I never understood why Extreme was never a bigger band than it became. Was it hair metal or grunge that kept them under the radar? Each member of the band is a great musician and singer, They were an odd genre though kind of alt fusion rock but I love it. Nobody can play guitar better than Nuno.

Then Gary auditioned for VH after Mitch Malloy left due to Alex and Eddie teasing everyone appearing on MTV with Dave. Extreme were split up for 10 years total but Gary and Nuno remained friends throughout. Nuno discussed a lot of this in a couple of interviews with Sammy Hagar that kinda filled in the holes in the story and seemed genuine to me. Gary also talked about Nuno being at the 5150 studio and supporting him and the stuff he did with VH. Nuno really comes across as a class act… well they both do really. It’s good to see them back making music together again.

20 years on and this performance still blows my mind. Extreme were unbelievable on this day, showing how much Freddie and Queens' music meant to them. Undeniably the best act at the tribute..Made me proud to be a Bostonian.Great job guys.
This is the band that never got the recognition they deserved...so good live and been a fan since they began. Nuno and Gary get all the plaudits but Pat is such a brilliant, underrated bassist (made me want to play bass ie "get the funk out") with good background vocals plus Paul was a Brill drummer that didn't need loads of kit to get a big sound, these guys need more world wide attention.
Totally agree, Satriani levels of guitar skill with songs to rival G'n'R, plus they were cool as shit. I just never understood why they didn't get that extra level of recognition.

This is the only clean copy of the second half of the set that I've been able to find. Well done and thanks a lot. Because without that "Radio Gaga", the whole thing is just a little less awesome.
As a guitar player, I felt a bit frustrated that Nuno didn't play the riff for Fat bottomed girls or the solo in I want to break free in the first part. But watching that crowd clap there hands on Radio Gaga totally makes up for it 😊❤️🙏

They even hired the same guy who did the orchestra for Queen. Unfortunately, I can't find any CD copy of Three Sides anymore, at least here in Manila.

Brian May was annoyed that it should be Axl, Elthon and George Michael singing queen songs, not Extreme. But after this performance, Elthon even kissed Nuno out of joy. And it was the best performances of the day

They got big at the end of the hair metal era. Just as they were getting big ,grunge came along.
