Would love to have seen an auto-slice feature for chopping loops like Groove Agent has. I know there’s many workarounds to this, but it would’ve been a nice additional feature. Great video as always!
This is fantastic, I like having things like this itb rather than so many overdone plugins. I like the clean interface and flexibility of the drum machine in cb14, definitely going to upgrade!
finally!!!!! Well needed. Cubase workflow has been in the dinosaur ages for a while. Finally gets brought up to date with Ableton. Very very exciting, upgrade incoming!!
Thank you fot the video, question, how manny samples be loaded in the drummachine. And could i use my mk3 machine to control Roosendaal dr machine pads? Thanks
Wow! A great tool for me. I love this drum machine tool. I have a question. On the group page, pads can be directed to individual outputs. Where do these output appear? Can I assign these outputs to separate mixer channels?
I was actually considering getting the new Komplete Select 15 Beats, mainly because of Battery 4 (I don't care too much about the other stuff that comes with it, I see them just as bonuses). But now with this new drum machine on Cubase 14, maybe if I spend the money updating my Cubase Artist 13 to 14, instead of KS15, this new drum machine will do most of what battery 4 would do, and I still get the other things in this update. Do you think that makes sense or i got it all wrong?
I think you'll get bigger sample/sound library with Battery, but Battery is sample-based only (no synth engines) and not-scalable non hidpi UI might be a dealbreaker. from the looks of it seems new Cubase drum machine is quite powerful. I would assume you may route specific pads to different channels in the mixer and add additional processing if needed. I would also recommend checking NI's Maschine 3 software, which can be operated without a controller, has drum synths (not fm though) and does more in general than Cubase's drum machine. But maybe other new Cubase features are more worth to you than Maschine features :) (and it is also not scalable non hidpi UI).
@@hpitura Firstly, thanks for your input. Reagarding the not scalable non hidpi UI, yeah, not a dealbreaker for me but certainly a disadvantage. Regarding the lack of drum synthesys on battery 4, that´s not really a problem to me because I already own D16 Group drumachines ( 808, 909 and 606) which are great IMO and have plenty of capabilities . On the other hand, I have loads of samples that I'd like to tweak and experiment with (including some NI expansions). So yeah, Battery 4 (or C14 drum machine) would serve me mostly as a sampler, not really as a drum synth (even though that could be a plus). And yes, in both cases (Battery4 or C14 DM) I would have the Pads/Cells signed to different outputs. Moreover, I'm aware that Groove Agent SE would have the "sampler part" well covered, but as I was away from music production for many years and coming back now (got Cubase artist 13 a few months ago) I didn't explore GA yet (and honestly kinda lazy about starting it) and I'm much more used to Battery's UI, as I used Battery 2 back in the days. This is actually the main reason I'm considering getting Battery 4 instead of just learning how to use GA properly (lazyness/ learning curve / better UI). But now this new C14 drum machine appeared to make things more ''complicated'' :) (meaning, have to decide between these 2 different approaches/where to invest the +-100 bucks).
Great tool. I have a question. Is it possible to save the drum kit I created so I can use it in another song? I can't find a way to do that. Thank you very much.
Does FL studio own the rights to the floating channel rack? It's the one thing that makes it's drum programming easier and better than other daws but no other Daw incorporates it and I don't know why. Having to create a midi event, open a drum track, load a sound is too many steps when you just want to quickly make a groove. Should be able to just grab a drum sound drag it and start clicking a pattern. Then fold and unfold the piano roll. It's very simple.
@@KenshoBeats Tested, works like that. Would be great if it provided some feedback as to why certain files are not accepted, but generally it's functional.
Less syllables than "in-context preview" I suppose - whatever you want to call it, it's still an incredibly useful feature for quickly auditioning new samples in the context of a mix.
Seems C14 is deep diving into tools for edm/pop/etc music genres. Not my genre unfortunately. Doesn’t seem to be much for natural sounding recordings in this release.
Where are the samples you drop into Drum Machine saved? It is really needed that we have the option to save the samples into the song folder!!!! Nothing worth than opening a song that you did in the past and samples are missing! Have a separate folder in the Song or Audio folder called "Drum Machine Samples" where the samples are saved when you save the song!
After Cubase 14 came out, I completely quit Ableton. Drum Rack is there, Ulility is there, Mixer and Sends are together, only very few colors of customization, and the gradations of colors are dull, and there are no gray, white and black.
I also switched from Ableton but i have one doubt. How can we play hi hats in different pitches in piano roll using this ?? Like in Ableton after dissolving drum rack if we delete drum rack we can play in octaves but here i don't knw how to do that??? Pls help me🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
The padshop seemed too overcomplicated for drum writing, and didn't have the drum synth inside. Just because of this feature, I'm considering the upgrade...
Why does everything you are doing sounds so hip hop. Will it do classic rock, pop and country beats ? Please do some examples of drum patterns other than rap and hip hop dude.
@suyashmishra6083 if I load custom samples into the drum machine, the files get referenced from their original file location instead of being copied into the project folder on my hard drive. This is unlike the sampler track where I don't run risk of having lost the files in the future.
So what can I say??? I'm not going to be complacent because I have nothing to sell. The drum track is a pale copy of groove agent but the worst is that it is impossible to drag and drop from a groove agent pad to the drum machine!!! It's stupid! Why ? Demonstration: you load a drum sample loop into the sampler control, there you slide your loop and you want to export your samples. Two possibilities: Groove agent or Halion or backbone for example. Impossible to extract your samples to the “drum machine”!!! stupid ! You therefore export to GA and there it is impossible to put your samples in the “drum machine” Stupid! This drum track is an internal BAR for those who don't have a drum VST but nothing interesting or useful for people with GA or other drum VSTs. In addition, there are a significant number of BUGS... This is the release of a beta. When you have to choose a kick the smartest thing would have been to hear the different sounds before choosing it!!!! No, you have to load the sample and then you can listen to it! Absolutely unfinished product!
I've always loved how other DAWS are taking the simplicity of dragging, dropping, and clicking from FL Studio or Ableton, but they always get it wrong and overcomplicate it. It's literally drag, drop and click in the sounds. They will NEVER get it right until it takes as many or fewer clicks as FL Studio.
That’s a creative choice to bring the focus to the screen so we’re not staring at all the cool stuff on his desk when that’s not what he’s talking about.
Ironically Ableton has had this for years with the ability to drop your own one shots into any pad as well as individual pad effects. Ohh Cubase come on.
hell yes steinberg. If i wasn't already convinced by cubase 13, 14 is definitely the final piece to the puzzle
..omg, the new drum machine seems like the best from logic and ableton into one beast!! its amazing!!

what a gem. steinberg, you rock! thank you
Looks fun this new add-in Dom. Must DL latest 14 over the weekend 😎👊💥
Very nice edition. Looking forward to this. Can Groove Agent kits be loaded into Drum Machine?
the asymmetric distortion here is underrated, sounds so nice, kind of like Distroyer.
what is fun is that u can modulate these parameters I guess with the new modulators...
This is a game changer!
Amazing! 👍👍👍
Thanks for not copying the samples into the project folder. I'm now definitely enclined to use this.

Crazy 🤯🔥
This is awesome. Can you round robin the layers when using samples?
Amazing job guys!
Hope I could select drum sounds from my many Toontrack Ezx / sdx library that sounds much more authentic for non dance / electronic music
Is groove quantize still missing from this great tool?
please make a video about, how to take audio melody (singing) and convert it into midi.
Can we get a note repeat on the drum machine?
00:24 I want a monitor that big! What size is that bruh?

Very nice. Thank you!!!
I wonder If exporting a drum machine kit to groove agent is in the roadmap? Similarly to opening/exporting a sampler track to groove agent.
just for this, it will be my early xmas gift to meeeeeee !! lol Anyone know what his keyboard is on his desk?
What about sample chopping
Isn't that what the audio track is for? If you get any audio track and just dump it in the project the audio editor comes up and you can chop it....
What Steinberg could fix is, as soon as I load another preset, I have to re-route the out ports for kick, snare and so on.
1:34 Preset "Retro ROMance" is a Linn?
How to save preset with the audio samples i add ?
Should I replace Groove Agent with this? Are Groove Agent kits compatible?
This is way better than just using GA alone and using the drum midi scheme
How to play in all pitches using this??? Like i want to play some notes in different note
OK, what's with the monster video monitor? is that for real? It looks like it's 3 x 4 feet.
hi Dom, can you save your kit after building
Can you load plugins into the slots, eg kick3 or DC snares etc?
nope. its not ableton live unfortunately. all generators and processors you can use here are native to this plugin only

Just create a template with the Drum Track and use that.
how can i add my progression with my midi keyboard instead using my mouse
Any coupon codes? 100 bux for an upgrade every year or so is getting kinda old.
Do we still Need NI Maschine
can I slice a drum loop to drum machine?
So still not able to insert 3rd party plugins directly to each pad? it seems like we still have to using multi-output channel.
Weird, presets won't load for me. They flash up and go blank
Can you send each cell output to different individual mixer channels?
I was hoping this would've been covered in this video. But I've found a workaround.
Yes, where it says "Group" at the top (really should be called "Mixer") you can assign up to 32 individual outputs.
@@coldskoolbeatz Yeah, later I saw it is possible.
Can I feed it my own sampled drum sounds?
if you look veeeeeery closely at 2:20, you should have your answer.

You can load your own samples.
Jesus Christ I almost just bought 13... Wasn't that just released not so long ago?? 😆 Feels like it......
Yes. I bought it a few months ago and barely used it yet :/
Guys! Can't I make Bounce Selection on a Drum Machine?
"hot swap" sounds lol. NI Battery ca. 2010?

does it have round robin, or random robin?
and multi-verlocity-layer. or actually just put a randomize pitch, velocity, sth.
Simply use modulators inside cubase@@muuroonggeooffrey246
i'm wondering this too
🎉
wOOOOOOW
is GrooveAgent over?😢
I hope Cubase 14 has a voice changer male to female or female to male

It's too bad nothing sounds like real drums. It sounds like the old drum machine I had back in the 80s and 90s.

i don't think they realize how far away it actually is?
Still there is a unnecessary tittle bar , fix this for more space for laptop users.
Do it like cubase 11 and 12. Just need a title update. 🤌
