thankyou ash & hannah for your hilarious & “symbolism” reactions!!! some of the most genuine couple that ive ever know. keep it up guys im rooting for you. i always watch your video reactions to brighten up my mood every week 🫶🏻❤️
I loved your prisoner of azkaban reaction (my personal favourite) and I've just been waiting for your reaction to Snape and it was worth it. I really hope you'll react to the reunion, I really think you'll enjoy it
When you rewatch knowing Snape’s secret, you can see his hesitation in attacking McGonagall. It’s not because he’s frightened or weak, but because he *doesn’t want to truly hurt her.* The bit where he knocks the Carrows unconscious before fleeing was also a great little addition.
If you pay attention, he also didn't say that anyone would be punished. When he said it, it was "in accordance with their crimes" or "treated as equally guilty". Both of those can be interpreted in a way that results in nothing happening.
If you know it, you can see these moments in every movie. Alan Rickman did a phenomenal job and the fact, that he was the only person on earth exapt Rowling who knew the ending showed in his performance.
Snape wasn’t weak, he was an exceptional duellist- he was hesitant when McGonagall stood between himself and Harry, and didn’t want to fight her. He deflected every one of McGonagall’s spells, and even deflected a couple into the Death Eaters behind him to knock them out before taking their wands and escaping
I think Minerva although not knowing the full story was suspicious about Snape being on the dark side, she was a friend to him for years after all, she sure knew some things no one had tell her. She's also really protective over her students, in the books she fight at least 3 times to protect the children, so i believe in that scenario she thinks about protect her students against the death eathers, but also not taking it too hard because she also low-key believed in Snape.
The detail they left out about Snapes love for Lily, is that your patronus charm becomes the same one as the person you love. Lily's patronus was the deer.
Yeah, I really wish that had been made clearer in the film, especially since they have the line where Dumbledore asks if Snape has grown to care for Harry, Snape casts his patronus, and Dumbledore asks, "Lily?" I know that's (understandably) confused a few reactors.
@JessieNebulousGaming if James was a stag, it was not a far leap to get that Dumbledore seeing Snape's doe made him think of Lily therefore her patronus was probably a doe.
I don't know if a patronus ALWAYS becomes a representation of who you love. It CAN. "Patronuses took forms that their casters might not expect, for which they had never felt a particular affinity, or (in rare cases) even recognised."
Also, the reason for Snape's strange, composed, and monotone behavior was that he was nearly 24/7 blocking out Voldemort from his mind to keep his secret double agent with Dumbledore from him. If he for one moment let his guard down, it would expose his betrayal against Voldemort and his key part in taking him down would be lost.
When Alan Rickman passed, a memorial was held at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal in Florida and in California. Countless fans came, along with their wands and house attire, and were allowed to stay after hours. There were brief remarks and then everyone raised their wands to Rickman and to Snape. I attended the memorial in Florida. The thing that got me to finally break was in the queue for the ride within Hogwarts, you walk past the door to Snape's office. Someone, (it was never revealed whom) placed Lilies on the ground in front of the door, along with a card. The card simply said, 'Always...'
The first words Harry asked about Snape was: "Who is that man?”. Harry's last words about Snape at the end: "The bravest man I ever knew”. The story of Severus Snape. An immortal love that transcends everything. Even death. And also, it's too bad they cut out the scene from final battle where Draco Malfoy throws his wand to Harry Potter so he can fight Voldemort. It would have been an amazing redemption arc for Draco, showing that despite being raised by a cowardly father, and have a "bad" behaviour, deep inside he was a good person and he was able to make the right decision in the end. Great Reaction! Thanks for emotions.
Very similar to I'm glad you're with me Samwise Gamgee (fellowship), followed by I'm glad to be with you Samwise Gamee, here at the end of all things (ROTK).
I understand the whole character arc thing but this scene just wouldn‘t make sense as harry had his wand (actually draco’s wand) the whole time and it would‘ve been another scene where they didn‘t do the books justice
Lmao. The books say the opposite. Snape was literally a stalker , he wanted Harry and James dead ,it's Dumbledore that forced him to stop. In the movies they turned him from a asshole villian to a redeemable anti hero.
@@cringekiller348 I mean you felt sorry for him, to an extent, in the books, he was basically what we could call an incel nowadays. He was rejected and bullied. Thank you for reminding me, I read the books a long time ago and when I watched this I was like "I don't quite remember his relationship with her being quiiiite like this...? I swear he was rejected far more...?"
Alan Rickman was the only one that knew Snape’s full story. He asked J.K. about the character and she told him what his true story was. That’s why he could play it so nuanced
In the books, Voldemort didn't disintegrate, he just fell down dead as a normal human, showing that he was never anything special. Also, in the books their final duel was in the Great Hall with everyone watching, including Voldemort's surviving followers. So not only did Voldemort have a normal human death like any others, he was humiliated in front of his followers.
Honestly in the books that part is so cringe and poorly written. Harry and Voldemort go around in circles in the great hall for half an hour pointing their wands at each other, while both explain to each other their stories and many things that JK never knew how to include naturally throughout the story, and it was her only opportunity to explain everything that she missed. It was way better showed in this Movie compared with the book, everything is more epic and emotional in this final battle.
It’s not even a duel, in the books Harry just tells Voldemort he should stop thinking so highly of himself and give up and that Voldemort would never manage to harm him and probably shouldn't try to do it or things would end badly for him. Voldemort gets angered by this, tries to kill Harry with the elder wand that was actually Harrys and the wand just fires the spell at Voldemort instead.
RIP Alan Rickman he was a bit hesitant to continue the series until JK Rowling told him about Snapes purpose and that’s why I’m glad Ash noticed the small details of him protecting the trio especially Harry kinda like tough love but still being a great double agent and protecting both Harry and Malfoy
Rickman knew before even starting to film the first movie about Snape's motivation. He mentions the meeting and Rowling telling him what "no one else knows" about Snape's past in his Diaries on October 7th, 2000.
@@lorrainecc99 Even in the books I would say he is the hero given without him and Dumbledore the war wouldn't have been won but he wasn't a nice person in the books like in the movies. I always assumed that given Rickman played more aged-up Snape, the movie version had more time to reconcile with his feelings whilst harbouring some bitterness as well. The book version was young but still miserable with conflicting emotions and made others suffer just because he couldn't accept his own failures
Little extra detail that makes Molly Weasley (the mom) killing Bellatrix even better is she says "Not my daughter you bitch". Molly always dreamed about having a daughter. Molly had six sons and one daughter who was her youngest. It was the ultimate mama bear moment.
Not only that but her deepest fear is losing Family member from her only brothers died during the first voldemort war. Hence the strange clock in her home and her boggart turned into dead version of her family.
@@horacethecheese1009Actually, it was Colin Creevey himself who snuck back in and got killed. I don't remember if his brother did the same or not, but I know for a fact Colin Creevey died
Lupin’s death and Snape’s death/reveal SLAYED me when I read the book for the first time. I’ve never cried so hard at literature. From POA on, Sirius, Lupin, and Snape were my favorite characters, and by the end, they were all gone. And all of them deserved better.
I was 9 months pregnant when this book came out. Deathly Hallows plus those hormones (and my favorite HP character since the early books was Snape), you can imagine the sobbing 😭
I remember when the book was coming out, the only 2 people Rowling promised would not be killed would be Ron's parents. That told me at least one of the Weasleys would be killed. But yeah the ones who died here, it was rough. Hardest for me was Doby, cause like Sirius's death, I had to reread that part because I was in denial.
Prolly at the end of the philosopher's stone) Quirrell possessed by Voldy couldn't touch Harry cause Lily's protective spell had not yet worn off. At least, this is the first scene that comes to my mind. Basically, the whole franchise is about a mother's love and sacrafices so there must definitely be other occurences! @@jorgesgovia
If you’re wondering why Harry didn’t die in the Forbidden Forest by Voldemort, it’s actually explained in the final book. When Harry was hit by the Killing Curse, he sees Dumbledore in Limbo who explained the real reason why he didn’t die. It has nothing to do with the Deathly Hallows or the Horcrux taking a bullet for him. Dumbledore says it’s because the love protection that Lilly put on Harry when she sacrificed herself to save him. The protection was supposed to last until he turned 17 due to him calling the Dursley’s house his home. As long as he lives with his Aunt Petunia who shared Lilly’s blood, the protection would live on. It was meant to go away once he turned 17 and no longer live with the Dursleys, but it didn’t. This is because Voldemort used Harry’s blood to come back in the Goblet of Fire. Dumbledore says: “His body keeps her sacrifice alive and while that enchantment survives, so do you.” So because Voldemort put Harry’s blood into his new body, the Protection lived on inside of himself. Continuing Lilly’s protection for Harry, which is why he didn’t die.
Snape wasn't just blocking McGonagall's spells he was actually redirecting them at the other death-eaters and if you pay a closer attention, right before he jumps out of the window he reached for the death-eaters and took their wands
That Snape memory reveal is one of the most WTF moments in all of movies just so well done. Make you watch it differently when you keep rewatching the movies to I feel
Yeah, it shows Hermione is truly a good hearted person & there was ZERO hesitation or hard feelings left - Lav was a good person full of light & on the good side and that's all that mattered.
I feel so fortunate to have found you two all those months ago. This series quickly became one of my favorites on the channel. It's so sick to find people so open to experiencing new things and sharing it with others. Very ready to cry this one out lol ❤
I’d appreciate you checking out my reactions too, I’m doing the equaliser next. I could use the support. This was a brilliant reaction from these two. I’m gonna miss the Harry Potter reactions.
Tonks was not pregnant when she was killed. Did you see how tiny she was? She actually had the baby a couple months before she died The baby is fine. His name is Teddy. His godfather is Harry but he wasn't raised by Harry. He was raised by his maternal grandmother and in the epilogue in the book. One of them Harry's kids sees him kissing one of their cousins, one of Bill's kids! By the way, in the epilogue of the book it tells you basically all of the Weasley kids have kids. The only ones who didn't is Fred who died at 21 and Charlie who is married to his work. The other one's all had children. There was a total of a dozen Weasley grandkids! George's kids were biracial as he married. Angelina, the black girl who was the Gryffindor chaser when Harry got to Hogwarts and they had two kids Roxanne and Fred II
Yeah theres an eliminated scene where Lupin askes her why she came to the fight and he says our son needs you and she says "you are the one who needs me the most right now" or something like that
Hannah really needs to be protected and loved at all costs, she’s amazing! This is one of the best reactions to this series I’ve ever seen, thank you guys! It’s been a pleasure to watch. This movie is the perfect ending, snape just breaks my heart 💔
I honestly wish the flashbacks of Snape's memories included all the times Snape was protecting Harry; from when he was casting a spell to undo Quirrel's spell on Harry's broom, to when he bodily stood between Harry and the werewolf.
Wish it Had him telling Lily that He didn't want to be protected by a mudblood in it. The reason she in the end didn't Take him but James, even after James mocked snape. ...
Ash is the only reactor who’s mentioned what I always think in that last scene: Harry giving his children what he never had - family to see him off to Hogwarts and a parent to comfort him when he was scared. I yelled at the screen ‘yes, Ash!’ That scene and when Snape tells Harry he has his mother’s eyes always get me crying. It was the only gentle thing he ever says to Harry. I just love that Harry has that moment to remember and that the last thing Snape sees before he dies are Lily’s eyes. Even though Harry is the true hero I think Snape is also the tragic hero. I believe that Snape really does hate Harry because of James but he protected Harry with his life because of Lily. Rickman was so amazing in this role! If you watch the movies again you’ll notice the subtle moments. Like his face when he kills Dumbledore.
I had to pause because I was laughing so hard at "Kiss my nipple! Kiss my nipple!" and the fact that she DID without questioning it 😂 you two are so funny
IK You guys have moved on from this series and probably don't check comments here anymore but just wanted to come here and say that this is my 3rd time watching THIS particular reaction because I LOVE your reaction to this film. The comments, predictions, tears, and shock you guys portray especially when the big reveal happens is golden. I appreciate you both very much.
The fact that you guys picked up on SO much in this movie that was hard to pick up without reading the books... this is why you guys are the best! Legit, Snape's reveal is even MORE insane in the book, but you guys picked up on so much. Lily's patronus was a Doe, which matched James' Stag. Snape loved her so much that his patronus CHANGED to a Doe. Even after so many years of her being dead, he kept her patronus as his own.
@@melhawl3685 Well she was there in the books too but after they alerted the Order and the older DA, so I think it was just easier for them in the movie to make her the same age as them.
@@enriquev1271 what annoys me is they had Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley) and Sean Biggerstaff (Oliver Wood) on set and didn't do any sort of acknowledgement of them. Wood appeared for a split second flying toward the burning quidditch pitch and you can't even really tell it's him Percy's return was cut.
This video gave me all the feels again. I remember being confused about the Harry Death part too. Going back over it, I figured it out. Harry had the choice to go back or not because he was the Master of Death. As the story of the 3 brothers says, if you have all three Deathly Hallows, you are the master of death. Harry had the cloak and the stone and even though we didn't know it yet, because the elder wand was his too (Draco disarmed Dumbledore, but then Harry disarmed Draco), Harry was the master of death per the Deathly Hallows story.
Snape has got to be one of the best written characters in any universe. The twist broke my heart. Every time I watch those scenes from Snape's death to his line "Always" has me fucked up. RIP to Alan Rickman. What a legend to play that character so beautifully. What a journey this has been. Thank you for sharing your reactions to this series. and what a journey for yall as well. 100k subs! Congrats to the both of you of being able to quit your jobs and pursue your passion. I am so happy I found you when I did over a year ago. I can't wait for more. Thanks again. On to 1mil now! LETS GO!!! SYMBOLISM!!!
Snape was both darkness and light 🤍🖤 He is the most complex and interesting character of the whole series. Snape's memories always get me. Thank you guys, for sharing this experience with us
I like in the book though that Harry walks in & is just hit bam bam bam with so much death and sadness & we experience it right along with him real time.
@@selinakurz8754Something Made the wall explode, right after Percy cracked a Joke and Fred laughed(Percy Had Just come Back because they Had a falling Out) and Fred was Happy He got His Brother Back. And He still Had that bright Smile on His Face when they found His Body
Ron is actually really smart in the books. The director took a lot of Ron's best stuff and gave it to Hermoine. I love that it's Ginny, Cho, and Hermoine who immediately step up to protect Harry first.
They also gave a lot of harry’s actions to hermione. he was the one who jumped on the dragon. the movies made it seem like hermione was a perfect human
Also, they made Harry a weaker wizard and made him seem like everything was by accident. I mean, he was an Auror and they are the most powerful witches and wizards.
There's a deleted scene where in the moment that Harry gets up, revealing that he's not dead, Draco runs to their side throwing his wand at Harry and then using Draco's wand, Harry cast confringo, starting the fight. Too bad they deleted that scene.... It would be such a cool redemption to Draco...
JK Rowling has said she doesn't believe Draco deserved a redemption arc that he "never had a heart of gold under the pompous act" perhaps that why they didn't include the scene....just a thought
@@ACAK2353 Yes but Rowling is notoriously harsh on Draco for some reason. Consider he was born into a Death Eater family, had Voldemort LIVING IN HIS HOUSE and that Draco is a child, I have no idea why she is so against him being forced to make bad choices on the threat of his or his family's lives. But no. The 10 year old boy is EVIL I tell you.
@@ACAK2353 they were trying SO hard to use the scene and took SO many shots of that scene, but they didn't end up including the scene because Dan couldn't catch the wand lmao

I just know I'm in for a treat for Snape's memories because YOU BOTH are so aware of the gravity of what he did and why, and what that actually means for the man he was. I love you both ❤
Honestly never thought in million years Harry Potter would make this emotional specially the snape story arc…thank you so much mate for sharing this journey with us ❤️
The Malfoy's only chose to follow Voldemort in order to protect their son, as Voldemort threatened his life. So the moment they got the chance to escape the Dark Lord's grasp, they took it.
This has by far been the most visceral reaction to Snape's memories I've seen on TH-cam, so heartbreakingly beautiful. Snape couldn't help but resent Harry because he resembled his father James so much, and Snape resented James because Lily fell in love with James and then probably also because James couldn't protect Lily from Voldemort. And Harry was essentially the reason that Lily was killed, but out of love for Lily Snape risked his life to protect Harry later on. For Snape, it all came down to his love for Lily.
James cudnt protect lily. He died for her. What did Snape do? Snape was the reason lily died. He conveyed the prophecy to Voldemort. Then asked Voldemort to kill James and harry and save lily for him. Snape then went to Dumbledore, to protect lily, and Dumbledore forced Snape to be a double agent in return. Snape's the most disgusting character in the entire series.
@@yogeshjagdale5969 Snape isn't the reason Lily died. Peter is. Snape didn't know what the prophecy was about. Can't blame him for her death. Also, he never asked Voldemort to kill James and Harry. Snapes the only reason Voldemort didn't win. There's nothing disgusting about Snape. And James couldn't protect Lily, he may have died for her but she didn't live. James is the disgusting one. He literally SA Snape.
@@yogeshjagdale5969 I know James couldn't do anything to protect Lily than to die for her. But put yourself in the shoes of a man who felt his soulmate was stolen by another man who then failed to protect her no matter the circumstances, you'll resent anyone who resembles him and his personality. Nobody knew Voldy would target the Potters after hearing the prophecy and Snape risked his life by snitching on his boss lord, the most powerful murderer to Dumble, what else could he do than warn them about it?? Voldy would've ended Snape in a second if Snape had spoken more of his true feelings to Voldy than ask him to spare a muggleborn witch, which is risky as fuck to begin with. I agree with you that Snape was likely a lousy human being for the most of his life as a product of a lousy family and upbringing (evident in the prince's tale) and I'm merely making the case that his love for Lily literally made him say "anything" to Dumbledore, when he asked what Snape would give in return for the protection of the Potters, and I would argue that Snape made the first move towards double agency by snitching on his own accord. Famously Voldemort killed everyone who turned their back on him, and he could have gotten suspicious of Snape at many moments during those 3 ish years after his resurrection. I think Snape couldn't forgive the evil in Voldy's ways after Lily, and that is not to say it redeemed many years of dark death eater business and tormenting students later on. I'm merely saying that love made him risk his life, well, more than that, Voldy did kill him in the end. Snape is a nuanced character, not "the most disgusting character", your honor.
@@brittanylewandowski6200 Wow James is the disgusting one. Do you know the real reason why Lily choose James over Snape? James at 17 joined order of Phoenix, fought and escaped Voldemort 3 times. Fought and died for his wife and kid at age of 19. The only problem was that he trusted his friends too much. What did Snape do at 17. Joined Voldemort. Became a deatheater. Participated in the killing and torturing of countless muggles and magicfolk. That's why he became Voldemort's favourite. Went to spy for Voldemort. He conveyed the prophecy to Voldemort. Snape is directly responsible for Lily death. Snape's admiration for Voldemort never changed. I can agree him being horrible to harry, but to abuse Neville, Hermione. Purposely exposing Lupin was a werewolf which forces lupin to resign from the dark arts job. He hold a lifelong grudge, that's a petty and disgusting character. Lily wud be alive, if Snape had not become a deatheater.
@@yogeshjagdale5969 I'd have a lifelong grudge against someone who sexually assaulted me too. Also James and Lily died at 21, not 19. Snape is not responsible at all for Lily and James' dying. Voldemort and Peter are the only ones responsible for Lilly and James' death. And he most definitely lost admiration for Voldemort after he killed Lily. Snapes the only reason Voldemort didn't win. But ya'll Snape haters forget that he saved the world. And no Lily still would have died. Voldemort would have found out about the prophecy regardless.
When Hannah cries you feel the emotion and gravity of the scene... But when Ash cries you know that the scene is just fcked up(in a good way) emotionally. Also one of the best lines in this franchise was dropped! "After all this time?" "Always"
I’ve watched Harry Potter countless times, but I cried with you throughout these reactions! You guys picked up on things it took me multiple rewatches to understand and process. Even today, after having watched the movies over and over again I pick up on new symbolism and hints every time I watch it. 30:00 most of us book fans, agree that they should’ve added the scene with Tonks. Allow me to explain: in the half blood Prince Tonks has gone through some changes along with her Patronus, Harry questions why her Patronus changed. At the end of the book and reveals that she’s in love with Lupin, and that a Patronus will change to match the ones we love.So when Dumbledore asks: “Lily… after all this time?” He is really asking “You still love her… after all this time?” To which, a shiver will run down my spine every time I hear it, Snape replies “Always…”. You see… Lily Evens (Potter)’s Patronus was a Doe…
Thank you @imaginarycorgi7312 for that info. I didn't read the books and would have never known that. I think I need to read them because it seems there is alot there was left out.
@@georgereinhardt7481Dude if you are interested I’ll share the google drive link to the original UK audiobooks narrated by Stephen Fry (so Philosopher’s Stone not Sorcerer’s).
its worth mentioning that the spell harry used against voldemort was Expelliarmus, the first one he ever mastered (and considered his signature move) and a low level spell. so not only did voldemort die a human death, he was done in by one of the most basic spells a duelist can learn
And Harry learned Expelliarmus from Snape. The very first time that Harry saw that spell was when Snape used it on Lockhart during their dueling lessons in The Chamber of Secrets. It was one more thing that Snape did that benefited Harry, whether it was deliberate or not.
In the movie, Harry's final spell never touched Voldemort. He dies when Neville kills the snake. Voldemort marks Harry as the chosen one when he decides to go after him, because he was convinced that Neville's parents were too weak to have a son capable of destroying him. But, the prophecy always left it open as to who it could be, Harry or Neville. They all destroyed horcruxes. I think the aim is to make it clear that if it were Harry alone, he wouldn't be able to do it, that he needed his friends, the people he loved. That united they were stronger.
Hannah just to clarify Ash was right Snape basically was a double agent but on behalf of Dumbledore that’s also why before he hit’s Dumbledore w the Avada Kedavara he says “Severus… please” cause Dumbledore knew how the elder wand works so he also wanted him to kill him instead of Draco cause then Voldemort would kill draco and Severus would’ve died anyways due to not fulfilling his unbreakable vow by keeping him safe (also Harry explains near the end how since he disarmed Draco it essentially belonged to him or something like that if I remember correctly)
You can't see Neville because he is the hergology professor at Hogwarts. There's actually a play with Harry's and Draco's sons becoming best friends. One carries the weight of his father's legacy while the other is the outcast because of his father's actions. They grow close because they can relate with eachother's problems.
Y'all are easily my favorite movie reaction channel. All the boxes are ticked. You pay attention to the movie and follow what's going on. You're legitimately funny without being annoying. You allow yourselves to become emotionally invested in the films which is great to see. You deserve all your success.
It's an interesting detail that in the books, both Sirius and Fred die laughing. Fred's death in the book is a such punch in the gut because it happens immediately after Percy Weasley, who had been a Ministry fanatic for much of the series, redeemed himself and decided to stand with his family... What an amazing story.
I saw the film on the first showing in an English cinema. The place was packed and within a minute or two of "Snape's memories" of starting there were audible sniffles all over the place and the sound of tissues coming out of pockets and bags. There were many distinct sobs as Snape held Lily and when he uttered the single word "Always". This was really great writing and the interplay between Michael Gambon and Alan Rickman was Oscar-worthy. Snape might not have had any regard for Harry: "arrogant", "no discernible talent" etc, but everything he did was out of utterly unshakeable, yet unrequited, love for Lily. There are a whole stack of current Hollywood writers who could learn a thing or two about how to write a scene that will really wrench the emotions of the paying public.
I love watching yall cause it's like watching a movie with friends. You say your opinion and how it makes you feel. No dumb skits or prerehearsed bs. Emotion and fun. Well deserved success. I dont often comment here or patreon but yall are beyond worth it. I wish I had friends like you two
32:37 - "They can not kill Hagrid. That's the final straw for me." *directors frantically create time machine to go back in time to make sure Hagrid is mildly inconvenienced instead of murdered because of Hannah's sheer fury*
SPOILERS TO PEOPLE NOT WATCHING THE VIDEO YET AND HAVENT HAD A CHANCE TO WATCH THIS MOVIE YET Im gonna predict Ash's reaction to finding out Lily picked James over Snape, and honestly this movie omitted alot of key information that makes Lily look alot of worse. Lily and Snape were close friends all the way upto fifth grade, but its said that during the first few years of hogwarts there is alot of strain growing on their friendship as Snape starts following his Slytherin friends and showing more interest in the dark arts and pure blood superiority, which Lily was against for obvious reasons. Then it is during the scene where James bullys snape in the 5th film, it misses out the part that Lily is the one who comes to Snapes defence and tells James to leave snape alone, something he does because he also liked Lily, to which Snape responds by telling Snape he doesnt need any help from a mudblood, something he regrets instantly, but it the point that Lily completely ends her friendship with Snape. Lily initially hated James and found him big headed, but the source material states that the two started dating a few years later when James started to mature abit and become less of an arsehole. The movie makes it look like Lily picked the overconfident arsehole who bullies the weaker students to show off (like in real life :p), but the book actually gives explanation as to why the relationship with lily and snape drifted apart
Also it is made clear that the antagonism between James and Snape was not one sided. Snape gave as good as he got. His redemption was triggered by remorse and regret. Also in the books, it is clear how much Snape bullied the students. Not just Harry (although he bullied Harry worst). He bullied those he regarded as weak, like Neville.

In the books, Lilly only gave up on Snape after he joined the death eaters and calling her a mudblood. It was Snape who informed Voldemort about the prophecy which eventually led to Lilly's death. Snape was driven by remorse. He protected Harry because it was part of his rehabilitation, not because he liked him. I don't say he's a bad guy, but his character is more complex than shown in the movies.
Yes. And for me, Snape is definitely a bad person. He doesn't care at all about Harry or James. He tortures Harry in his classes to an abusive extend and not just Harry. Remember when he tries to kill Nevilles toad? Or publicly humiliates Hermione with her rather big teeth? In the movies he is portrait as a great hero but I think this could be dangerous and toxic for young people who read the books and then think that Snape was a good person in the end because of the movies...
@@WALLIS.. Snape also had the children of known death eaters in all of those classes. He knew they reported what he did, and he knew Voldemort would return. He had to maintain his image as a Death Eater. And he was constantly watching over and protecting Harry. Yes, he obviously resented Harry because he closely resembled his father…Snape’s childhood bully who “stole” the only person he ever loved, and was too hard on him. But he did protect him.
@@brittanylewandowski6200 Nah, James was young a-hole who eventually grew up and changed for the better. Snape was an active Death Eater as an adult whose actions led to the murder of the one he loved. Snape far worse.
@@pencilnecked1579 None of Snape's actions led to Lily dying. The only ones to blame for her death Are Voldemort and Peter. James also sexually assaulted Snape, far worse than anything Snape did. James can screw himself.

Remember from the second film, "Only a true Gryffindor could pull the sword from the hat." Neville has always been a hero from day one. Also, the part where Draco's Mom saves Harry Potter by telling Voldemort that he was dead is such a favorite moment of mine in this movie. It's rare to give a "villain" a compassionate moment.
@@saewhayes, but Voldemort marked Harry as his equal according to the prophecy. So it could have been neville, but Voldermort chose it to be harry 🤷🏼♂️.
@flocking_sheep_never_asleep Not quite. The teacher that the snake ate (after being killed by Voldy) was Charity Burbage, professor of Muggle Studies. The teacher that made the prophecy was Sybil Trelawney, professor of Divination, whom we first meet in Prisoner of Azkaban. Voldy "chose" Harry and "marked him as his equal" because Harry was a half-blood, while Neville was pureblood. Yes, Neville could have been the chosen one, but it was Voldy himself who made the choice. Oh, and it was at the end of July, not June. Nevile was born July 30, and Harry, July 31.
this series has been AMAZIN!!!!!!!!! I DO wish that Hannah noticed Hermione was the one to save Lavender Brown even though she had already passed. I feel like that would have been such an awesome moment of "women empowerment" lol Hannah would have loved that!! Also, im gonna have to try to watch the full version, I was waiting for your guys reaction to all Harrys past friends and family coming back in the forest to tell him they will be with him til the end. SHEW gets me every time! Found you guys on TikTok and OBSESSED NOW! lol
You guys should absolutely watch the 20th anniversary movie. It gives such a good insight into what their lives were like growing up making these movies. The whole cast has such a cool bond that seems really unique to this series.
I knew that the "Always" would wreck you. This line never fails. Enjoyed watching, as always, and this is probably the best reaction to that movie I've ever seen, also the one I was most looking forward to. Thanks for sharing😊
What impressed me most is that you made it to 2023 without getting spoiled on all these plot points. I wish I could go back and see / read this for the first time again.
My fiancé and I are huge Harry Potter fans and watching your journey through the films has been such a joy. You’re both so funny, yet thoughtful about what you’re watching and we can’t wait to see more films/shows through your eyes!! Wishing y’all so much success, it’s so deserved!
i watched so many harry potter reactions and you guys have to be the best, and one of the best reaction channels in general. also i’ll never get over hannah’s empathy man she’s such a gem. lucky man hahah
There is a 20th anniversary show with most of the cast & you should definitely watch it. There is also the Fantastic Beasts movies, which imo is good too. Harry & Ron go on to become Auroras (dark wizard police) with Harry becoming head of the Aurora's by age 26 & Hermione eventually becomes the Minister of Magic.
Snape’s character arc was one of the greatest reveals in the history of fiction. That was one of the truest and purest showings of love and devotion ever. Just amazing.
Yes he loved Lily but he should have saved Harry for Harry not for another. That for me is not strong enough reason for him to be a hero. If he would have shown it by own accord , different story.
@@erikalulea3608 That's what I say over and over again. Snape is not a hero for me and not even a good person at all. In the movies he might be portrait as such but in the books he doesn't care about Harry or James at all. Snape is obsessed to an unhealthy degree and just can't let go of a woman that he never even was together with and who he frequently called mudblood... Yes it was brave to turn spy for Dumbledore but nothing else marks him as a good person.
Wait until you realize the reason snape said to harry "look at me" before he died is because the last thing he wants to see before his death is lily's eyes
You guys have the best reaction about this movie I've seen. I can't even pick which part I liked: Harry saving Draco, Hermione and Ron's kiss, Snape's death, Bellatrix's comeuppance... so many to choose from! It really makes me sad that we have ended this series. I wish it didn't have to end. Anyway, congratulations on hitting 100K! Love you guys. PS: Cho wasn't a villain. You missed the part in the Order of the Phoenix, when Umbridge was going to interrogate Harry and the rest and she asked Snape for his Veritaserum (truth potion). He said she already used them all on the other student(s). Cho was that student (or one of them). That's why she spilled the beans. In the books, it wasn't even her. It was her friend. I guess they didn't want to add another minor character in the movie, or didn't like they way Cho and Harry split in the books so they made this the reason.
I highly recommend you two read the three lasts chapters of the deatlhy hallows book (from chapter 33 to the end)... It's SO MUCH emotional than the film. The dialogs, the description of harry's feelings about death and everything, the last conversation with Dumbledore... masterpiece

He also took there wands before he leaves…if you look closely
He also deflected all her attacks at the death eaters behind him 💪🏼
If you know it, you can see these moments in every movie.
Alan Rickman did a phenomenal job and the fact, that he was the only person on earth exapt Rowling who knew the ending showed in his performance.
Nice use of bold 😂🤣😂🤣😂
Snape wasn’t weak, he was an exceptional duellist- he was hesitant when McGonagall stood between himself and Harry, and didn’t want to fight her. He deflected every one of McGonagall’s spells, and even deflected a couple into the Death Eaters behind him to knock them out before taking their wands and escaping
I think she was in on it.
Yeah, yeah, all you guys says is cool and all but this didn't happened in the book. Those death eaters was place in the movie only.
@@-zerxvil-5208 we are talking about the movies though, you know that right?
He was the only one who could have matched Voldemort and he knew that that's why he wanted him on his side and why he kind of had to trust Snape...
It doesn't happen every time though, right?
So sad(((😭 Alan Rickman was a wonderful man. RIP😢❤

They did a similar thing in Los Angeles at Nakatomi Plaza in memory of Hans Gruber.
@@erivera700 This surely is a comment of our time!
Unbelievable arc 👌🏾
This is why Rowling is looking forward this HBO Max series bc she wants it too stay true to her books.
@@nikolasdrn i actually agree except him dropping dead like a muggle would be the perfect irony and insult, they should have done that.
How about Voldemort picking harry as his nemesis cause it could have been Neville longbottom
That really explains how Alan Rickman portrayed Snape for the HP Movies... :'( My heart...
I mean Snape was still an asshole but yeah had atleast depth as a character
My hero from day 1 👊🏽
@@lorrainecc99 Even in the books I would say he is the hero given without him and Dumbledore the war wouldn't have been won but he wasn't a nice person in the books like in the movies.
It was the ultimate mama bear moment.
i always cry when she says that. a mothers love for her kids is insane. molly, narcissa, lilly, even magonagal even had a maternal care for harry

Those three were my favourite characters, too. I was so, so crushed when they died.
Absolutely crushed, I put the book down after Snape’s death, I couldn’t handle it.

Thanks for the explanation v
Yea that’s pretty much it
Thanks for explaining!
interesting..... does that mean that the protection would of worked until Voldemort's new body turned 17 aswell?
@@MrOnetedify No. It means that Harry can’t be killed by him as long as Voldemort himself is still alive. So Harry had already won.
Snape wasn't just blocking McGonagall's spells he was actually redirecting them at the other death-eaters and if you pay a closer attention, right before he jumps out of the window he reached for the death-eaters and took their wands

And even if they were send there... that's where their common room is located. 😅
And also because some of their relatives may have been death eaters, so they didn’t have to fight them.

Ash is the only reactor who’s mentioned what I always think in that last scene: Harry giving his children what he never had - family to see him off to Hogwarts and a parent to comfort him when he was scared. I yelled at the screen ‘yes, Ash!’
That scene and when Snape tells Harry he has his mother’s eyes always get me crying.

This world needs more people like Hannah! This was the very first time I saw somebody reacting to death of that girl who was in love with Ron... ever!
Agreed. Hannah had me in the shoes of any person’s family who would have lost a child or patent or sibling in that battle.
She's full of empathy I love her!!
Haha she’s amazing 🥹
I never even caught that it was Lavender until Hannah said it!

Watching these movies is like reliving old memories you wish you could have back. This is the most perfect movie series of all time. Y’all’s reactions just made it better!
I love how Snape redirected McGonagal's magic attacks at the 2 death eaters behind him, but no one ever notices it.
Took their wands too 🙌🏻
Actually mcgonagall took them out also she was like on the same power level as Kingsley shackle bolt and mad eye moody. Her and snap are equals.

A mother's love saved Harry twice: first Lily then Narcissa Malfoy ❤️

Which all makes it lame
In the movie, Harry's final spell never touched Voldemort. He dies when Neville kills the snake. Voldemort marks Harry as the chosen one when he decides to go after him, because he was convinced that Neville's parents were too weak to have a son capable of destroying him. But, the prophecy always left it open as to who it could be, Harry or Neville. They all destroyed horcruxes. I think the aim is to make it clear that if it were Harry alone, he wouldn't be able to do it, that he needed his friends, the people he loved. That united they were stronger.
Hannah just to clarify Ash was right Snape basically was a double agent but on behalf of Dumbledore that’s also why before he hit’s Dumbledore w the Avada Kedavara he says “Severus… please” cause Dumbledore knew how the elder wand works so he also wanted him to kill him instead of Draco cause then Voldemort would kill draco and Severus would’ve died anyways due to not fulfilling his unbreakable vow by keeping him safe (also Harry explains near the end how since he disarmed Draco it essentially belonged to him or something like that if I remember correctly)
it is on so brand that Voldemort thinks you have to kill the previous owner of the wand when you only need to disarm.
Man this is everything, thank you Jeff ❤️
YES they’re funny but they don’t make fun of the movie so to speak, they unironically and earnestly get invested in them and it’s great!
Hannah thought we wouldn't like her. She was right. We love her!!! ❤️

SPOILERS TO PEOPLE NOT WATCHING THE VIDEO YET AND HAVENT HAD A CHANCE TO WATCH THIS MOVIE YET
Im gonna predict Ash's reaction to finding out Lily picked James over Snape, and honestly this movie omitted alot of key information that makes Lily look alot of worse.
Aha yeah seems like they didn't really have time to delve into that more, or they though it wasn't important enough to include.

@@WALLIS.. Only Snape did care about Harry, that canon. James was worse then Snape ever was.

For Snape to also master a deer patronus like Lilly Potter shows that Snape truly loved her.
Yes the books show emotions can change your patronus like tonks being changed to a wear wolf symbolizing lupin who she loved

There is a 20th anniversary show with most of the cast & you should definitely watch it. There is also the Fantastic Beasts movies, which imo is good too.
You are both so so genuine and sweet with your reaction. Hearts of Gold. Thank you for sharing! All love.
The dialogs, the description of harry's feelings about death and everything, the last conversation with Dumbledore... masterpiece
