It depends on the lighting and environment! I usually decide on the light color (cool or warm) and then choose the opposite of that for the shadow. A common example is a warm lighting (yellow/orange) with a cool shadow (blue/purple). So I shift the hue towards that color depending on if it's in light or shadow.
