Yeah this is probably the first video I found where the guy DOES NOT read the entire Brochure to you before even gently driving through puddles. THANK YOU
I rented one of these, nearly identical to this, and drove the outer banks in it. It was great in the sand, until it wasn't. No one told me to let the air out of the tires until I got stuck (high centered) just south of beach access ramp 43. The local who mercifully pulled me out told me to remember that "this is the softest sand on the outer banks." The frustrating part is that after the tires dug holes as deep as they could, they just stopped turning altogether. The computer was trying to figure out which wheel to turn, and since they all slipped, it just stopped trying. I feel like I might have gotten out a little sooner and saved myself some of the experience of being a huge spectacle. Again, it performed well with fully inflated tires on Ocracoke, and a couple places near Hatteras. I was in North Carolina for a week and put 1300 miles on that little Jeep. Took to calling it Little Buddy. I was a little sad when I turned it in at RDU.
I had a 2012 Compass...loved it...well I rolled it ex this winter...thanks to the safety features on this vehicles...I walked away with just a bump on my head...I bought another Compass bc I do believe it saved me from serious injuries.
Thanks for another cool video, I think everyone really appreciates that you drive these on your own course instead of manufacturer-prepared course (which are made to NEVER stress any system on any tested car). And yea, it's pretty unfortunate that Jeep didn't bother to add extra cooling system for transmission/transfer case, even for Trailhawk model.
sdfasdfvccvvc If they intend for this vehicle to used in harsh off road conditions, they should have built the awd transfer clutch into the transmission so it has use of all the trans fluid for cooling instead of the little amount able to be held in the rear differential.
I am on the market for a crossover but need the absolute best off road capability i can get out of a smaller crossover sized SUV.. So far Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk has all my attention
That is a huge body on frame true SUV.. I just want a crossover with decent off road prowess like the Cherokee had.. The Cherokee has a rear locker too... Also, my husband currently has a 2019 4Runner TRD OR lol.. I live in the Pacific northwest a several hours north of Vancouver surrounded by mountains in high country.. My daily commutes are dirt roads and skechy trails lol
@@CarQuestion I ended up getting a 4Runner myself!.. The roads here in Northern British Columbia frequently break vehicles.. However, my husbands 4Runner was always proving unbreakable, which inspired me to want get a 2020 TRD Off Road
DirectX3, if the driver put proper tyres, there wouldn't have been slippage and the car wouldn't have found any problems. Slipping the torque converter for minutes overheats it. It's a phisics limit.
Its horrible how the system cuts off 100% of power in sticky situations. Basically u floor it and no wheels are turning. Is it any different if you turn off TC/ESP or can you actually fully turn this systems off? Cause by click of a button its partially off only.

Great video... I have alot of mud ( when rain) did you feel it could handle it well? And I heard about some issues around the electrical system.. or it's only a few cases? And it's not having locked differential, did you feel it lacked ?
I have a 2017 Jeep latitude, I take it on my muddy and sandy trails in Arizona, seeing a most mud I encounter is made up of clay it handles extremely well and I’ve never gotten stuck. There was once I kinda got stuck in sand but I just had to switch from “sand” to “mud” and it worked out fine . Just have to remember it’s not lifted, so you’ll probably end up getting stuck from trying to pass something it can’t reach
Wow that's quite alarming that the 4wd system/trans overheated! In a Jeep no less! That would be a deal breaker for me if I were considering buying this.
so this is the second video i`ve seen where the new compass doesnt do well in low speed while in sand. other than the sand problem it seems to be a mini range rover
My husband is 6' 1" and has ample room driving this. with the seat all the way back he can fully extend his legs. He has a Grand Cherokee and the room is about the same. Compass is a very comfy little Grand Cherokee.
Mohan Punia Yes, you're right. But in the Arab countries we dont care about the type of tires we care about lowering the air pressure at air and our things are good
On-road ride quality of Compass Trailhawk(off-road variant) is better than Compass limited 4*4 Actual my Compass limited 4*4 sucks On-road ride quality 😭😣😢
Jerry Lee I'm in Canada, and it's done fairly well on road, I've taken it offroad in snow a bit and it has also done pretty well. I did get stuck once, but I was able to drive myself out. I wouldn't drive it in heavy snow more than ankle deep.

the 4x4 system is ok, the rest of the vehicle is not this vehicle is among the most warranty repairs in north america, read the reports, plagued with electrical problems, bad noise and vibration rattles, squeaks,i will drive a Subaru any day over this, it has the proven history of reliability ,economy, safety, build quality, and awd system, maybe this one slightly out does it and a Cross Trek is not in the same category as this Jeep Compass. The Subaru will be on the road for 10 years longer than the Compass ,simple fact.
The Jeep Compass competes with the Subaru Forester, while the Jeep Renegade competes with the Subaru XV Crosstrek. I have taken a Subaru Forester Offroad, and have extensively tested it under harsh conditions in both off-road use and Uphill Mountain Pass driving. For the Forester, the weakness is how prone the CVT is to overheating. However, the all wheel drive system has proven to be quite reliable.
yeah i had a 2018 subaru Forester CVT and it sucked! it had problems all the time it gave me a headache! It also suffer with loss of torque electrical problems as well at the end it was a lemon the dealership offer to trade my Forester for a high trim model and also you guessed it another down payment with extra fee . i now own a 2019 Subaru Forester Touring
So how can you call this trail rated when you can not even get a real trail tire for it? Don't get much response from jeep. they just say we will void your warranty if you put a bigger tire on it. 1500 miles on my 2018 trailhawk and I am ready to get rid of it. This CAR is for trail rides.......Paved bicycle trails.
the patriot looks like a mini commander - 'some' lines --------- this compass is as k-mart and generic japan suv looking as it gets !thumbs way down on looks
dude thank you for getting to the offroading without a long boring ass description. awesome vid!!!!!!
Glad you like it!
@@CarQuestion we al loved it dude

One of the best jeep offroad test on youtube! As a jeep owner I find your videos extremely useful to set the 4wd system the best way
When driving offroad, always turn traction control off. Driving with traction control on, it can get you stuck, and it limits your rpm.

The sand testing course is great! Hope to see more of this in the future.
This car is rally good I have drove many car but this one is awesome
Looking to switch my coupe to an inexpensive suv. This is definitely on my list of options
The Compass gives another above average perfomance for its segment. If only the rest of the vehicle were so impressive.
Thanks for another cool video, I think everyone really appreciates that you drive these on your own course instead of manufacturer-prepared course (which are made to NEVER stress any system on any tested car).

Great SUV with excellent capability 🔥🔥🔥
The 2018 Jeep Compass Trailhawk when on Sand mode lt collects all the torque so it does not get stuck
love your offroad videos guys.. less words more real life scenarios and true capability testing!! Keep it up!
Would love to see Rock mode tested on this sand as well
I keep imagining how good this Jeep would be with the new 2.0t or the 3.2 v6 out of the Cherokee
yup. I would consider Compass if not for the engine
why are you editing the video when car stuck on the sand. let us know what happened after that. how did you take it from the sand when it stuck?
what time code are you referring?
@3:44 for example
Thanks for your sharing! It's very useful to me

Which ESC Off mode did you have it in? There are two ‘off’ modes.
too long ago, don't remember sorry
awesome, can't wait for the next vid! keep them going.
Why did 4WD become unavailable at the end? Did something failed?
Clutch pack overheated.
very clear test drive. I am impressed.

Thank you man for your video. your driving mood just like the Arab mood driving in the desert.
How come you didn't test the Renegade Trailhawk - it has more ground clearance and a bit lighter. Better off-roader in my view,
Pro: off road capabilities
Con: unreliable

+tinker1148 There is no transfert case, so the system protect itself

tinker1148 because the dumb ads behind the wheel had it in 4 low

He has traction control on that's why
@@donaldwilliams1634 thats good to hear. I would choose a compass over a renegade, but for a little more i would just bump up to a grand cherokee
Yeah they are awesome off-road but any time you are in 4 low make sure traction control is off
Two takeaways - use sand mode on sand, and fit At tyres!!
Lol I work on those for a living, bought a 21' Subaru crosstrek.

An imbortant information if you drive your car in the sand you should name the tire pressure

which colour is that ??????? please reply Car Question
What you would say for the first year you wrote and 2019? The first year you wrote isn't about 2019
Petrol or diesel????
Petrol
Good Test are done on ski mountains, not on flat dry sandy land.
On ski hills, you will meet a lot of tough conditions for RVs.
What colour is that?
am looking forward to if you know it by now please let me know by commenting back thanks

rolled a few meters and it came back
it's a safe mode when you abuse of the 4x4 or the trans overheat
where did you do this?
Sounds like it barely has enough power to get out of its way. I will keep my 04 Liberty with low range transfer case, even with 165k miles on it.
I have an AWD Duster,it finishes 150000kms, can I upgrade to Jeep compass are trailhawk which one to choose

is this a re-skinned Fiat 500?
No. That would be the Jeep Renegade.
Can u give me this jeep used for off-road test 😀. That much I love the colour.
beauport hood 😎👌
Those street tires don't help
I think jeep needs 2.4 "Turbo" new engine
The renegade refresh introduced a new 1.3t engine and made the 2.4 standard, the compass will surely get it since it's on the same platform
