    Tully Blanchard, Arn Anderson, Barry Windham, and The Nature Boy Ric Flair: Without any question the best Four Performers Ever Assembled as a Unit. All Great Workers and in my opinion Tully shined the brightest among his fellow Horseman on many of occasions.

    Best heel in wrestling from 84 to 89
    I tuned into JCP for 4 years every saturday and my main goal was hoping to see Tully get his ass kicked.
    When Dusty came in the Midnight Rider outfit and attacked Tully at the end of a program that was the happiest I felt at the end of a JCP TV program

      Part of his heat gathering was the conviction of John Q Public that they could kick his ass. Tully escaped consequences on the regular, and that kept the crowds coming back all those years, to see his ass nailed once and for all. Never happened. The bad guy won a lot, just like in real life.

    Tully has a great look. I remember watching him, and Barry Windham on NWA when my cousin would come babysit us. Then we'd go put the figure 4 leg lock on each other to see how painful it was. Pizza and wrestling. Can't beat it. Thanks for making my childhood memorable

    James, great interview. I enjoy hearing Tully tell stories. He is definitely a diplomatic presenter. That leaves a person a way out😂
    In regards to the "Old Timer" who had a diet of garlic in the Carolinas, it could have been Abe Jacobs. I heard that at one time he would eat purple onions like apples. Abe recently passed away at the age of 95. There may be a lot to say about the regimen. He also kept himself in good condition.

      Got to remember that he's on his best behavior, speak no evil and all that, because he believes he's being watched by a higher power. This mindset demonstrates a large measure of caution, bordering on paranoia. It's a feature of serious Christians, the kind who believe in the existence of Satan. Conduct is important to not be considered led into temptation, especially on video.

    Tully Blanchard was a great heel, the scumbag heel that would be your friend smile to your face then steal your wife or girlfriend 😂😂

  • @robertweaver5285
    @robertweaver5285 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Truly was the perfect heel. He had a sneer, a 24/7 look of contempt towards the crowd that seemed legit, not put on. Regarding his not answering questions or being diplomatic, I attribute that to his being in the prison ministries, that he's not *really* going to dish out gossip or talk bad about folks 🤷

    • @solitaryman777
      @solitaryman777 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Indeed. He's probably also not going to want to talk about his previous incarnation, as if that guy died. You KNOW that guy would talk shit and shoot from the hip, because that's what brought him success. The deal, as he conceives it as a serious adherent, is that he had to change his ways, and studiously avoid being that other guy. Funny how that guy emerged a bit while talking about his conversion, where he allowed himself to crow. It's part of the acceptability of proselytizing in the Christian faith, to channel that animal aggression that made him such a great heel. That bit about being a killer was a piece of hard-won wisdom about what the crowds respond towards. Now, he's trying thwart that impulse. The night he got that phone call from Flair must've been terrifying, but it's possible he was already thinking about it. Only he knows.

    I mostly only remember him in the team with Arn. I don't think they ever fit or worked right in WWF. Lex Luger was probably my favorite Horseman. Barry is too tall and lanky. I never really thought he worked out or the group was that great. Flair I could not stand in the least heh. Not that I changed my view of him Woo. Its interesting to hear about him as singles guy. Dusty Rhodes failed as a booker. I can relate to having people complain when doing things well. Just doing zones for MUDs the other admins would say I was making them look bad by working or doing it according to the standards in the Editor Doc. Never thought of WWF as trying to top the matches or do better. I don't think he talked about the Road Warriors or Tessa Blanchard. Magnum TA I don't think was the Main Event Talent to carry NWA. I wonder why AEW ditched him etc ;)?

      @@chrisvietro4360 Cool I used to be friends with Lex Luger on Myspace. He actually talked to me or replied a few times so it was a big deal for me. I feel so bad for him being in that situation.I was really into that kinda cut body like Rick Rude and him. I was always into that Torture Rack. I even have the Lex Luger figure with that literal item from ToyBiz. I have it up on here with my WCW Jeircholics shirt if ever bored :). They claim they invented the clotheslines for him but dunno how true that is ;). I like how he got his name.

    • @Daoloth
      @Daoloth 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@milla7391 Yeah that is why I don't like Barry really. His body didn't do it for me at all. The overly tall lanky guy or so. I was not a fan of Arn or Tully really. I was into Real Workers like Ricky The Dragon Steamboat the Greatest NWA Champion until Sabu. Your free to like refuge or Dustry Rhodes or Trash if you want. That just shows you don't know wrestling is all :). Steven Lombardi the Brooklyn Brawler is the Greatest Worker :). You probably think Bray Wyatt was Good too :).

      I agree. That was the only time a semblance of the kid from Texas came out. It had a familiar rhythm to it. I also get the sense that he has to take the temperature of the crowd to get to the heat. He's a worker bee who is agreeable to take orders, but he's practical, and works best as the ring general. Abstraction doesn't seem work for him particularly well, as he wasn't invited to be on the creative team, but he has demonstrated a keen sense of situational politics over and over. As he said, his job is make the crowd scream. Story lines don't do that. Vince is so very wrong about his fake gladiator approach: it's condescending and arrogant, even if it's successful for kids and mass consumption. I like vanilla ice cream, but not in the ring.

    everyone rattles on about FTR but without Tully they just look like a spice girls cover band looking at the past without any content
    hes promo with Shawn Spears is BY FAR the best promo AEW ever had! and once again without Tully - where is he now... NO WHERE
