Hi Friends!! Instead of flying off to begin our IVF journey abroad in Prague this month, my husband and I started painting our house! I could never have guessed a pandemic would "ruin" our trip we had been saving for and planning for several years.... but as a true optimist, I couldn't let that get me down (at least not for longer than the few days I cried about it after it was canceled). We quickly picked ourselves back up and knew we needed to keep busy and stay positive. We had planned to start this house project at the end of summer but why wait!? Life is unpredictable sometimes =) Let me know in the comments below what you think of the transformation!?

I would never have dreamed that a black porch could be so attractive. The transformation is unbelievable. I have always liked the eclectic look that mixing eras and styles produces. Back in the 70's when the look was modern I was thrifting antiques to blend with the new and have never tired of the look. Amazing job you have done on your home...wow.

Your porch looks absolutely AMAZING! I recently painted my house black with white trim (turquoise door-1950 ranch), and everybody doubted my vision, but all my neighbors LOVE it 🤣

Laura, your front porch came out so warm and inviting! I love the black (classic!) and letting your plants be the stars of the show it absolutely perfect. Painting to make all the wooden pieces cohesive was brilliant and the wicker chairs and hanging egg chair make me want to come and sit for awhile! You guys hang in there. I absolutely love the transformation. Painting the porch black, the steps white, adding white trim, and terra-cotta pots. Made it. Also painting the plant stand black was perfect. Great job! The red flowers pop

Here's a little tip. In between coats, put your paint brush into a plastic bag or wrap it in plastic wrap and put into the fridge. It will stay moist even until the next day. Then you don't have to wash out the brush as often, and lose a lot of paint in doing it. I enjoyed this video!!

My love, pray to Saint Anne. I mean it. She is the patron saint of mothers, laboring women, women who long to conceive. I was not raised Catholic. I am more pagan than anything else. But I have been a blessed mother and grandmother. Twice I have prayed to Saint Anne, to help family members conceive. It worked. Love your heartfelt energy!

Smart painting hack. We are about to transform our ole nasty back porch into a cool sunroom. I need strength! Love that light fixture. My hubby is an electrician so I’m in to lighting. Well he was an electrician for 30 yrs. he is about to get his license to be a home inspector.really excited for him second career. It’s easier and he want work nearly as much. Things should get easier as you get older. Definitely didn’t want him working in the electrical field into his later yrs. my dad did it and its hard. Climbing on roofs and going into basements, working long hours. He only had to go to school six months to be able to take his state boards for home inspection. But he has all those yrs in construction. It helped. That’s why I got him doing the sunroom. And a complete background makeover. Love your porch! Great job. It’s so nice! Love everything about it. My husband and I painted our secondary home in Florida the exact same color blue with white trim. We also painted the front door yellow. Lots of great comments from our neighbors about how they love the colors. I love your black deck! I would never have thought to paint a deck that color, but yours looks amazing! Great job!!
