Thanks for this extensive and very appreciative review of several Allie Sherlock covers from different years! You asked for Allie's musical examples. These are definitely Ed Sheeran and especially Adele. Allie has covered more or less all songs of Adele, and she does really great in this. Covers like "Set Fire To The Rain", "Love In The Dark", "Skyfall", "Million Years Ago" are utterly beautiful. You also asked, why Allie is still busking. Well, she built her career up to now by busking, because she loves the interaction with her audience. And we fans love the opportunity to encounter her on Grafton Street and maintain a personal contact with her and her dad Mark who is her manager. Allie has released up to now four albums - three are just covers, one is half covers and half originals. Allie has written around 80 beautiful original songs (see the playlist on her TH-cam), and she is currently busy recording an album with merely her originals in collaboration with other musicians in a studio in London.

I guess you never go on the internet, Allie Sherlock indeed appeared on Series 12 of Britain’s Got Talent. She auditioned for the show in 2017 and received positive reviews from the judges for her performance

Allie just makes people happy and if you had the privilege of watching this star grow up on the streets of Dublin you witnessed true vocal art . Always using her natural voice with slips here and there makes her more appreciated. Hearing her guitar squeak on the strings with her fingers is wonderful. Turning down every major studio and opening her own production company takes guts. Go for it Allie
Allie is just fantastic! I've been following her since she was 13 and am repeatedly blown away by her extraordinary talent. She caught the attention of Ryan Tedder of the band One Republic very early on in her busking career. She periodically travels to LA to collaborate with him. She even opened for him on one of the band's concert tours and I read that he sometimes joined her on stage. It's always gratifying to hear genuine praise for her from others in the musical field. Allie Sherlock in my opinion is absolutely amazing!!! I’ve been watching her for a very long time. She has grown up in front of the camera and has improved nicely over time. She has a fantastic voice and plays guitar and piano really well. She busks just about every weekend on Grafton Street in Dublin Ireland. I’m glad you enjoyed her singing and hope you continue to react to Allie Sherlock!!!

What do get when Real hits all the social media platforms, you get the Amazing World of Allie Sherlock ! There’s that song from the 60’s “ The Times Are A Changin “ and Allie and her dad are in charge of the current change ! I always get a kick when I see in the comments in Allie videos that she should go on talent shows or get signed by a record label , that’s what’s changing, as Allie and her dad have proven, you don’t have to go down that traditional route anymore ! I also like to call Allie the full package, amazing voice , beautiful guitarist, and very importantly amazing warm personality which always shine through when Allie flashes AAS ! AAS, is Amazing Allie Smile ! I mentioned Real in the beginning of this comment, and Allie’s live performances are those Real moments that people appreciate, and you get to see in real time the crowds reaction and interactions with Allie ! Another comment I see occasionally about Allie, well she is just a Busker or a pub singer, but all these years she has been singing live on the street has made Allie the Amazing Artist and Young Lady we see today ! I believe other than Allie’s amazing talent it’s that personal connection we get with her videos that you don’t get in all those mix & mastered studio and production videos that make her so popular!I’m not sure what paths down the road Allie will chose, but I love right now she has chosen to stay true to her busking roots ! 🎤🎸🎼
Allie Sherlock is the consummate professional. Sometimes she's tired. Sometimes she's sick. Sometimes she probably sad or hurt. I've been watching her videos for 4 years now. At no time have I seen her being nothing more than a performer for the crowd in the street. Always the smile, always the look. Always the voice. Always the guitar. So much talent. So few songs.
I love the way she is confident and resilient ❤
She has done some amazing songs at many times and every so often the same song may be not quite so good but still brilliant. She sings in the street with no acoustics or studio perks or air temperature to enhance what she does. She is quite an astonishingly good singer.

Allie is my favourite artist, ahead of Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift - maybe she’ll never get to be a superstar - but wherever she goes she brings joy.
There are far better singers than Billie, and Taylor. And others. But there are certain barriers/ walls , that will separate them from ever becoming great or big/ popular like Taylor and Billie. It’s his the market is..
@user-rz4wz4my1f It makes a huge difference that T and B, are American and both WANTED fame. Allie clearly is not hungry for that, and I understand does not wish to leave Ireland, so her happiness comes from a different place. Many of the Irish musicians and actors feel the same: there's the work they love which can bring recognition, and then there's personal life which is private ☘️
I am so grateful this video has landed in my feed. I'm a long time fan of Allie's but also someone who has "taking vocal lessons", on her bucket list. Now I've found the person I would want to take those lessons with. Great job explaining the mechanics behind the beautiful sounds produced by this incredibly talented woman.
You watch some of the songs she does with Cuan Durkin, the chemistry between them is amazing.

Happened to catch Allie on Ellens show. Lost her till 2022 as a post came across my Insta page. Even thogh i am not musically inclined at all, its easy to recognize a tremendous voice, talent & range. Nothing but great wishes for success to her.

There‘s no 2nd chance for a 1st impression… and your impression was absolutely 100% right. Allie Sherlock‘s strong voice also impressed me right away when I heard her for the first time. She must have been 14 or 15 and it was in a duet with Irish busker Cuan Durkin (he’s got a tenor voice) when both sang Perfect by Ed Sheeran - she in English and he in Italian! She not only has a very clear and powerful voice, she surely has mastered her personal trauma as a 9-year old child by busking on Grafton Street.
One thing you said about her voice, I also noticed. When she was younger, between 14-17, her voice was more than brilliant, it was outstanding. It still is, but sometimes it sounds as if she‘s got a cold. You explained it much better!
Anyway, she‘ll go her way, let‘s see what the future will bring 🍀
Oh, and try to listen to these impressive songs of her: Unchained Melody and Shallow - both as duet with Cuan. Masterpieces!!! And the newest one One Life - really, really superb!

Allie and her dad drive by road nearly 300 kilometres each way between her home in Cork on the coast in the south of Ireland and the city of Dublin on the coast in the west on most weekends of the year for the last seven years to perform for two days busking on the famous Grafton Street for two 1-hour sessions each day. She most often sings solo with just her guitar but regularly mixes it up doing duets with other buskers, she also did many sessions with a band (The 3 Busketeers) for a couple of years until they broke up sadly.
Allie is amazing !!! She has over 1000 videos posted on her TH-cam channel. The second video where she sings the Elton John song is by no means anywhere near here best. I think vocally her peak was between the age of 14 and 16. Check out her performances in those years and i think you will see what I mean. That would be 2019, 2020 and 2021. Don't get me wrong, I still think she is a great singer with a great future. Allies mom died when she was only nine years old and Allie then went to live with her dad as her parents were divorced. Allie at the age of 12 was on the Ellen show in the USA and was signed by Ryan Tedder of One Repulic when she was like 13 years old. Allie went on tour with One Republic when she was 14 years old. The tour covered several countries including, England, France and the Netherlands. Videos of her performing on tour is out there on youtube as well. Great review and i hope you continue doing lots more reviews of Allie because there's lots to see and hear.

I have been watching Allie on YT for a number of years now. I am not a singer or vocal coach so I don’t pick up on the nuances and technical details however I love her voice and do not understand why she is not signed to any record company. As far as I know she is self taught and sings regularly on this corner of the street in Dublin. She could be considered one of Dublin’s tourist attractions. I am glad you have discovered her.

When I was last in Dublin (2017) I heard her singing from half way up the street. Powerhouse voice. She's a regular in Grafton St. and has only gotten better since then ☘️
You ask who she might be listening to as regards the vocal style that connects yodel-like harmonic register shifts to phrasing and also the phrase endings that clip in the way that she does. I think these may derive from fairly classic Irish female singing and folk music. Other Irish popular music singers do related kinds of stylist interpretations. I can’t think of names at this moment, sorry, but the one I can think of is the Cranberries. In the particularly harrowing song Zombies, it is exaggerated and becomes truly dramatic and tragic. Stunning really. Different that Allie, but it is essentially from the same stylistic pallet and it is just really a derived Irish music form. I would point that Irish flute players also do this. I think it’s a wonderful device and articulation that “brands” Irish music and Allie Sherlock beautifully and skillfully captures the use of it in her way.
Hi! I was lucky enough to meet Allie on Grafton Street when I was in Dublin for a weekend. I was hoping that she would be there, as she usually is, every Saturday. She is amazing and so charming too. Thank you for this lovely singing lesson. I love to sing (in the car) and I recently began pilates classes and have found that the breathing exercices I do in pilates are helping me with my breathing whilst singing.

If you(the vocal coach) want to get a better feel for her timbre,vibrato and phrasing, please check out her recent YT video covers of'Set Fire to the Rain' and "Winner Take All"(by Abba) For an 18 year old, all of these above mentioned vocal qualities are just superb. Allie is a great ,young vocal talent with a stunning voice And she'll only get better,IMO.

After listening to her, I came across another young girl singer, brilliant, who can also great piano,
guitar and writes and arranges some of her own songs along with many covers!
Her name is Emily Linge, at now only 16yrs old, has plenty of issues to choose from.

exactly Peter... it was when Allie really started to "perform" as she really liked to....too bad it was then that she and the band got shut down when covid hit Ireland....but carried on doing live streams from home so we got to know her and her Dad more on a personal level.

Your watching all the wrong videos of Allie to make a valid judgement of the talent this young lady has - watch her singing: Reckless, Beggin', What's Up: California - her own song - Back to Black: Unchained Melody and What I Was Made For - as well as Stay and you may just get an idea of the sheer versatility and talent of this amazing young lady....love it if you saw these and then told us what you think then...Allie is a girl who, when the moment is right, finds something other singers can't - that's what her fans love - and that's why she still busks where the chemistry of live raw performance brings her alive...
You've made a few assumptions
We all are fans of Allie but you don't need to defend her and dismiss the feedback from a vocal coach. Serious musicians WANT feedback as it only improves their skills.
I absolutely love her breathy onsets and end of phrases, such a powerful voice , sounds almost Billie Eilish in places. Goosbump moments. Why is she not more mainstream.
Right now Allie has chosen to pursue her career different from most young singers today ! Because Allie is a Busker it allows her to do something those other young artist under contract can’t do, drop content minutes after she performs, and that keeps Allie out in front of her fans and gets her new fans ! In the past you wanted to get signed to a record label to get exposure to the world, Allie has that. Distribute your music, Allie does that by selling her CD’s and USB sticks when she performs and online, plus she is dominating all the social media platforms ! The last one is concert and tours, which Allie and her dad have managed to address also ! She does live streams on TH-cam, Instagram , and TikTok , so not only does she have her large audience watching her live on the street, she has Thousands watching on social media, you can’t get a bigger venue then the World 🌎 stage ! I realised that I, Inadvertently, start tapping my foot, wiggle or start grooving, when Allie sings. There are even songs that I've known for decades but I've been listening for the very first time to the lyrics, when Allie covers the song (e.g. Jen Rush Power of love / Queen Bohemian rhapsody, Gloria G I will survive')

I believe Ryan Tedder mediated on line 1-2-1 voice coaching for Allie by Robert “RAab” Stevenson, to help her control her very powerful voice.
You will find that Allie covers many genres of music from Etta James, through the common busking favourites, right up to the present day. Personally, I would avoid the covers with the very highest views, as some of her best work in my view has slipped under the TH-cam algorithms (they still huge viewing numbers) for example Tom Petty Free Fallin or Adele - Easy on me.
A good cover from a vocal coach perspective (still has 5.3 million views!).

As you mentions she are a very famous busker, but there are at least one young busker that have even more followers and that is Karolina Protsenko...she is also an amazing busker and artist, mainly playing violin but also a pretty good singer. She is now 15 years old and also playing guitar and piano.
There are a few videos of Allie busking with 11 year old Karolina in Santa Monica when Karolina was 11 and Allie was 14. Beautiful stuff, but they've both come a long way since then. Allie has almost 6million social media followers whilst Karolina has 8 million. Both of them are masterful now.

Been following Allie for awhile. This is even more impactful when you learn that Allie's Mom died just 3 years before this. So, consider her Mom's death and then watch this again and listen to the words.
I don't believe at the time of the first video you showed that Allie had had a single voice lesson.That happened just prior to her appearance on the "Ellen Show".
Mark, her father, remarked at the time that it had a tremendous effect on her abilities. Ed Sheeran and Adele were the early favorites of Allie.
I love her... listening to what you are saying, I understand how hard it must be to really be artistically and perfectly controlling your voice when its THAT good. She's learned how to do it herself and is making big bycks at it. Thank you. I wish I had a good voice. I know I will when i stand before the Lord 🙏

@@simonshrouder3476 Good Point. Jacob is a two time invited World Busking Championship participant in South Korea, a Cruise Ship entertainer and a looper trail blazer. Cuan is a world class crooner I consider this century's Frank Sinatra and Saibh has a great recording and performing career going. All the buskers are great. I was mainly referring to how Allie, Mark and Zoe take us on vacation with them, have live sessions, etc. which makes it fun. The Saibh and Naimh Mother/Daughter Q&A sessions are great, too.
@@simonshrouder3476 The voice coach should do an analysis of Cuan Durkin's voice, too if she can as he is receiving advanced level instruction so her breakdown of his voice would be interesting.
I am 69 and have been following Allie since she was 13. She does live recordings of her busking every Saturday and Sunday usually 12pm and 4pm both days
I live in London and hope to go to Dublin for the weekend this summer to see her perform

I have been following Allie for a number of years, I liked her voice several years ago more than now. That's not to say her voice is not good, it is. At that time she would sing very high so often, I was concerned about Allie damaging her vocal cords. Today she doesn't do it so often, has she been advised not to do it!.

I'm not sure who Allie has been influenced by; it's difficult to tell due to the range of songs she sings / can sing. Her Dad is musical (plays guitar and sings) and I believe her Mother was too, but she died when Allie was young. Tragic and another reason we love Allie. I wouldn't be surprised if her mother's voice was an influence.
Her mother was Michelle which is Allie's middle name, and she definitely was amateur singer as there are a number of videos on YT of her singing at pub/club open-mic sessions back when Allie was quite young
Agree 1o0% you need breath control. It controls alot about how a singer sings. You need a good voice too. Allie has that.and you also must project that voice with a sense of confidence :)))

Julie here. Love your review. I think she said she has had like 13 different voice teachers in her lifetime so far. She uses that airiness all the time. I love her voice, but my hubby doesn't. He thinks she belts to much. I hope she sees this review, maybe it could help? Dont know.😊
Watched her videos for years. Same songs can be different on different dats. A lot depends on the weather and her mood. But love her always.
It's difficult to state the age in her videos, seems there tons of reuploads. So the aging to guess; s perhaps hard. Such amazing performer
Allie will turn 19 in about 2 weeks. In her YT channel. The date of the post is usually posted in somewhere in the description.
We all know how good she is , not perfect but lots of power and has great control. But no matter how good you are it takes ore than that to be a success. Great voices and technically correct singer are a dime a dozen. You are the first to find a small fault.But some of the greats have those little differences.

hello coach, id like to ask you if anyone could be taught how to sing well? i cannot sing to save my own life but would love to sing better one day. my voice is generally deeper so singing higher pitch songs is a huge no no in my book..lol.. ive owned a small personal karoake mic set at home so i tried singing in front of my family on occasion and almost every time, my pretty young kids always tells me the truth that i suck..lmao.. by the way, your voice sounds amazing.

In what you've selected your scope of where Allie came from and what she has overcome seems relatively limited. There was a period where Allie would SHOUT into the mic. Perhaps pre voice training, she's come a long way.
