Thanks so much for your video. Got a quote from infinity for 567 dollars. You have probably helped many people like me. Have almost 120k miles on 2011. Hope to get 175k before trade in.
Hi there, I have a question regarding removing the throttle body, when you put it back do u need to do an idle relearn? other than that super informative video
I didn't as I tried bot to disturb the throttle body plates too much. Just quick clean and reinstall. No issues for me. Wouldn't hurt to do it by the manual tho
Hey i like your video. Did you use torque tools for any of the bolts or spark plugs. I do not have any torque wrenches and was wondering if I could still just do it by hand.
Yes you should don’t listen to him. The moment you need to change spark plugs you might as well do preventive maintenance on the valve cover gaskets. These crack and get hard over time. That way you don’t have to worry about a oil leak in the future. Not only that but there’s also the spark plug gaskets on the cover and if it goes bad then oil will leak on your ignition coils and spark plugs which can mess with your ignition process and cause misfiring. Better to be safe than sorry.
just replaced mine i smell a little bit of gas i saw it’s because i have to tighten my spark plugs more is that true? other then that the car runs fine
Hey! i did not pull my battery terminal off but it wouldn't hurt to consult a shop manual quick just to be sure of the proper method. I have not looked at the manual but i am willing to bet it says to remove the negative terminal before completing the work. the reason i recommend checking the manual first is i did just have a startup and stall issue last week. when i looked it up it recommended cleaning the throttle bodies and the MAF sensors and doing the relearn procedure on the TB's. - So i would recommend disconnecting the battery, changing the plugs then cleaning the TB's and MAF sensors and doing the relearn procedure quick. just to avoid any issues down the road. Best of luck! keep us posted!
@@MetalDetailer oh my bad wrong vid, in both of my socket sets they came with a long ext that is approx 8 inches and that worked fine with a 3/8s ratchet and spark plug socket.

hey man, coil packs should only reach their respective cylinders with the wiring to the coils IIRC. If she wont start you may have to do the relearn procedures on the throttle bodies. best of luck!

Not a mechanic but when ur broke u learn to do things yourself lol.
Well done and explained , THANKS 👍

What manuals do you use, and how effective is it?
Didnt use a manual.
I have the same work coming next week. Should I change all 6 coils while I'm at it. Or are the spark plugs just fine
I personally would just do the spark plugs.
@@McGo101 Will do thanks for your reply!

Thanks man. Hope it helped. I didn't use any torque wrenches myself. Tight but not overtight like usual and you shouldn't have any issues.
Use locktite as well so they don't get stuck!
Do you have to replace the plenum gasket when changing the spark plugs?
nope not to do spark plugs.

Decent video but disconnected the battery cable which is prudent. Also clean throttle bodies while they are exposed with CRC cleaner
What is the at piece called on the driver side of the throttle body
Not quite sure I sold the car abt a yr ago

would a 14 mm 3/8” spark plug socket work ?
no 9/16
i am sorry yes 14mm will work

Did you have to gap these? They come in .044 out the box so I’m wondering if that’s fine
Should be fine but worth double checkin in the manual quick to be sure
What tool and size bolt did you use to remove the throttle body?
A star bit on a screwdriver and an Allen key is what I used to get them off. I can't remember what size off hand tho
Thanks! I’m having trouble getting the hose off so that I have room...
@@lealogisticsfreight2150 jus be patient and you will get it no prob!
Hi i would like to know where did you buy these spark plugs from a website?
Yup i got mine from rock auto, waaay cheaper than local parts shops
Did you do the idle check after you have put the throttle body back on?
nope, i did not have to when i did mine. no issues.
Unless you disconnect the sensor you shouldn't have to
I only have a 1/2 inch socket, do i need to get a 3/8? I’m not familiar with socket wrenches
Yea u will need a 3/8s ratchet
Should I go with oem is there a cheaper plug I can use
Oem all the way. Got mine on rock auto pretty cheap
Same for 2015 q40?
If it has the 3.7 then yep.
How long of an extension would you say is needed?
For the belt tensioner? Probly a foot long changing it from the top side

dont have to unless your having issues with miss fire ect
