I was waiting for this feature forever! That was the best part of FL.
I've updated from Cubase 10 to 14. Huge difference and i'm watching all Dom's video's from 10.5 to 14. What a big upgrade. I think i can throw away alot of plugins i bought over the couple off years that are inside Cubase. The stock plugins are really amazing. I wan't to thank Dom for all his great tutorials. They are mindblowing. I've seen so get a little older from the videos that i've watched from 10.5 to now but you still have great tutorials and the same energetic vibe. From now on i will watch every video from you.
Been wanting this in Cubase for a long time. Hopefully, Nuendo update soon.
Me tooooooooo
Always amazed!
both u re amaZing
Dom n Steinberg🔥
So I got 14 Pro today, and playing around with it. Not bad at all! Every time I feel like there's no more improvement possible, the next Cubase Pro surprises with something new, several new interesting features once again.
Love you so much guys!!!!! You did it! You did it!!!!! Waiting for this feat and this add is maybe my christmas gift to me!! Thanks u!!!!!!!!! ❤❤
This is really nice. I like the way they are going making more features for creative things like the modulators and this. Would like to see a better arp next. Some crazy poly rhythmic, euclidean, scaling, looping, playback point-direction changing monster. I wish I could make one, have some crazy ideas for a arpeggiator.
+ Rachet
I guess you'd be able to build something in Reaktor. I've been planning something similar in Bitwig's Note Grid.
This Drum machine and step sequencer is beautiful, probably the best on market right now, really makes me want to leave ableton and go straight to Cubase instead going to Bitwig, but the thing that holds me is the Vertical Clip laucher which is combined with the mixer, I really cant leave that behind, its the most powerful feature for idea creation and creating combinations before writing it on time line or creating new arranges for different parts of the song. I was almost jumping in Bitwig cause they have not only the Vertical session view with the mixer but also the horizontal clip launcher with the timeline, but after seeing this new Drum Machine and step sequencer makes me want to try it
This is insane, absolutely love this. I can't help but notice that besides each track there is a speaker icon, does this mean that it is possible to have a multi audio output from here for each note? That would be insanely useful for, for example, Halion drum kits!
yes it is.
Amazing
awesome! That sounds and looks like a great addition. I like the integration of the patterns into the arrangement window.
This is what I miss from FL studio.. Can you convert midi drum editor to a pattern sequencer as well?
This is HUUUUGE! Drum Pattern + Drum Machine with import wave files ! Also Modulators rocks! I wait in the future the posibility when you`ll can convert midi drum editor to a drum pattern for other VST drum kits from another VST Instruments. In the midi editor down bellow we need: Midi Editor, Drum Editor (the old one,) Score editor AND Drum Pattern Editor! Or maybe a new BeatDesigner with individual steps for this??
One word Cubase ❤
very nice thanks
Awesome. Thanks for sharing!!!
I never really liked step sequencers but the parameters lane and its ease of use may change my workflow.
cubase you always get me
I love everything about this except the randomization. The random button needs a warning because it is *not* recorded in the Undo history so if you accidentally hit the button or mess with the slider, it will mess up your whole pattern and you can't undo it.
thank you dom sigalas
Finally!
cubase is really stepping up again! now some more sounddesign tools like spectral resonators, comb filters, and physical modeling..then they build a new improved community!
Is there a way to separate each drum sound after converting it to the midi part to its own track for using in the mixer? Thanks 🎉😊
imo that's something that you have to setup in plugin or drum machine rather than on pattern/midi part level.
You should route the individual kit pieces to their own tracks/outputs for this but yes, you can easily convert it to a midi part. On the event itself it has the name of the pattern and you can click on it to select different patterns. The bottom option is "Convert Pattern Event to Midi Part" and it will change everything to a regular MIDI event as if you never even used the pattern editor.
@stevenleonmusic Hi, thanks for getting back to me. Sounds great, and I will set that up. Have a nice day, Angelina
Probability !!! Finally !!
Is there a way to export the pattern as a WAV file directly inside the DAW?
Probably mute or solo and then render in place
There it go!
Great! Just great! Time to upgrade! :)
Wow, das ist so genial 😍👍
Thank you for the introduction, Dom!
Can Groove Agent and the pattern sequencer work together? E.g., can drum patterns from Groove Agent be transferred to the pattern sequencer and vice versa? Thanx! 😊
This is grand indeed. Cubase has now made FL-Studio completely obsolete! The only thing missing is a mixing console in order to have overall control to the drum sounds automate busses and route them to individual FX slots. Have I not found this feature, or will it be part of Cubase 15?
Great Update for Cubase 14 but the Patterns in FL Studio actually has way more functional optons
I would have loved to see better integration with Groove Agent, but this is a great feature.
its nice that its FL inspired.
Way to GO CUBASE! Just watched Bitwig release a half baked embarrassing sequencer that this BLOWS AWAY!
Finally 🥳
Thanks for your video. I have a question. Can notes be tied in the Pattern Sequencer? I think that feature is there in Cubases' step designer.
Hey Dom. Let's say I convert such a pattern to a MIDI part, what will happen to the pitch and pan steps?
Thank u studio one 😅😅 cubase 🙏 i'm here
I love the pattern sequencer so far. Definitely a great addition to my workflow. Question: is it possible to activate the single steps with an external controller with a TR-Style Sequencer button row, like on Arturia SparkLE?
Can I also convert a midi part to pattern? So I can use leads and stuff I've built on synths and then add some probability and randomization to it?
HI Dom, I have loaded Halion with the drum Editor, loaded The house of 80's Kit, created drum map from instrument and only have drums on C1 - F1 the keyboard on Halion shows drums C1 - F sharp 2 but not in the editor Cubase 14? I'm using The Modern 80's Kit Max.
Dom when making these videos your using a too high a resolution screen making seeing what you are doing on the monitor very difficult. Lower the res of the monitor so it is clear and easy to follow.
That's really cool, but I really like to use custom groove patterns instead of the normal swing. Is there a way to use the groove from the quantize panel instead of swing?
Is it possible to make the pattern Made in the sequencer a midi pattern?
Great additions. Wish it had undo. And wish the drum machine was re-sizeable. It's very small on my screen.
Can you restrict it to a scale when used with melodic sounds?
Logic's one seems to, Studio One's sadly doesn't, Reason's Polystep sequencer does and Drum Sequencer doesn't.
+ 100 this would be a great feature for melodic patches
What I miss in Cubase is a way to open a select set of plugin windows at once and/or close them. For example to open all the analyzing and measurement plugins from the Control Room. Is there any way? I haven't found it. I am working on a single big screen and this is seriously buggin' me out about Cubase. In Bitwig, I can use a macro to create a hotkey that opens the plugin windows I assign it to. Otherwise Cubase 14 looks massive! I have used Cubase professionally from version 5 up to 8-ish
Finally! Take my money (again).
does it work on OS monterey?
Can the pattern lanes be reversed so the kick drum (c1) is on the bottom?
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
The beat designer and the lowerzone had a baby.
When I open "Add Track", Everything is there except "Drums", and "Event Type". What am I missing??
Nevermind! I'm an idiot: when I clicked on my song Icon, it is still set to open Cubase 13. I need to change my .cpr, and bak files to open Cubase 14. Thanks!
Pattern sequencer is a great idea, but a half finished idea.. for example: if you create a midi track you cannot add a CC parameter lane for hardware instruments, which is very annoying.
They really need to go to town on this side of cubase and make it fully featured, its potentially a game changer.
Cuando creo una pista nos me sale la opción de sampler ni la de drum machine, no que es??
can it do polymeter, like 5 against 4
Dom, What is the giant monitor that you use???
Cajavec 522
Great. Modulators came in 14 too. So If Cubase implements clip launcher/sketch I will leave FL Studio, Ableton and Bitwig.
What is the max number of steps?
I do wish you could randomize versions of a previous groove... busier/sparser kick/snare/hats, etc.
I was thinking this too, but using the probability tool on each hit achieves this without having to make multiple patterns
i wish ableton had this natively....
Can this create a pattern with different subdivisions? E.g. a pattern with kick and snare in 16ths and hi-hat in triplets?
yes, the 1/16 etc dropdown controls the subdivisions. You can also make the kick 16 steps and the conga 13 steps or whatever for polymeters
Did you watch the video ?
It reminds me of FL Studio's pattern sequencer.
You got my money!
but you still have to draw the blocks in? where is the midi trigger of patterns?
really nice and powerful pattern editor! but the pastel color scheme for pads/sounds is just awful, would be great if you could select colors from the same color pallete as for tracks/channels/parts (therefore allow for custom colors).
💥
it' seem like bitwig
but possible part of something cut, drag and drap to note?
RIP FL Studio
features very similar to sugar bytes drum computer😊
The only thing missing is being able to extend the steps (for instance: length extended to two steps but have 5 repeats…. EPIC polyrhythmic programming). Still buying, though. 🥴🙌🏽
Yea but what about adding notes manually using the midi keyboard beyond me why its not there
Please add this to Cubasis 3 and it will be the perfect iOS daw
Another great demo Dom.
With great respect, may i politely correct your pronunciation of variances, as it may not be understood so well. It's phonetically "vairyances" like fairy. Emphasis on Vairy. Hope you don't mind, but you have a hugely wide audience of nationalities.
Guys! Can't I make Bounce Selection on a Drum Machine?
different lengths per element? easy polyrythms, no?
🎉🎉🎊🎊🎊🥇🥇🥇🥇
So Beat Designer never existed ? 😄
I have the latest version of Cubase 13 installed and it is infinitely better than Cubase 14! especially in performance.
Very disapointed there is no live recording in the sequencer. And no undo redo. Geist 2 is still on the top for me.
It's a shame you can load your own individual samples into the pattern :(
Great tragedy!!! On Mac it crashes constantly, there are serious missing symbols in the score, which seems to work, when it doesn't stop, don't buy it!!!!
No Beat Jumping with the patterns Like in Beatdesigner??? WTF
Slow down plz can not follow U at all
