Hey. Tip here. I know I said this would be a 3 part series. But guess who has 2 thumbs, a hemorrhoid, and wrote a 30 page finale? That's right... me. Part 4 (the finale) is already written, and will be out very soon!
I would love it if you'd do a lore dump of the Night Springs DLC. The first two episodes are honestly not that lore heavy and you can probably blow past them in like 10 minutes or less. But Time Breaker.. Time Breaker is an absolute hurricane of lore, for the entire Remedy Verse.. Quantum Break, Control, Alan Wake 2.. it all plays in, hard.
Babe wake up, New Ala....Babe?...I have to keep writing. Outside there's only darkness, outside the cabin, outside the story, there's only darkness. I can feel her presence in the dark.
The alarm at the FBC station with the AWE alert: this is what Langston is talking to Jesse about at the end of Control, the warning that's coming from the future...
Yes. The question is how that works, because obviously the timelines are all over the place. Jesse sees the alert years before it goes off, but also Estevez’s team is dispatched in response to that alert and arrives days after Saga sees it trigger, not days after Jesse sees it. But *also* also, Jesse is searching for Alan in the Dark Place before the alarm goes off?? Because she appears to him in the Oceanview once during a meeting with Tom and once during his investigation of the play. And we still have absolutely no idea how much Jesse is involved or what she’s doing. She’s obviously not on-site and she doesn’t appear alongside Darling in his messages but she is trying to contact Alan in some way at some point during the spiral (which now is maybe completed???). None of it makes sense.
I've said this all before but it still feels worth saying. I already follow several channels which do retrospectives and lore. I love your storytelling, your timing and inflexions really help set the mood. Your personality comes through and gives the storytelling so much energy.
Fun, irrelevant detail: the proper Finnish pronunciation of Huotari, as far as I can tell, is very, very close to "Watery", implying that the whole town is actually supposed to be called Huotari but the name got Ellis Islanded when the town incorporated. It's also apparently derived, via Russian, from the Greek name "Theodoros", meaning "gift from god".
So I know y'all say Rose is Alan's Lady of the Light, but can we get a lil respect his og Barry the Homie of the Light. That man was a beacon of hope and security theoughout the first game. I'm convinced he doesn't make an appearance in the second because it would completely tank the horror vibes. He just shines too brightly.
the thing i love about the story of alan wake is that it is an analogy for trying to recreate a successful story when you your self have no idea if it is even possible. the person that did the body work for cassy, and writer for the alan wake series is the same guy that did the body work and wrote the first two max payne games and based cassy so heavily on max payne that many people say that he is max payne in all but name. the first alan wake was about him trying to let out the pressures of writting "the next max payne" game when that is not what he wanted to do, and this game represents the depression, anger, and self hate that comes with trying make something everyone will love but your not sure if anyone would even like.
"I created this world, but first came the word." I am still very much in the "Alan Wake is literally God" camp. The 'He cannot create things, only manipulate what's already there' rule I think is a self-imposed character error. Like Door said, Alan "insists on going through these restrictions and rules," clearly implying he doesn't *have* to. As such I think it's an error to even talk about the 'real world,' because like they explain in Time Breaker.. that is a meaningless distinction. It's all real. I don't think the chalkboard in Quantum Break was a mistake, discussing both 'Let there be light,' and how dark mater created the universe.
I want to add a comment. I'm new to your channel and videos, but am becoming a huge fan. I've watched other synopses of same or similar titles and what I've learned is that you are light years ahead. Not only do you summarize and present clearly, you insert thoughts and feelings that we all have experienced during our playthroughs and shared experiences. I listen to you articulate why and how you came to decisions or conclusions and I think back and realize I had the same or similar thoughts and feelings. I am unsure if this is a guy thing, but you seem to be able to clearly convey those feelings to others in a way I know I could not and others do not on TH-cam. I think few could give the details and clearly articulate feelings we had while playing and watching the story. So thank you, and cant wait to enjoy more of your content.
This is my favorite channel when it comes to Lore of videogames, the scripts are well written and the voice and timing are on point. You deserve way more views!
I'm so glad I stumbled across your Alan Wake series. As it turns out, I had a better grasp on the plot of Alan Wake 2 than I thought while playing, but I've still learned tidbits here and there. Even though I know most of the things you're saying, I watch every video because I love your voice, delivery, and the way you construct your scripts. It's no exaggeration to say that I look forward to each video, so much so that there are days when I open youtube specifically to check if you've posted another installment. Thank you, and keep up the exemplary work!
I was just watching a writing video about world building that referenced alan wake, and thought "I wonder if tiptoe has part 3 out yet." And saw it released 32 minutes prior. Am I another part of the spiral willing things to be? To be determined.
Ive been diving into these games myself and kinda just started listening to this while i was working a long double shift. When this video ended and the playlist paused I had this moment of like sudden realization that i was way **wayyyy** sucked in by how well you tell the story. And my immediate selfish feeling of "oh wait the last part isn't out yet" turned into "holy crap this person is awesome jeez what else can i listen to!!!" Like blessed. New fan. Stay awesome!
i love these! just finished alan wake 2 and half way through control now as i’m watching all these alan wake and control lore videos on your page and i have to say me and my gf are a lot less confused on things for the most part 😅
If you haven't yet, definitely seek out and play Quantum Break too. While they claim it's not part of the Remedyverse it clearly clearly clearly is, very directly, and you'll get a ton of perspective on characters like Door and Tim Breaker out of it.
ooh I'm only at 32:28 but I recognize the spiral on the door as being one of the doors in the Oceanview Motel in Control! I've been playing it for the first time pretty much non-stop over the past week (don't worry, I'm well into the post-game content so none of this feels like a spoiler for me) and it's interesting seeing certain things popping up here and there and thinking like "ooh is that an easter egg from control or is this gonna mean something here?!!?"
It's the symbol for Alan's writing room door in the nursing home (the location the Dark Place writing room is based on). You could call it Wake's symbol -- the spiral, symbolizing his nonlinear, looping path out of the Dark Place. It could also be called Alice's symbol, because the spiral was her plan.
A mind palace is called a "Loci", Tip. Name taken from the "Method of Loci". It's a real memory technique, also expounded upon in Giordano Bruno's "Hermetic Art of Memory"
I love this comment! Thank you! Fun fact: this series was meant to have live action segments. Because of intense winter storms, I lost a lot of production time and couldn't pull it off. There was a section dedicated to discussing the IRL applications of the "mind palace". I regret not integrating it into the script better.
@@TiptoeTheTank Dedicated video? I think we'd probably watch an hour long video of you talking about the historical lore of drying paint at this point. Alan Wake and control content are easy wins.
I'm at 2.5 playthroughs and Cynthia has caught me EXACTLY one time and I had to pause and leave the room for a minute to recover after that one time. I have the routing for that room puzzle burned into my soul now so that I can avoid experiencing that again, ha!
The way you put all of this 2gather , you are a Fckin legend , we should start a cult after you , the cult of the lady of the lore ... i wish i could support you on pterion , but you know what , i love you
I would love to see a discussion between The Lady with Gaming University and Hidden Machines. Would be great different points of view. on some of those unanswered mysteries
Please, please, dear god please do an Umineko lore video. I'm not alone surely, right? I can't imagine anyone else cracking that particular egg nearly as elegantly.
Hey. Tip here. I know I said this would be a 3 part series. But guess who has 2 thumbs, a hemorrhoid, and wrote a 30 page finale? That's right... me.

Pfft, only two thumbs and one hemmorrhoid? You're losing your touch, and that collection of thumbs
Keep doing you, these videos are amazing!!!
Ouch and ouch.
Eagerly waiting for part four!

Trying too hard to be clever

Hearing Tip explain the lore of Alan Wake, is like slowly untangling a jumbled bundle of cords. It's satisfying.
I've said this all before but it still feels worth saying. I already follow several channels which do retrospectives and lore. I love your storytelling, your timing and inflexions really help set the mood. Your personality comes through and gives the storytelling so much energy.
Thank you! This is highly encouraging. 💓

I am genuinely delighted that it has turned out to be 4 parts. Incredible work as always

I have been summoned by the LORE
Woooo!!!!! More Alan Wake is always needed, especially with how my day’s been going. Also Odin and Tor are some old kooks but dammit they’re amazing.
Love this series so far. I'm not sure if I'll ever get to Allan Wake but at least I have this wonderful audio drama to fill in the lore.
Watching this lore while I'm halfway through The Final Draft is very satisifying
Amazing absolutely brilliant work, loved every minute of this, it made the game make much more sense to me.

It is absolutely a cluster fuck. And I love it.

Yesss i just finished pt.2 last night. So excited to watch this in its entirety
How serendipitous, just finished part 2 last night.

Rewatching every part you did after releasing a new one and you bet I'm gonna rewatch them again when the 4th part comes out
To quote another recent video "SAM LAKE! YOU HACK! (affectionately)"

Alan Wake finale!
"Say the Words" The Cult of Tree/Words/Lore. I don't understand Anything but it is Perfect.... Perfect...... hehehehe....
Great video

When you think really hard on it: which of your memories and experiences felt like someone else was writing you into their story?
I AM COFFEE ☕

"Make the woods scary again"
C'mon, guys....
😔
Your vids should come with the games, cause It's the only way I can make sense of 'em
Thank God Alan changed out those funky pocket pants from...
👖 Still keeping it high and tight jeans 👖
They could have easily made this into a Resident Evil clone now that I think about it. I would have loved that tbh. The inventory? 😫👌
My name is Alan Wake and I'm a writer
Please do not use these comments for evil Mr Wake
Did the FBI already know all about the FBC?
Thank goodness, it's almost been 24 hours since I thought about Alan Wake
Nooooooo, the cliffhanger !!
Huehuehueheuheu
These Thresholds am I right?
Aw yss. More lore.
What if Mr Door is Saga AND Wakes father
Bruh.
Is The Dark Place just a metaphor for depression? 🤔
More of a metaphor for self-destruction and negativity, but you bet, depression is in there.
Imagine if Deputy Hawk had to battle Margaret Lanterman to the death after the phone call in S3E15.
pretty crazy how much you're drawing this out, i mean it's not really a lore video, just a summary.
Yöyön yö isn't pronounced "juton ju", not even close xD
It's not a lore, it's a MANUSCRIPT
