Having someone not immediately give papyrus the skeletor voice is pretty odd to me given how seemingly universal that instinct was when the game came out
@@mauro27279 That's what I want to ask the people who insist on it. Like, they can't all be Gen Xers who grew up with the cartoon (I was born in 1986 so I just missed the show and was only aware of He-Man through my older cousin's toys). I know Skeletor memes became kind of a thing in the late 2000s/early 2010s but they were never prevelent in the areas of the internet that I traveled. Is it a bad choice? No, but it's hardly the only choice, and frankly to me the absolute worst people in the Undertale fandom are the people who INSIST that Papyrus HAS to be Skeletor (and that Sans HAS to sound like whatever TH-camr those kinds of people insisted he sounds like). Well if I had to recommend anything it'd be to go into the game spoiler free, but even if you know the whole story it still is important to do a neutral run first simply for the experience. The neutral ending calls are not only some of the most interesting dialogue in the game, but they serve the important narrative purpose of reminding you that your actions have consequences. The reason that every neutral ending is a little different is because your choices do matter, and getting at least one of those endings is important for cementing yourself in the story as an actual actor within the story. Yes I understand that neutral pacifist also gives you a call but it's not the same, all the events after are the results of Flowey's choice to kill the king, not any of your choices. So by skipping a neutral run, you've sidestepped such a major part of the game that it's like you've skipped straight to the ending. 1:08:13 holy fucking shit, i have NEVER seen someone actually understand the "talking flower" conversation before literally ever. every other blind let's player i've ever seen just assumes they thought wrong immediately and completely dismisses the rest of the conversation the moment the echo flower is brought up. i haven't finished the video yet, but even if this guy forgets the whole conversation within five minutes like every other let's player, he's still surpassed my expectations by simply realizing that sans IS talking about flowey, and was making an incorrect assumption in thinking it must be an echo flower.
LITERALLY THIS!!! its in yellow text and everything! honestly, the amount of shit people don't pick up on relating to flowey/asriel sometimes actually drives me up the wall 😭him being my favorite character is low key a curse sometimes. on that note, its also so refreshing to see someone not immediately start thinking asriel is a totally different character from flowey in the pacifist ending. the consistency of "this guy" "what is this guys problem" and "little bro" in both the omega flowey and asriel fight is fantastically funny with a side of lore accuracy
I also realized this as I was playing the game since after flowey taught us how to "play" I immediately got terrified of him back then and whenever the topic is about flowers it always reminded me of him especially during the waterfall chapter I was genuinely terrified of the fact that flowey might somehow pop up from one of the echo lowers
Is it not understandable that the yellow text would be overlooked? Yellow text is used fairly regularly in the game as simply highlighting. Not like red or blue text where it almost always has the same meaning, yellow is sort of a catchall for whatever needs emphasis because the font doesn't have bold.
Holy shit, naturally generated 108 Fun value on your first playthough. The chances of that are insane! (This is what caused the refrigerator phone call at 29:20)

Not sure if you noticed in situ of stream, but one cool thing I didn't see you notice in the vid here - the 'helpers' in the final neutral boss correspond with the weapons you get through the game (e.g. ballet shoes, frying pan, etc..), which are also the 6 other human souls.

In 2016 I had played through The Ruins but that was it and never touched it again. I also played what's available of Deltarune so far right afterward and loved that, too.
Honestly most of Undertale's early fame came from the Homestucks. Yet, I saw all of Undertale at release before ever getting past the first 5 pages of Homestuck, until 3 years ago. Anybody who discovers and plays Undertale now has so much in-the-moment zeitgeist removed. It is sterile of the culture that came before it. Just found this thought interesting to share.
I will never fucking escape homestuck While I highly agree, that it did start out that way, the fact that it stood on it's own merits is more important imo. It's even surpassed homestuck, and honestly, dispite loving the world building, I think undertale is much better, toby fox, at least, handles his success with grace
This is the first time I'm seeing this ending. Because in my playthrough I had to fight Asgore and I literally COULD NOT WIN it was so incredibly hard. Fun fact: During the game, in some specific bits, the game actually changes its name if you're not on Fullscreen. During the Mettaton third encounter, when he's in a dress and singing, the game is named "Undertale: The Musical". Before Omega Flowey's battle, the game is named "Floweytale" as well. I never expected a blind playthrough of this game in 2023, this is a special kind of treat, honestly this game is such a good experience playing it for the first time what I would give to experience that again
Great video! Just a little tip: try to separate your narration from the live talking. Especially avoid talking over yourself, it can make it quite hard to hear what you're saying. Other than that, maybe add an echo or some effect to differentiate between the two voices? Anyway it's always fun to revisit Undertale.
a 'blind' playthrough but you still know to do a pacifist run bc the Internet has convinced streamers that a neutral ending on your first playthrough is bad and wrong
@@Waligug Tough to answer without giving it away, but what they meant is that you had all the requirements to reach the true ending, subconsciously or not, and that's not a given. And the internet is EXTREMELY pushy on forcing decisions on people playing UNDERTALE. Considering the game's whole point, I found it rather problematic and ironic. Didn't watch the whole 10 hours, but there might have been instances where the chat influenced your decisions, or not. If it rings a bell, then It's really likely they wanted you to avoid "unoptimized" decisions, which for many viewers (me included) ruins and fakes the experience, especially on UNDERTALE.
@@WaligugYou did good man, I've been enjoying things alot, and there's nothing wrong with how you played. Some people are very, VERY uptight about this game, it's silly.
@@Waligug Not really. I see a lot of streamers get pushed to play like that on their first run because chat will rip them a new one if they play the game "wrong" by playing how most people do on a first run.

I don't want to spoil much, but trust me, it is REALLY good and makes this game come full circle. Seeing someone play through it blind would be really cool. holy fucking shit, i have NEVER seen someone actually understand the "talking flower" conversation before literally ever. every other blind let's player i've ever seen just assumes they thought wrong immediately and completely dismisses the rest of the conversation the moment the echo flower is brought up. i haven't finished the video yet, but even if this guy forgets the whole conversation within five minutes like every other let's player, he's still surpassed my expectations by simply realizing that sans IS talking about flowey, and was making an incorrect assumption in thinking it must be an echo flower.
I thought I got it wrong until I took note of the difference in the colors used in the text. Forever in awe at how many details are in this game!
didnt jacksepticeye do it too
Is it not understandable that the yellow text would be overlooked? Yellow text is used fairly regularly in the game as simply highlighting. Not like red or blue text where it almost always has the same meaning, yellow is sort of a catchall for whatever needs emphasis because the font doesn't have bold.
i'm really enjoying all the super long videos lately. your content is always good, so more of the good is just great
When bro said "NO" to Napstablook i cried😭😭
If waligug plays it, I’ll most likely watch it. Even if it’s just rewatching to fall asleep to. Keep the game play throughs coming!
I appreciate how you uploaded the full video on the anniversary. Amazing planning work.
Holy shit, naturally generated 108 Fun value on your first playthough. The chances of that are insane! (This is what caused the refrigerator phone call at 29:20)
108???????????
The most impressive is that you managed to evoid all spoilers since 2015
whoa-- ive NEVER seen that refrigerator bit when you first enter the underground what the hell????? it actually spooked the fuck outta me cause ive literally seen SO MANY playthroughs of this game from many many different people and basically know the game by heart, i was NOT prepared to see something i havent seen before whoa
It's one of the many random "fun value" events! You can get a wrong number call from Alphys, see several secret NPCs, find a sound test room featuring Gaster's Theme, among other things, depending on your luck.
I haven’t revisited this game in SO long. Makes me want to do another play through!
I've been in this fandom for 8 years now, and seen my fair share of blind playthroughs. But to find some from 2023 is astounding
i definitely recommend playing the deltarune series after this!! it’s an entirely separate story but i think you’d enjoy it
Everyone is so CHILL LMAO. This game Changed my life too. Congradulations. I also avoided all spoilers and Its one of the greatest gaming experiences of my life. Just hearing the music brings tears to my eyes. Thanks for letting me relive this again.
* Slightly scared at how Gug predicted literally every plot point in Hotland
2:36:16 yeah the ice gets off there, ice is produced in Snowdin, where it's easy to make/plentiful, flows down waterfall's currents, and gets sent to the core to cool the machine down
Never noticed alphys signs the answers to the quiz show with her hands.
1:50:06 I've loved this game for several years now (since 2018 at least), and yet somehow, I don't remember ever seeing this easter egg.
Most people just go to sit instead of interacting with absolutely everything, I do that in every rpg
@@mariotheundying Like, I've seen the interactions with everything ELSE in the room, just never the drawer.
Dude this guy is literally me. I bought undertale about a week ago along with deltarune. Still my best decisions yet
Him: should I fucking bully the shit out of Alphys?
Alphys: I used to hate myself and I’m glad we’re friends now
RAHHH HAPPY BIRTHDAY UNDERTALE I watched most of this live and I’m so glad to have got to experience it

You kept flipping between "this song is awesome" and "this song is just a repeat" - no. the music is flat out awesome, but the word you are looking for is 'Motif' - same theme, different context/accompaniment/tempo/etc, often associated with a particular character.
Not sure if you noticed in situ of stream, but one cool thing I didn't see you notice in the vid here - the 'helpers' in the final neutral boss correspond with the weapons you get through the game (e.g. ballet shoes, frying pan, etc..), which are also the 6 other human souls.
it was a devious trick making us watch your livestream to see the true lab. thats a pretty huge chunk of plot skipped in this video
anyway it was nice seeing a blind undertale playthrough again, it's kind of nostalgic for me
i will do my duty as an undertale youtube commenter and say, if you wanna see what happens, it would be cool to see a no mercy playthrough. no pressure though, do what you want
I only just played it recently and it was the best thing I’ve done in my whole life.
Wonderful video! I found myself excitedly giggling almost the whole time because I just love this game so much :')
I've only recently found your videos since I got into Stardew Valley (and making gaming videos) not long ago. This one made me subscribe though; you seem like a really cool person and I also love drinking tea haha! :))
[edit to clarify: not on the channel I'm commenting this]
I love your voice, I love your logical playstyle and compassion, I love this so much I can’t express it adequately. This is perfect. Thank you so so much 🥹
Please don't let this masterpiece be ruined for you by the memes and the fandom as it was for me 🙏
man the undertale fandom's actually not so bad anymore. it was bad in like 2017-2018 ish. everyone's mellowed out nowadays
all fandoms are like that, they're really toxic for a few years then they chill out. Its because of a small group of trolls that enter into a fandom to stir up trouble then dip once no one is interested in the thing that created the fandom@@penntopaper9305
@@penntopaper9305 you skipped 2 years, I would say it was very toxic in 2015-2018 (saying this as a fan from early 2016), by the time Deltarune came out the fandom was calmed down
@@mariotheundying man i was an undertale fan from 2015. maybe its just cause i wasnt on the wider internet as much?? i remember choosing to leave the fandom in 2017 specifically because of how toxic it got
@@penntopaper9305 people were complaining about the fandom before 2017 so I think yeah you missed some stuff
Just watched the entire thing in one sitting, gonna go watch some of the vods now though so I can see the true pacifist stuff
I also played Undertale for the first time about a month ago and had avoided all spoilers as well! It really was lifechanging! (Or at least very, very good.) In 2016 I had played through The Ruins but that was it and never touched it again.
I will never fucking escape homestuck
While I highly agree, that it did start out that way, the fact that it stood on it's own merits is more important imo. It's even surpassed homestuck, and honestly, dispite loving the world building, I think undertale is much better, toby fox, at least, handles his success with grace
probably for the best
@@android19willpwn indeed. I heard the Homestuck hype culture was bad..
This is the first time I'm seeing this ending. Because in my playthrough I had to fight Asgore and I literally COULD NOT WIN it was so incredibly hard. I literally quit the game and never finished it lol.
I know to get to this part, I needed to do a pacifist run. But it was my first time playing and I didn't get the hints to be nice so easily lol. So I suffered and didn't play again lol.
asgore was easier then mettaton and muffet??
same ending the other human kids who fell down got lol
Just started the video, but it’s nice watching someone react to Undertale for the first time
I’ve played it several times and watched a lot of videos on the lore, so it’s cool watching the game through fresh eyes in a way if that makes sense
God I love several hour long videos like this, easy my favorite type of video since I primarily watch youtube in the background while doing other things
This is peak content.
-No overly exciting editing, just pure gameplay
-Blind walkthrough after 8 WHOLE YEARS
-Good humor
-W game
As someone who was 5 years late, I can relate
since this video came out, i would turn on this video and fall asleep. tonight, im watching the last of it. thank you gug for providing good, chill entertainment and being a good commentator. just enough humor and perfect tone of voice.
Great let’s play. If you play the game killing everything, the story/ending completely changes it’s like a whole different game. Would love to see you play it that way aswell!
Okay man, you are good at stardew valley, you are good at undertale. Man you are a jack of all trades! And also, really long videos! Subscribed, also this is this night's video ig
your so chill i could watch your vids for hours and say entertained and i also could fall asleep to them
I haven’t been able to enjoy TH-cam much lately but I’m super glad to see you’ve hit 200K subs! Congratulations, you truely deserve it! ❤
I also played for the first time in 2023 (without spoilers) Im 31 years old …but this game is life changing. Still never seen some routes, stay determined :)
accidentally watched the whole video instead of sleeping and was really worried about work but I got lucky and have it off today so good for me I guess
undertale is cool
Fun fact: During the game, in some specific bits, the game actually changes its name if you're not on Fullscreen.
During the Mettaton third encounter, when he's in a dress and singing, the game is named "Undertale: The Musical". Before Omega Flowey's battle, the game is named "Floweytale" as well. There are a few other examples, but those are the ones I remember
Thank you for sharing your experience with us, it was very enjoyable.
Duke Nukum: "If you like Undertale, play Deltarune"
55:17 i have literally never seen anyone start holding jump, see that they just keep going up even though they're blue, and then let go of jump in the middle of the bones. like i get this is your first time but what the hell.
its just muscle memory, honestly very understandable to not realize it at first
ive seen it happen before but i watched a LOT of undertale playthroughs when i was younger
❤️ *Playing Undertale in 2023 fills you whit Determination*
with* :p
I finally watched this video after 8 days
undertale always makes me cry
this was a good video thank u gug
Woah, I could have never avoided Undertale spoilers for 8 years. Like, this game is everywhere
How did you know I was going to sleep, I was specifically looking for an Undertale playthrough to fall asleep to, how did you guess 💀
I’m not done watching but I’ll be back later, I’m loving this so much I can’t express how perfect it is
I enjoyed the whole mouse on the screen for three hours thing but the undertale footage in the background distracted me from it here and there unfortunately
I never expected a blind playthrough of this game in 2023, this is a special kind of treat, honestly this game is such a good experience playing it for the first time what I would give to experience that again
15:06 I just noticed those dolls. Maybe Everyman Theory is on to something.
I only showed up in the last stream so it's gonna be exciting seeing how the whole thing went :)
Great video! Just a little tip: try to separate your narration from the live talking. Especially avoid talking over yourself, it can make it quite hard to hear what you're saying. Other than that, maybe add an echo or some effect to differentiate between the two voices? Anyway it's always fun to revisit Undertale.
only spoilers this guy has seen is: goat mom, sands
Blud really ate the pie in Toriel Fight.
Well the pie has infinite heal and Toriel fight is the only fight you can't die in.
you can die in the toriel fight and also it isn’t that deep, allow a man to enjoy his first playthrough in peace, it’s not like he’d know
a 'blind' playthrough but you still know to do a pacifist run bc the Internet has convinced streamers that a neutral ending on your first playthrough is bad and wrong
I did get the neutral ending though
@@nazberry6281Man. Y'all are why people don't like undertale fans. 😅
@@WaligugYou did good man, I've been enjoying things alot, and there's nothing wrong with how you played. Some people are very, VERY uptight about this game, it's silly.
@@Waligug Not really. The game kinda forces you into a pseudo neutral your first playthrough, but there are a lot of things that happened in the end of your playthrough that you won't get w a neutral run.
I'm not saying it's entirely impossible for you to come up with the idea of sparing/fleeing every single enemy with no knowledge whatsoever of this game's different endings and how fighting affects them, but it is pretty insane.
I see a lot of streamers get pushed to play like that on their first run because chat will rip them a new one if they play the game "wrong" by playing how most people do on a first run.
yo wali you have come far my dude, keep it up bro
YOOO I REMEMBER YOU 😭😭🙏🙏
@@Waligugbased moment 🗿🙏👍
3:00:20 umm, no traumadumping in #general, please
lmao
dude i 100% thought that this was gonna be a timestamp to some flowey or asriel dialogue cause got damn that guy can NOT stop projecting
@@penntopaper9305 that's more in the geno route tho
avoiding undertale spoilers for 8 years is like living in the middle of a mine field and you’re stevie wonder
What’s with the epilepsy warnings for times not in the video???
-Flowey’s DEFENSE dropped to 0! Paired with the music finale has to be the most hype moment in video game history. Undertale truly is the best game ever (in my opinion although it’s kinda objective)
You are insanely lucky to have not seen any spoilers about the game 😅
Bruh, I literally started the game this month and you are now the second tuber I've seen do the same. This feels a little crazy lol
3:03:00
"I'm kinda just a dude, being a guy, is this necessary?"
Absolute mood mate. Ugh.
Ps fun playthrough. Keep it up.
Bro, I had my phone on a shelf next to me as I slept and I have no recalection of watching 2:49:15 of undertale
49:26 you could just say he has a bone-er
Im glad he clarified that it was his first blind undertale playthrough. Thought it was his second blind playthrough
This video was a great watch and your editing is great. Are you ever going to go for the last route/ending? I don't want to spoil much, but trust me, it is REALLY good and makes this game come full circle. Seeing someone play through it blind would be really cool. If you want to know how to get this, (don't worry about me spoiling anything) you have to attack every monter you can-- which includes running around in rooms for encounters. But yeah, nice work.
Another Waligug movie W. Shoutout you for all the amazing content. Deltarune next?
Its always enjoyable to watch someones first playthrough
what did he do/who’d he kill to get the neutral ending i fell asleep during parts of the video 😭
he technically didn't get the neutral ending! you have to fight omega flowey to progress to the pacifist ending. he never killed anyone
Undertale is a legendary game
If i had 1G for every time he said "oh this is easy" then immediately gets hit id have the temmie armor by now
Spoiler free = LITERALLY KNOWS EVERYTHING!
Man heard three notes of snowdin and immediately went oh this songs fire
listening as background noise while writing an essay :D
I swear he was dodging heals better than he was dodging attacks in the flower fight 😭😭
The way he says "The memories are floOOoding back" gets me every time
Now do ALL 3 endings + ALL released deltarune chapters
My Mans Get to Feel the Feels
I feel like the next generations are missing on Undertale... honestly, we should revive it outside of "Haha funny skeleton man"
happy birthday undertale 💕
Watching someone play this after I just beat it for the first time a few days ago, it’s stunning that I didn’t notice that Dr. Alphys was faking it.
It hurts me so much seeing him not acting for mettaton fight 😭
