I actually think Paul Walker is the best actor in the Fast and Furious franchise, also Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift takes place between Fast 6 and Fast 7 In chronological order you would go from 2 fast 2 Furious to Fast and Furious 4
The reason they are all mostly civics is because the 90’s and up car scene was seriously based on customizing and tuning the car your parents gave you or what they drove previously, alot of Honda civics were driven by parents and passed to their kids. It was all based off of 80’s and up japanese car tuning, some of those kids dads were hot rodders in the 60’s and 70’s like mine so it was an easy and supported transition. There are certain holy grail cars from those times that are now skyrocketing in value, Supras, Skylines, and RX7’s to name a few. Back before cell phones, it was all word of mouth. Youd hear a rumor of a Wednesday night meetup coming and youd just drive out every Wednesday night of the month until you hit jackpot. All those wednesday nights that a meetup was never found, there were countless light to light street races from other wanderers looking for probably the same meet. It was an awesome time.
If I'm not mistaken, Vin didn't think this movie and his character would take off so he wasn't in line to do a second movie, so Paul did the second one, and then they recast everyone for the third one, but because each movie did so well at the box office, they kept being given the opportunity to keep making more fast movies. By the fourth film Paul and Vin come back, and then by the fifth it just becomes a movie franchise about bringing back every character that they can. By 6, 7, and 8 they bring in bigger actors like the Rock, Jason Statham, and John Cena.
Note for the uninitiated: Just like Star Wars, these movies were not released in chronological order. However UNLIKE Star Wars, the chrono order is actually the best way to watch these movies, so Holden as you continue your journey showing these to Jen, this would be the recommended way to watch them: Start with (1) The Fast and The Furious Next is (2) 2 Fast 2 Furious SKIP 3 Go straight to (4) Fast & Furious Then (5) Fast Five Then (6) Fast & Furious 6 but NOT the post-credit scene yet (it spoils Tokyo Drift) NOW go back to (3) Tokyo Drift Go back to (6) and watch the post-credit scene to get the full context of Tokyo Drift Watch the remainder of the series in release order: (7) Furious Seven, (8) Fate of the Furious, (8.5) Hobbs & Shaw, (9) F9 the Fast Saga, (10) Fast X Edit: Some of them have post-credit scenes but not all, so I'd just stick around for all of them anyways, just in case
@@yuchiachen3075 It really isn't, it's more of a teaser for Seven, if anything. Also I think it sets up unrealistic expectations of what Tokyo Drift is actually about since "THAT actor" 😉😉 isn't even in Drift

@@jkhooverThey liked it more than you’re implying, 7.5 is higher than ‘barely’ liking a movie. They did a similar thing with Star Wars: Rebels which they admit they struggled to get through early on.
"I feel like he did it too soon." Hahahaha You have no idea! That's hilarious. The fact that it becomes a theme throughout the whole movie. That was so funny.
The car meet/racing is a real thing. Used to go to a secluded road in Detroit next to the airport when I was younger. Even people would scramble to leave when cops came.
These movies had a lot of influence for us back in the day living in SoCal. It also still blows me away to this day that I've driven on that highway in the final Semi-Truck scene so many times before realizes that's where they shot it. Always remember the scene every time I'm on it lol
When they’re talking about how cringey the ending was with Brian letting Dom get away, I’m thinking “Did they miss the whole character development with Dom and Brian throughout the film? Like did they miss the garage scene with Dom talking about his Dad? Idk, something about this.
This movie was one of those cultural touchstones that was inescapable when it came out and remains a great time capsule of the early 2000s. The second film is when they started using a lot more CGI with the cars and that continued until the fifth film went back to practical stunts. That’s one of the many reasons Fast Five is usually regarded as the best of the series.
This is a movies series I never thought I'd see you guys react too. That being said, get ready for a wild ride if you continue on through the series. A lot of people hate the direction they took, others love the movies no matter what they do (including me). Can't wait to see Holdens reactions after the 4th movie 😅😅
It took me a while and multiple times watching this movie to come to the realization that the first fast and the furious is a reimagining of the movie Point Break. Instead of surfers, they race cars. It's not until the 2nd movie that it starts to turn into its own thing.
Fun fact a lot of these wide shots showing everyone hanging out and talking were shots they took of the extras while they were off guard the director told everyone to just hang out and chit chat. Also pretty sure everyone is college age in this movie. Just because someone would rather drink a snapple instead of a beer doesn't mean they're in high school 😂
I remember going to see this day one in Theaters, it was quite an event! Huge "fan car show" in the parking lot and the theater was so full people were sitting in the isles just to watch it!
LETS GO! Despite finding every recent fast and furious movie ridiculous, similar to the Transformer movies, i like to turn off my brain and enjoy these movies. Im so glad you're reacting to them 😂
I love Fast & Furious because the movies are such great snapshots of when they were made. They don't start doing full superhero stuff until after Avengers and the superhero movies take off, and then F&F BECOMES a superhero franchise. There's also one rule that I think is hilarious: Bald protagonists of medium to fair skin, cannot lose fights unless bombs, swat, or building wrecking is part of it. It's literally impossible. It's so stupid and I love it.
Bro I just clicked on "oldest" button, to find out what other movies have u reacted to. you started 11 years ago. Dude I freaking loved your journey from then to now. I wish you kept making those monologue kinda videos... I'm so impressed man
23:45 literally in the first minute of the movie it shows that they have people working in the shipping docks giving them information on shipments🤦♂️ if Holden wasn’t making middle school jokes every five minutes then you would understand the plot……
Love the franchise and I’m happy that you guys are giving it a shot! I think you guys will end up actually liking the series. At least up till the 7th movie 😂😂😂
The first 3 movies are so good! I grew up watching the first 2 and I have memorized entire chunks from them! The rest are still a fun time but the story and music in the first 2 is just _chefs kiss_ “Let’s go ahead and get into it cuh!” Holden is such a meme lord I love it 6:55 the actor’s name is Noel G and he actually visited my HS my freshman year and gave a speech and I got to meet him. He’s a really chill and funny dude. Always love seeing him in movies
Man, this was a tough watch. It’s like watching my parents watching a younger generations enjoyment and dogging on it the whole time because they don’t understand it. Smh
One of my favorite things about this franchise is the way they've eventually brought back every single person who's appeared... except for Ja Rule. It just makes me laugh because I vividly remember after this movie came out, he was on some late night show talking about how he and Vin were planning on doing more movies with Dom and Edwin at the center, and then I believe he wanted too much money, so bye bye Ja, hello Luda.
he also dissed Eminems daughter Hailey, and his group at the time (D-12) wrote a diss song about Ja Rule. everyone cut ties with him after eminem shit on him
@@hrios1989 And Luda is laughing all the way to the bank every single day. Holy hell, how rich has that guy gotten off of this franchise because Ja wanted too much money?
Iirc he was gonna be on tour during the time they wanted to shoot and with Vin not coming back for the sequel he decided not to come back. Dude got paid way more for touring and we got Luda haha, would’ve been nice to see him come back in for a cameo. I’m still hoping we see Leon again lol
As you stated you’re both not car people. But keep in mind that the main focus of all the F&F movies was some sort of heist. Cars were just an add on bonus bc of how popular and huge street racing was in the early 2000s where we got video games like Juiced, Midnight Club, NFS underground, etc. I use to think the movies were always racing focused but it really never was 😂 either way the first 3 movies will always be the best with fast five coming 4th
Yea, I think their criticism was out of touch in regard to the street racing scene and the time period that the movie was portraying/was during production.
Btw... as far as I know Dom is in his late 20's, Mia in her early 20's (some people have to learn for college too) and the rest, Bryan, Letty aso are also in their md to late 20's.
Tokyo Drift was by far the best in the entire series. And you probably wouldn't know it was a Fast and Furious film if it didn't say it in the title or if other cameos didn't show up. The action is great, story works pretty well, the music is PHENOMINAL!
@@jkhoover As far as practicality goes it is the best. When you start putting in over the top stunts, you're pulled out of it. The more CGI, the less invested people are. But of course the music. How many of soundtracks to the F&F franchise have Orchestrated musical numbers? And clearly it's a bomb sound track cause Monty Oum uses one of the songs from Tokyo Drift in his Dead Fantasy series. Part 2. Check it out if you haven't. Out of all the Fast and Furious movies, Tokyo Drift seems like the most believable.
Personally it is the one I skip over, I do not think Lucas Black is a very good actor in anything. I love all the NCIS shows except New Orleans just because he is in it.
After the rise in popularity that was back then, "the fast and the furious" and its sequel too fast too furious. Teens specially in the USA and South America, started racing in the streets. Some of them died, due to how fast they were going. Back to the movie. Dom's car in the final scenes of the movie is a modified Doge Charger, while Bryans car is a Toyota Supra.
20:14 - fun fact about that scene My Uncle Frank took me to Neptunes Net for lunch after an interview I had in Ventura. I didn't know it at the time but we were sitting in the same spots as Paul and Vin. I later learned I got the job while watching this movie with my buddy a few days before the seventh (and final Paul) movie came out. My Uncle passed away a few short years later but every time I see this scene, I get to relieve that moment with him. It is a tourist trap now, being shot in so many movies, but if you ever want some good fish tacos and some good cold beer on the beach...look no further. Thanks for the tacos, Uncle. Love you lots
Holden, I'm going to be honest, i I love your reactions more when you're not trying to force jokes every 30 seconds. They're funny when they cone naturally, but too many of them feel forced.
I’m sure someone has already commented this, but at the very beginning of the movie there is an inside man at the docks that tells them over the phone which truck has what so they know which to target.
There is a short film on TH-cam that takes place between this movie and the next about what Brian does when he goes on the run and how he ends up in the location of the next one.
I would recommend watching up to furious 7. The franchise should probably have ended with fast 5 as it has a nice ending that wraps things up but Paul Walker's farewell at the end of the 7th film makes me cry everytime and I really think you should see it.
In the next one, see if you can find the prologue to watch first. It shows what happens to Brian at the end of this one and how he gets to where he is at the start of the next. It's not necessary, but it's a good bit of connecting story.
I was into tuned car's when this movie came out you have no idea how this opened the door to show people street racing! It was huge in the 90s and 2000s!
Just a FYI there’s a mini 7 min movie between this movie and the second one it’s on TH-cam it’s called turbo charged will help make the second one easy to follow
This was one of my best friends favourite movie(s) he was always messing with his dads car when we were growing up, we lost touch over the years but it’s cool to see the videos and photos he posts of the cars he does up and drives now
A little car knowledge for Jen and Holden: Nitrous oxide also known as NOS is typically used during street races because it has the potential to provide a short burst of power to a vehicle. The compound does this by increasing the amount of oxygen present in the engine's cylinders during combustion which produces stronger explosions inside the cylinders and thus more power. Laptops are usually used to reprogram the onboard computer of cars (although not usually while driving it) mainly to tune the engine for more horsepower. Since car manufacturers over-engineer the engines for a longer life and reliability, if you are willing compromise a bit you can extract extra horsepower to a car by doing these things. Hondas are known for their reliability, and the brand itself has a long history in racing. Out of all the cars that you can tune up to "have some fun with" they have been historically one of the most affordable brands. This movie made Mitsubishi Eclipse (the green car from the beginning) a very sough after car for quite a few years after the movie, specially by young men, and catapulted the Toyota Supra (the orange car) as a crowd favorite for modding (modifying it) and make it extremely fast, specially since Toyotas are probably the most reliable Japanese brand in existence. To this day, 20 years old Toyota Supras 4th generation, like the one in the movie, are still highly valued in the use car community, and go for about 40,000 USD; on May 2019 Toyota cashed in on the pedigree of this car, by releasing the new Toyota Supra Mark 5 (although it was a collaboration with BMW and mechanically it is a BMW Z4 with a Toyota designed interior) with many people calling it a cash grab.
Check out 'The Turbo Charged Prelude for 2 Fast 2 Furious' It's a little video on TH-cam and it connects the ending of the 1st one and the beginning of the 2nd one.
Watching this again just shows how it went off the rails later on and was insane. Loved the first 5, wish they would of stopped after 7. Your wife continues to do amazing breakdowns of what she liked and what did not work for her. Terrific watch thankyou both :)
To answer your wife's question in teh beginning this kind of stuff absolutely happened. Every Friday and Saturday night in DFW TX. 200- 400 cars would show up at a few different meeting spots for "Car club" and then after a while we would head out for a cruise to a local industrial area or new construction neighborhood for a night of racing. We had 6 or 7 really good spots and if the cops showed up at any spot it would be a mad scramble to get out and usually the cops just wanted to run people off. Not many tickets were ever given out. We would then head down the road to the next spot in a neighboring town. You would see anything from 150hp Honda Civics to 2000+hp trailer queens showing up to race. 16 y/o kids to 60+ y/o men. This was a major part of my life from like 19 - 30.
fun fact if you ever go race at the track like you have to notify them if you have NOS so when the race start the person who don't have NOS gets a head start
Fun Fact Race Wars an Actual Thing where they show off their cars And I really enjoyed your reaction and hilarious seeing you both trying guess if people do this lol
I know this is an old reaction but here in Sydney, Australia, these events did happen in the early 00s. We called them 'the runs' and we would get 100-150 cars out in an Industrial area in a place called Ingleburn racing their cars. I remember one guy who came with a fan filled the speakers and subs, bad quality sound but funny. The cars rarley looked as tricked up as these but the events happened. SMS was powerful. That was the closest thing to social media for most of us lol.

Note for the uninitiated:
Just like Star Wars, these movies were not released in chronological order. However UNLIKE Star Wars, the chrono order is actually the best way to watch these movies, so Holden as you continue your journey showing these to Jen, this would be the recommended way to watch them:
Start with (1) The Fast and The Furious
Next is (2) 2 Fast 2 Furious
SKIP 3 Go straight to (4) Fast & Furious
Then (5) Fast Five
Then (6) Fast & Furious 6 but NOT the post-credit scene yet (it spoils Tokyo Drift)
NOW go back to (3) Tokyo Drift
Go back to (6) and watch the post-credit scene to get the full context of Tokyo Drift
Watch the remainder of the series in release order: (7) Furious Seven, (8) Fate of the Furious, (8.5) Hobbs & Shaw, (9) F9 the Fast Saga, (10) Fast X
Edit: Some of them have post-credit scenes but not all, so I'd just stick around for all of them anyways, just in case
Yeah they should definetly do it like this 🙏
I'd say the post-credit scene of 6 is a nice teaser for 3, makes you want to watch it more imo
@@yuchiachen3075 It really isn't, it's more of a teaser for Seven, if anything. Also I think it sets up unrealistic expectations of what Tokyo Drift is actually about since "THAT actor" 😉😉 isn't even in Drift
They barely even liked this movie, you really think they're going to put that much effort into it? Just watch the release order, it doesn't matter enough.
@@jkhooverThey liked it more than you’re implying, 7.5 is higher than ‘barely’ liking a movie. They did a similar thing with Star Wars: Rebels which they admit they struggled to get through early on.
The jokes are always unexpected Holden, but always appreciated 😂
Not even a third if the way through and this is already the greatest reaction to this movie I've ever seen. "You need to go to church" killed me🤣
"I feel like he did it too soon." Hahahaha You have no idea! That's hilarious. The fact that it becomes a theme throughout the whole movie. That was so funny.
The car meet/racing is a real thing. Used to go to a secluded road in Detroit next to the airport when I was younger. Even people would scramble to leave when cops came.
The face swap of Diesel and Walker after the “I’m in your face” line was pure gold 😂
Jen when Brian presses the NoS: "I feel like he went too soon"
She already gets it
Holden said Brian has Goku's attitude. That was hilarious 😂
" I thought they were a family" I spit out my drink lmfao
These movies had a lot of influence for us back in the day living in SoCal. It also still blows me away to this day that I've driven on that highway in the final Semi-Truck scene so many times before realizes that's where they shot it. Always remember the scene every time I'm on it lol
I just did the biggest double take, rewind, then laugh out loud when I saw the “I’m in your face” edit. I feel like that went SO under the radar. DEAD
When they’re talking about how cringey the ending was with Brian letting Dom get away, I’m thinking “Did they miss the whole character development with Dom and Brian throughout the film? Like did they miss the garage scene with Dom talking about his Dad? Idk, something about this.
JEN IS LIKE I THOUGHT THEY WERE ALL FAMILY!
The best franchise to watch for fun and action.
One of my all time favorite franchises if they went to 50 movies id still sit and watch all of them. Cant wait for you guys to watch the rest
4:28
“He’s already pulled over! He can’t pull over any farther!”
This is a movies series I never thought I'd see you guys react too. That being said, get ready for a wild ride if you continue on through the series. A lot of people hate the direction they took, others love the movies no matter what they do (including me). Can't wait to see Holdens reactions after the 4th movie 😅😅
Dom is such a good driver he can do both a wheelie and a burnout at the same time which is impossible.
YES! Finally!
I'm going to love to see how you guys react to the evoution of this franchise. From number 5 it's going to be A RIDE
It took me a while and multiple times watching this movie to come to the realization that the first fast and the furious is a reimagining of the movie Point Break. Instead of surfers, they race cars. It's not until the 2nd movie that it starts to turn into its own thing.
Much like Transformers. The F&F movies are just fun to turn off your thinking cap and enjoy the ride.
Their commentary made me laugh, the faces she was making like "brian" u cant do this lol
Gonna be awesome. She is not prepared for the descent into insanity this series gets to (in the most awesome way)
Bro I just clicked on "oldest" button, to find out what other movies have u reacted to.
you started 11 years ago.
It's Either about a Family that Races Cars or Steal Cars, Jen Pretty Much Sums up the whole Series!
Love the franchise and I’m happy that you guys are giving it a shot! I think you guys will end up actually liking the series. At least up till the 7th movie 😂😂😂
The first 3 movies are so good! I grew up watching the first 2 and I have memorized entire chunks from them! The rest are still a fun time but the story and music in the first 2 is just _chefs kiss_
“Let’s go ahead and get into it cuh!” Holden is such a meme lord I love it
6:55 the actor’s name is Noel G and he actually visited my HS my freshman year and gave a speech and I got to meet him. He’s a really chill and funny dude. Always love seeing him in movies
Man, this was a tough watch. It’s like watching my parents watching a younger generations enjoyment and dogging on it the whole time because they don’t understand it. Smh
Holdens commentary is the best thing that's happened to this franchise.. 😂😂😂
One of my favorite things about this franchise is the way they've eventually brought back every single person who's appeared... except for Ja Rule. It just makes me laugh because I vividly remember after this movie came out, he was on some late night show talking about how he and Vin were planning on doing more movies with Dom and Edwin at the center, and then I believe he wanted too much money, so bye bye Ja, hello Luda.
he also dissed Eminems daughter Hailey, and his group at the time (D-12) wrote a diss song about Ja Rule. everyone cut ties with him after eminem shit on him
Ja wanted too much money or wasn't enough money for the role and Ludacris took the offer that ja refused.
Even though im not a car guy, the first couple of FF movies have always been fun to watch
Don't think I didn't notice the Vin Diesel face swap, when he said "I'm in your face!" lol
These are the perfect movies to just, turn your brain off and enjoy how silly and dumb they are, I love it
Btw... as far as I know Dom is in his late 20's, Mia in her early 20's (some people have to learn for college too) and the rest, Bryan, Letty aso are also in their md to late 20's.
the dave chapelle reference absolutely killed me aha
The edit of doms face on Brian’s was hilarious I wonder how many people noticed watching this reaction it was so quick 😂
This movie is basically Point Break but with cars. Virtually all aspects are the same, even down to the failed final heist/robbery
so happy you guys are getting around to this!! will be waiting for each one!
R.I.P. Paul walker 🕊️
I can't believe I've never seen that post-credits scene 😆
Tokyo Drift was by far the best in the entire series. And you probably wouldn't know it was a Fast and Furious film if it didn't say it in the title or if other cameos didn't show up. The action is great, story works pretty well, the music is PHENOMINAL!
It's definitely not the best, IMO, it sounds like you only like it because of the music.
@jkhoover 3rd best honestly
@@ghstdnsr Yes, I agree. I always skip over it. At best it's forgetful.
I’m so glad you guys are doing one off movies. It’s a great way for Jen and yourself to catch up classics and hidden gems. keep it up 👍
After the rise in popularity that was back then, "the fast and the furious" and its sequel too fast too furious. Teens specially in the USA and South America, started racing in the streets. Some of them died, due to how fast they were going. Back to the movie. Dom's car in the final scenes of the movie is a modified Doge Charger, while Bryans car is a Toyota Supra.
20:14 - fun fact about that scene
My Uncle Frank took me to Neptunes Net for lunch after an interview I had in Ventura. I didn't know it at the time but
we were sitting in the same spots as Paul and Vin. I later learned I got the job while watching this movie with my buddy a few days before the seventh (and final Paul) movie
came out. My Uncle passed away a few short years later but every time I see this scene, I get to relieve that moment with him. It is a tourist trap now, being shot in so many movies,
but if you ever want some good fish tacos and some good cold beer on the beach...look no further.
Hell yea. One of the best movie series, if you just want pure ridiculousness
Hearing Holden say “let’s go ahead and get into it… CUH” made me lose it 😂😂😂😂 3:42
🤣🤣🤣 same!! I knew exactly what he was doing
Very fun movie, I watched this over and over when I was a kid, I think you're going to become big fans of the series!
This was one of my best friends favourite movie(s) he was always messing with his dads car when we were growing up, we lost touch over the years but it’s cool to see the videos and photos he posts of the cars he does up and drives now
Yooooo that part when he said “im in your face” 😂😂😂😂
A little car knowledge for Jen and Holden:
Nitrous oxide also known as NOS is typically used during street races because it has the potential to provide a short burst of power to a vehicle.
Thers also short film showing what happend to Brian before the 2nd movie
Check out 'The Turbo Charged Prelude for 2 Fast 2 Furious'
It's a little video on TH-cam and it connects the ending of the 1st one and the beginning of the 2nd one.
6:05 “im in your face”😂😭😭💀 the editing is too good LMAOOO. This had me crying😂
If u think about it Paul walker passed away a similar way to the way Dom described his fathers death in the movie
I kinda feel like the "I live my life a quarter mile at a time" is the scene that pushed this movie into becoming a franchise.
*Holden after watching 5 minutes of Fast & Furious* "Yo cuh, I think I be doggin' on this movie too hard furrealz."
fun fact if you ever go race at the track like you have to notify them if you have NOS so when the race start the person who don't have NOS gets a head start
Fun Fact Race Wars an Actual Thing where they show off their cars And I really enjoyed your reaction and hilarious seeing you both trying guess if people do this lol
The off the cuff "what?" Comment for paul walkers stare during the date scene was fucking hilarious bravo.
YESSSS, please do this franchise!!
