien's book* and watch the *_Down To Earth_* series with him and Zac Efron, to *gain more knowledge, advocate* for *better regulations* (i.e. the perfume industry is *_self-regulated!),_* and share this info in the *MCS/ES online groups* I'm in.
      *_Thank you, Cesar,_* for having this informed guest on, discussing how to become healthier, and to _clean up_ and _protect_ our *beautiful planet.* 🌎 I like the new direction your show is taking. _Bravo!_

    That you so much for passing this on. IF anything plastic is recycled, and much is not, it must have a 1 or 2 in the little triangle on the bottom. Anything else it is just lip service so people will think it is being recycled when it is not. It ends up in a landfill. Try to buy glass, cardboard or metal whenever possible. That has the best chance of being recycled. YOU are helping us to train our new pups!

    • @stellangios
      @stellangios ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My local recycling plant is totally up front that the triangle with ANY number is allowed (they used to only take some numbers) and no food covered products, no plastic bags (there's another place for those to be recycled) and no shredded paper. The problem is people dump so much garbage into their recycling bins and no one ever piles it at their door with a note, no one ever corrects them anymore. They are too lazy to check what is wanted and unwanted. People have to find out what is wanted in their specific area.

    • @wholeshebang1
      @wholeshebang1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, people can usually check with their city's waste management services *_online,_* as to what is and isn't recyclable - which can change, depending what infrastructure their facilities have. In my city, each December, the city sends a calendar with pick-up schedule and items that are recyclable and compostable - yet I still see old, wood-framed *_windows_* and *_mirrors_* and *_bike wheels with tires_* in the recycling bins. SMH! 😐

    Yes....yes....time to turn our thinking away from convenience to better thought out ways to live. Human invents but the thought about what thst invention creates may not be good for the human or earth after the fact. We do need to slow down and think without greed becoming the main force! That has always been a major issue! Hoping our young ones can be guided towards what is good for HUMANITY rather than totally looking at the bottom line!

    I agree with Darin and what he says about all the chemicals that we are surrounded with. My skin can't stand all these synthetic fabrics while it's getting so difficult to find cotton, silk and linen clothing, it's mostly mans' t-shirts and socks that are made out of cotton, even if it's not 100% cotton it's better than the "pretty" shirts for women... so I'm not dressed very feminine and no I don't like it.
    What depresses me every day is the CHEMTRAILS (worldwide), every single day I come outside and have to look at a sky with those repulsive straight lines and the white haze = aluminum particles they spray - every day for many decades already. The "cocktail" they spray also contains barium, strontium, lithium, spores, funghi and more. Have your soil and water tested and see for yourselves.
    There is much more going on but I'll leave it at this. Have a wonderful day, hugs from Belgium.

    Really interesting until that guy started talking all that vegan tosh. Our bodies cannot do the same thing turning plants into energy that the animals we eat can. And eating just plants doesn't remove death; plants also experience death and stress etc, the soil dies too from constant monoculture planting to produce enough to feed humans (since unlike cows we cannot just eat grass, unlike chickens we refuse to mostly eat insects) and wildlife dies from loss of habitat and violent death in the harvesting machines, death by pesticide. You can have sustainable safe farming that includes both animals and plants, it is the best most balanced way. You can even encourage wildlife when raising animals for food. It doesn't have to be the trigger happy rancher or the horrible factory farm. Supporting good farming takes more away from factory farming than just switching to plants and removing yourself from the market. You will see so many statistics that say how much easier it is to produce this pound of edible plants v this pound of meat, but they compare the best possible situation of plant growing to the worst of meat. And ignore that a pound of meat is so much more energy. But I agree we should eat less meat as a country by not supporting factory farming and paying more to eat correctly produced meat. Still, the misinformation of the vegan ideology will only pollute our ability to make good decisions and slow us from supporting what is truly natural and effective in feeding ourselves and rewilding our world.
