Do we really need a Zelda move? What the heck are you talking about EMOTIONAL DAMAGE
I understand why everyone has questions about the movie being live action and not animated, but honestly, there's a lot they can lean into in games like OoT, TP, and SS in terms of story. LoZ is high fantasy action adventure at its core, but it also has a lot of themes about coming of age and overcoming one's failures, so there's no shortage of things to work with. As far as live action capturing that "feel", while the series is produced by a Japanese company, earlier games in the franchise also take a lot of inspiration from Western fantasy, like the original LoZ concept art inspired by LotR, and the Master Sword being a clear callback to Arthurian legend. I feel like a lot of fans of BotW think the series should only have a film adaptation if it's a Ghibli style anime, which I understand, but I think is misguided. For me, what really defines the LoZ "feel" is how it combines Western and Japanese themes into a high fantasy story, which I feel would be seriously lacking if it went full-on anime. As far as Link talking, he already has dialogue in the options you choose in the text boxes, and it makes sense, since he has been given more backstory and personality in recent games, and is no longer simply the "blank slate" he was back in the early days. I agree that I wouldn't want any of the cast to be celebrities like Jack Black, but I think there are plenty of actors who could pull off a convincing Link.
Honestly raking my brains at what actor could play the happy mask salesman if hes even in it
Adaptations aren’t supposed to capture the magic of the og they’re designed to create a brand new magic for new audiences
Shanarrah chronicles and legend of the seeker are the closest to live action Zelda we have until the movie
Take elements of each game and craft an original origin story like Mario movie did that’s what I think will happen
This is something no one has asked but will the movie be added to the Zelda timeline
The way the Zelda series works I think adaptations could be included but maybe they wanna keep it only for games idk let’s see how it does
TP is so cinematic it basically is a movie lol. I feel like that one could easy me be made into a triology or tv show
The ending with Ganondorf showing up would be peak cinema as well
This doesn’t really have to do with this video, but why did you remove the lets play videos of skyward sword? I was looking forward to watching that series.
It just wasn’t fitting with what I wanted to do with my videos, I think in the future I’d love to do a playthrough channel, but I think I want to stick to more video essays than anything else!
@@thezeldarealm Understandable, if you do create a playthrough channel that would be awesome. I would definitely subscribe 👍
I was also wondering where the videos had gone. Keep up the good work ✨
Appreciate that thank you!
Link should use sign language
He does talk in game, they just didn’t give him a physical voice(unless you could Wind Waker when he’s says “come on”), he does talk but very rarely
Princess Mononoke is the closest thing we will get to a Zelda movie.
I think the Zelda movie will be closer lol
Am I the only one who thinks that Tom Holland and Emma Watson look nothing like Link and Zelda?
No I totally agree with you on that one 😂
Need? We don't need any movies, movies aren't imperative to survival no one needs any movie
Trust Nintendo
I think they should cast an actor who embodies the character’s qualities like being brave compassionate selfless etc rather than any specific ethnicity
Zelda movie should use legend of the seeker or shannarah chronicles or any Camelot stories as a blueprint not lord of the rings
It’ll be an amalgamation skyward sword esque origin story that’s also an original story is my take
Here me out what if the Zelda movie is about linkle rather than link she would probably be an easier character to adapt since she doesn’t come with all the expectations and pressure of getting link right
No one would really care about how linkle is portrayed since people don’t really care about her so it’s less stressful to adapt because she’s a blank slate they can mold for the movie also she talks
I can see Nintendo going this direction to avoid controversy
Legend of Zelda is more comparable to King Arthur mythology which a lot have great adaptations that they can use as inspiration
The fact that this was being planned the whole time explains why the mario movie didn’t have Zelda Easter eggs
Does that imply that all of the Nintendo ip that were referenced are gonna be stuck with universal and the ones that weren’t acknowledged are free agents?
It’s live action because it’s gonna be a more mature movie that’s the speculation
Also I trust Nintendo
Miyamoto has been working on this movie since 2013 that’s longer than even the mario movie tells you all you need to know at how dedicated miyamoto is to this
They picked the people they picked because they want people that can be controlled
Wes ball seems like a Zelda fan tho in 2010 he said he wants to do a Zelda movie in the style of James Cameron’s avatar
As for the speaking situation
Make link canonically deaf and have him communicate using ASL throughout the movie
Problem solved
It’ll be an original story that’s an amalgamation of every game like the mario movie did
Most likely
Nintendo for their ip seem to be follow the stigma that animation is for all ages and live action is more mature
Either that or they are just doing what they want for each project
Tom Blyth Or Robbie Kay or Milo manheim or Austin butler or Edward bluemel for older link
Walker scobel for younger link
Florence Pugh or Melissa Barrera or grace van dien or Emily bader for older Zelda
McKenna grace for younger Zelda
Hugh Hackman or Oscar Isaac or Henry cavil for ganondorf
Even Vincent d’onfrio as ganondorf play him like it similar to kingpin he would kill it
Akwafina as Navi
Taylor swift as Zelda is my joke pick but I see the Vision
Patrick Stewart as deku tree
Zendaya as Urbosa
Vincent dnofrio as Daruk
Tom Holland as prince Sidon
Tom Hiddleston as rivali
Angelina Jolie as midna
Y’all love to cherry-pick and use avi as a scapegoat as if there aren’t other people working on those movies that have more creative control than him
because that would have been too safe which was a common criticism of the mario movie that it was safe
Nintendo loves to take risks and experiment with different styles
Why is this any different
TRUST NINTENDO
the phases of production, an average Hollywood studio movie from beginning of development to the end of post-production typically takes around 4 to 5 years
Keep in mind in 2010 Wes ball tweeted he wants the next movie that’s like James Cameron’s avatar to be Zelda
We don’t know whether or not his vision has changed since then tho
DEREK DID NOT WRITE THE FINAL MOVIE FOR RISE OF SKYWALKER YES HE WROTE A SCRIPT BUT THATS NOT THE SCRIPT THEY USED
Detective Pikachu is a masterpiece and clearly having had experience working with a Nintendo ip miyamoto felt comfortable with Derek
animation is too safe people wanted Nintendo to take bigger risks that was a criticism of the mario movie that it was too safe
I applaud them for taking risks and experimenting with different styles for each ip
For a composer maybe Phil Collins or John Williams or bring Bryan Tyler back
