    A few vertical turntables were made previously and a cool feature that some had was that there was a tonearm on either side of the record so both sides could be played without flipping the record over.

  • @yamajammer76
    @yamajammer76 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Little known fact any Dual turntable with a dynamically balanced tonearm can play on it's side and even upside down. Of course they are not designed to play like that, but they can do it.

    A vertical turntable will use spring tension to provide tracking force, just like an old Seeburg jukebox (the ones that play records vertically, Seeburg Select-O-Matic).

    I’ve always wondered if this type of turntable would even sound good but then I think about some of the old jukebox’s worked this way and they did sound good.

    I have used my Pioneer linear table (1979) as wall mount. Worked great stylus down of course...Teamed up with Sansui 9000 receiver..

    I like the aesthetic of it. If you were in a small apartment or dorm room, this style of record player would be great! With the wall mount, it would virtually take up no space! Of course, you’d have to compromise the sound quality. But, I’m sure for some, that’s something they could live with.

    If My memory serves me there is a company that makes a vertical TT with a ceramic and one with a magnetic audio tech cart it is called Fuse I like it thought of getting the one with mag cart they are bout 200 or less but I would like to see that one great review JRo📀

    I think Mitsubishi made a pretty nice vertical TT way back in like the late 80s. It was a gimmick then but it paired with more hifi gear.

    Poor packaging design. They gave it all that styrofoam padding on the sides, but not enough on the top and bottom.

    A couple of things to consider? Firstly - it states on the box there is a Bluetooth output for this - yet I didn't see any selector for this! Might the sound be better/improved when not using the built-in speakers but that method of output instead (especially if there are controls for bass, treble, etc on the BT speakers)? Secondly, might the sound from the built-in speakers be improved when it is wall mounted? The reason I wonder is because the downward force was on the rubber feet (when stood on the worktop) as opposed to being mounted,' where the force would be more towards the top, where the hanging mount is. This could be an unnatural balance and mounted it might provide better sound quality/experience perhaps? With regards the way the tone arm sticks out so much I'd be more inclined that it might snap off if something caught upon it; a slightly improved design where it didn't stick out so far off (unsupported) from the unit would work better I'd think. Just some thoughts, based on what this one.

      It can work as a Bluetooth speaker, not output to a Bluetooth speaker

    I highly recommend The Gramovox Floating Record Vertical Turntable. I got mine back when they were made in Chicago. It sounds, looks and plays great. I think now it is made in China. It uses the AT95E Dual Magnet Cartridge with a ATN95E Elliptical Diamond Stylus. It also has a Acrylic Plinth and Platter. I love this record player. It was on the Techmoan channel with thumbs up.

    I have a recommendation for a record player I'm curious about. it's the Fuse Vert Vertical Vinyl Record Player it's $230 on amazon and it has at3600l cartridge there's one that looks the same with a ceramic cartridge but I'm curious about the 3600l version specifically.

    Does the motor have adjustable pots on the back? Possibly behind the back panel? If so, the speed issue should be solvable.

    Miss my Sharp VZ 2500 E from 1983-all in one portable stereo system with both sides play vertical turntable,also built in Dolby tape deck and 4 band radio tuner !!
    Would definitely knock spots off the unit featured in this video !!

    As I'm sure you've seen, Techmoan has a few videos on vertical TT's. Depending on how heavy it is, personally I would not put it on a wall. Maybe on plaster, but definitely not on plasterboard. Have a good week.

    Hi there, im pretty novice when it comes to turntables (i know nothing lol) so this might be a dumb question. Is the stylus cartridge on this one replaceable/upgradeable? i found a used one of these for 60 bucks, I have some nice speakers to hook it up to, but would like to know if i might be able to upgrade the sound coming out of this. if so what might i look for?

    I have this player and have always had problems with the needle not hitting consistently on warped records. There’s almost no spring or similar tension pushing the arm to the face of the record. I want to like it more because it’d be nice to have a wall mounted player but I can only listen to half of each record :/

    The Project VTE turntable that comes with a respectable Ortofon OM5E cartridge. It can be mounted on a wall or on a tabletop. I have had it for six years it works great, sounds very good, and has no problems tracking a record. It is more pricy but it is built well. I think I paid around $350 on sale new.

  • @Iconoclasher

    My guess is there's no top speaker. It might be a "port" for acoustics. They do that on cheap speakers to add more bass, even though it's 180° out of phase.

    • @Gary_M
      @Gary_M ปีที่แล้ว

      It says on the box that there are three speakers, 2 watts each for the bottom ones and 5 watts for the top one. I wonder if the wire got disconnected in shipping, judging by the state of the Styrofoam it took a few hard knocks. I also wonder if you could adjust the speed if you took the back off.

    I am more stunned by the fact it can play 78 rpm records. You don't see that with many turntables these days.

    • @stefanegger
      @stefanegger ปีที่แล้ว

      nobody uses those any longer. And it probably will not have a 78 compatible stylus.

    • @xaenon
      @xaenon ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, it costs almost nothing to add the provision for 78 rpm to a two-speed turntable using this type of drive setup. It's possible to mod a common LP60 for three speeds, and it's actually fairly easy to do. It costs a few bucks for you or I to do it, but that's because small-quantity electronics are ridiculously overpriced. In a production environment, with bulk pricing, a production turntable could be provisioned for 3 speeds for about $0.30.

    • @LudiusQuassas
      @LudiusQuassas ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not really that uncommon.
      Pretty much every record player with a SkyWind-type mechanism can play 78, in fact it would be weird if you find one of those without 78.
      But in regards to other mechanisms out there, it would be quite a shocker to see the third speed.

    • @01chippe
      @01chippe ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@stefanegger There are plenty of us that still listen to 78’s. Every single cheap turntable like this is capable of 78 speed. The 78 stylus is also abundantly available for this type of cartridge.

    • @VinylRage3676
      @VinylRage3676 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@01chippe I have a crosley cruiser equipped with a wider groove stylus for 78s but I'm looking for something better something that doesn't use a ceramic cartridge to improve the sound quality and not a actually phonograph that's basically a piece of furniture would love to have one but no room for it and having to change the needle after every play will add up quickly.

    I have this same turntable. I use it for my little channel. Tye speed is better on mine. Everything sounds the way it should. I love it. Could it be better quality, sure. But I'm no audiophile, I just like my records. I haven't noticed any damage to my records at all. I've used it wall mounted and standing. Never unhappy with the sound.
    I also have full sound from the upper speaker.

    This is/was my first turntable, owned it for nearly 4 years now and it no longer connects with Bluetooth. I have loved owning it for an entry turntable that took minimal space, but unfortunately they have been discontinued and replaced by a similar model but in the tacky shape of a guitar.
