I had both at the same time, and the SG sent the LP packing. It has an aggressive bite, much tighter, and clarity the LP didn't. Of course there's a lot more mass with an LP, so it will naturally sound bigger. The 490R/490T pickups are much better than the '61's.. SG's rock pretty hard. Love mine.

Love the look of Les Paul's but have always gravitated towards SGs. Simply LOVE the extra "bite" and rawness of an SG. Keep it rockin'!
